Metropolitan King County Council

The Metropolitan King County Council has appointed Seattle attorney David Krull to a five-year term as county ombusdman. Krull, one of three finalists, was chosen from a field of 132 applicants to fill the position. The ombudsman is charged with enforcing the county's Code of Ethics, investigating complaints about county government, and providing an information and referral service to the public.

Dain Bosworth

William Richardson, investment executive for regional brokerage and investment banking firm Dain Bosworth Inc., has relocated from the company's downtown Seattle location to its Bremerton office . Richardson joined the company in January. Before that, he was a manager of Payless Drugs in various locations around southern King County for four years. Dain Bosworth, a subsidiary of Inter-Regional Financial Group Inc., has eight offices in Washington and more than 1,900 employees in 18 predominantly northwestern states.

Hammerquist & Saffel

Hammerquist & Saffel Creative Services, a Seattle-based agency specializing in brand advertising and sports marketing, recently hired J. Scot French as its new director of client services. French was formerly with Wieden & Kennedy, where he managed the agency's ESPN account as well as most aspects of the Nike product lines. Prior to that, he spent three years at Hal Riney & Partners in San Francisco developing and executing marketing and advertising plans for companies such as Old Milwaukee, MJB Coffee and Aspen Ski Corp.

S. Stewart Ridgeway CPA

S. Stewart Ridgeway has announced the establishment of certified public accounting firm S. Stewart Ridgeway CPA to focus on emerging small business and home-based businesses. After retiring from the Army as a Finance Corps Lieutenant Colonel, Ridgeway was associated with the Washington, D.C. office of international accounting firm Grant Thornton and later with Brown & Co. in Arlington, Va. Prior to moving to the Lacey area, he operated CPA firms in Lake Ridge, Va., and Leavenworth, Kan. He has been designated a Certified Fraud Examiner by the Association of Certified Examiners and a Certified Government Financial Manager by the Association of Government Accountants.

Bruce Dees & Associates

Bruce Dees, principal of Bruce Dees & Associates, Tacoma, is one of a very select group of landscape architects chosen this year for fellowship status in the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). Dees' selection recognizes his 23 years of excellence in the design and planning of parks in the Puget Sound region. He has received 22 national, regional and local awards for his projects, including six national design awards from the ASLA. This year he received a national ASLA award for the design of the Hood Canal Wetlands Project, a two-mile system of interpretive trails near Belfair, Washington. Bruce Dees & Associates was founded in 1983.

Ross & McClure

Brad P. Cornwell has joined Ross & McClure of Bellingham as a project architect. A graduate of the University of Oregon, he most recently worked for Gardner Architecture in Eastern Iowa. He is now serving as project manager for the $12.5 million Lummi Resort & Casino expansion and as project architect for the Alpha Technologies, Inc., office building and manufacturing facility. Rosanne Manning Otterson has joined the firm as Resource Manager, assisting with product research, specifications and marketing. A graduate of the University of Washington, she has over 15 years experience in the design and architecture industry, and has worked with William Polk Associates, Mithun Partners and LMN. David V. King has been hired as a project architect. A graduate of Washington State University, he most recently served for 10 years with John Stewart Architects, Bellingham. He is currently at work on a lakefront retreat and on masterplan revisions for the Port of Bellingham Squalicum Harbor Boat Center.

ECS

David Bloxom, an electrical engineer and control systems engineer, has founded ECS Engineering in Mill Creek. He has been involved in the design of commercial industrial and municipal projects in 11 states over the last 14 years. Bloxom is a member of the American Water Works Association, and is Seattle section president of the International Society of Measurement and Control. Maureen Rossi serves a director of marketing for ECS, and is also responsible for document production. She is a graduate of Bellevue Community College and Renton Technical College.

KPFF

Jerald L. Abdie has been promoted to associate at KPFF Consulting Engineers. He has provided structural engineering services for over 100 projects since he joined KPFF in 1987. He will now assume additional responsibility for the firm's delivery process and staff training. He , ete is recet projects include the 1000 Broadway building in Portland, the Oregon State University Kerr Library Expansion, Gresham City Hall, Wilsonville High School, Jantzen Beach Mall Renovation and Peterkort Town Square. Rob Kistler has also been promoted to associate status at KPFF as well as manager of the bulding cladding division for KPFF's Portland office. Current projects of the cladding division include the GSA Couthouse in downtown Portland, NIKEtoen in New York City and several projects in Asia.
