Fred Sexton has been appointed executive director of the Fourth Corner Economic Development group. Sexton served as president and chief executive officer of the Economic Development Corporation of Honolulu for nine years. Prior to that, he was executive director of Mid-America International Agri-Trade Council in Chicago, a regional government food export promotion council. He also was director/deputy director of International Business Division of the Ohio Department of Development, a cabinet-level department charged with the responsibilities of maintaining and improving the economic and business infrastructure of Ohio. In his new role, Sexton will formalize and implement programs for investment recruitment, retention and expansion with emphasis on business climate issues. Based in Bellingham, the Fourth Corner Economic Development group is a nonprofit organization established by several community leaders to develop a approach to economic development that combines the public, private and educational sectors.
Barry Silveira has been promoted to sales manager of TV Mart, a 24-hour shopping and information network operated by Seattle-based Northwest Cable Advertising. Silveira will oversee the TV Mart sales department in the Seattle headquarters and is currently putting together a sales staff for the Tacoma, Everett and Bellevue offices. Previously, he was a retail sales representative.
The Salish Lodge has hired Kathleen Crews to manage the resort's new spa scheduled to open March 1. Crews comes to the Salish Lodge with more than 15 years of experience in the health and fitness industry in the Northwest. Most recently, she was general manager of The Seattle Club Bellevue.
Enterprise, an information technology staffing company serving the Seattle area and other markets nationwide, has changed its name to 1-800-NETWORK. Parent company MacTemps Inc., an international supplier of Macintosh and PC/Windows experts for short and long-term assignments, has renamed the unit to reflect more clearly its focus on providing contract staffing for computer networking. Contractors supplied by 1-800-NETWORK include network administrators, analysts, architects and managers experienced in such areas as Novell Netware, Windows NT, UNIX and TCP/IP.
King County Executive Gary Locke has appointed Kirkland City Councilmember and former Mayor Dave Russell and new King County Councilmember Rob McKenna to fill two King County vacancies on the board of the Regional Transit Authority. The two fill the unexpired terms of Bellevue Mayor Don Davidson and King County Councilmember Bruce Laing, both of whom chose not to seek reelection. Both appointments must be confirmed by the King County Council. Russell is a professor of aerospace engineering at the University of Washington. He just stepped down on Jan. 1 after four years as Mayor of Kirkland. McKenna has been an attorney in corporate practice and is a former member of the Bellevue Alliance for Transportation Solutions. He was elected in November to succeed Laing as King County Councilmember representing District 6.
Entranco has announced the names of seven new shareholders. They include Ed Murray and Ralph Nelson, both of the Bellevue office. Others are Jay Van Echo of the Tucson office and Jack Allen, Steve Boschen, Don Manthe and Laurie Roden of the Phoenix office. With 20 years of excperience in the environmentla sciences, Murray recently completed an environmnetal impct statement review for the City of Issaquah's Comprehensive Plan. He is leading a multi-disciplinary team in envirionmental studies for the Allen Street Bridge in Kelso. Nelson who works in the environmental sciences and engineering fields, is now serving as project manager for the Ruddell Road Stormwater Treatment facility in Lacey and for the design of a regional infiltration basin in Pierce County.
Rex Allen has joined the staff of Loschky Marquardt & Nesholm (LMN) Architects. His project experience includes the Anchorage Fifth Avenue Mall, the South Towne Center Mall in Sandy, Utah, the Lakewood Mall in Tacoma and Bellvue Place. At LMN, he will serve as project manager for Gresham Station and Redmond Town Center.
Mayor/Reed of Portland has added several employees to the staff. Paul Sorenson will be responsible for the groups mass transportaitn projects, for Tri-Met and the Portland International Airport. Glen Marcusen, a graphic designer, is working on print, exhibit and signing projects for the Oregon Symphony, the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center and Porltand Community College. Christina Laliberte has also joined the visul communications group as a graphic designer. She is working on signage for the Wahsington County justice Complex. David Taylor is a CAD draftsman, responsible for technical documents production. Martha Koerner, a landscape planner, has joined Rayer/Reed's landscape architecture group. She is working on site planning for a housing project and a community center.
Julie Huang is now president of CivilTech. Formerly with ABKJ, her experience includes structural design for bridges, buildings, utilities and marine structures. Daniel W. Symonds who has spent five years as senior technical advisor in the structural group at HNTB and eight years technical direcor and associate at KPFF, is now a senior structural engineer fo CivilTech. James Su is the principal of CivilTech. He holds a doctorate in geotechnical engineering from Wahsington State University and a degree in structural engineeinrg from Tongji University in Shanghsi, China. He recently worked for Dames & Moore for ove three years.
Donna Koziol has been elected the new president of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Washington State Chapter for 1995-1996. She has been principal if Inside Dimensions of Bellvue and taught in the Bellevue Community College Interior Design Program. She has also been corporate interior designer for Safeco Insurance, Co.
