Los Angeles Times syndicated columnist Dan Berger has named David Forsyth winemaker of the year. Forsyth works for Prosser-based The Hogue Cellars, a Washington winery which produces more than 300,000 cases of wine annually. Forsyth is the first winemaker outside of California to receive this honour. He joined The Hogue Cellars in 1984 and was named winemaker in 1987. Previously, he served as a winemaker in California's Napa Valley. Forsyth is a member and past chairman of the Central Washington Wine Technical Group and currently serves on the Washington Wine Advisory Board.
Bell Harbor International Conference Center, a meeting facility located on Seattle's downtown waterfront which is scheduled to open in June 1996, has named Steve Rosen general manager and has added Wistar Kay to its staff as an international sales manager. Rosen joins Bell Harbor from his post as assistant executive manager and director of food and beverage at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Pasadena, Calif. Prior to that, he held executive positions with a number of large hotel chains, including Hilton Hotels, Sheraton Hotels, The Continental Companies, Bonaventure Resort and Spas, and the Palm Springs Riviera Resort. Kay has 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including serving as international sales manager for the Four Seasons Olympic Hotel and The Westin Hotel, both in Seattle. Prior to joining Bell Harbor, she served as marketing director of the American Cultural Exchange, an international educational company specializing in intensive English instruction, foreign language services and cross cultural training.
Seattle Repertory associate artistic director Doug Hughes has accepted a newly created position of director of artistic planning at Minneapolis-based The Guthrie Theater. Hughes, who has been with the Seattle Repertory Theater for eleven seasons, will join The Guthrie on April, 1 after directing the world premiere of two one-acts by John Patrick Shanley for The Actors Theatre of Louisville's Humana Festival. He is currently in rehearsal for the Repertory's production of Waiting for Godot with Bill Irwin and Stephen Spinella. He most recently directed the world premiere of Tim Blake Nelson's The Grey Zone which was extended at the Manhattan Class Company.
Bellevue-based ESCA Corporation has changed its named to Cegelec ESCA Corporation, formally distinguishing itself as a business unit of Cegelec. A subsidiary of Paris-based Cegelec since 1990, Cegelec ESCA, a supplier of real-time systems for energy management, supervisory control and data acquisition, and power marketing, did not change its name at the time of the acquisition. Cegelec companies belong to the multinational Alcatel Alsthom Group.
Communications company of Seattle MWW/Savitt has added to its client base Lynnwood-based the Dairy Farmers, supporting the state's dairy farmers through marketing, promotion, and education about Washington's dairy industry and its products. MWW/Savitt will provide media relations and event planning for the launch of the Dairy Farmers of Washington's new interactive kiosks, providing information to consumers.
Parallel Communications, a technology marketing agency located in Redmond, has completed work on a Web site for DealerNet, an Internet-based vehicle show room. The site allows consumers to search for, research, and get started on the purchase of a new car, boat, or recreational vehicle through their computer.

Jeffrey S. Lyon, vice president and associate broker with Kidder Mathews & Segner, Inc.-ONCOR International has been awarded the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) designation. Currently, only 28 commercial real estate agents in the state hold the SIOR designation.
The Lakemont Company has added two new associate brokers, Craig Paulson and Loren Feldman, to its sales team. Paulson has over four years of real estate experience and was named the 1993 MAME rookie of the Year, an award given by the Master Builders Association. Feldman was an on-site sales associate for the Lakemont Community and won a MAME Sales Volume Achievement Award in 1995. The Lakemont Company is a small independent real estate brokerage firm catering to upper-end home buyers and home builders in Bellevue.
La Croisette, a contemporary clothing store for women and children, has opened at Kirkland Parkplace next to Ooh La La. Kirland Parkplace is located on the corner of Sixth and Central in downtown Kirkland.
Berkshire Mortgage Finance and G.P. Realty Finance have annouced the closing of a $5.5 million loan to refinance Farrington Court Retirement Community in Kent at a 10-year fixed rate of 7.385 percent. Constructed in 1971 as a four-building apartment complex, Farrington Court Retirement Community was renovated in 1984 as a congregate care facility connecting the four buildings. The facility now consists of 121 units. Berkshire Mortgage Finance provides real estate financing nationwide and manages a $2.5 billion multifamily and healthcare loan portfolio.
Rush Construction Co. will build homes at Northwest Landing, a 3,000-arce, mixed-use development at DuPont. The Gig Harbor builder joins three other companies already selling homes in the community. Rush Construction will build 30 homes in a newly opened division on Palisade Boulevard, Northwest Landing's main residential arterial. The homes will be detached single-family residences designed in the Craftsman style. Ramblers and two-story styles will include neotraditional elements like garages behind homes and porches in front. Preliminary plans show a range of sizes from 1,300 to 2,000 square feet, priced from $130,000 to $170,000.

American Capital Resource, Inc., has announced the funding of a $10.2 million refinance of the Branch Villa Health Care Facility in Seattle. It is the first loan commitment insured by the Seattle office of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under its new 232/223(f) program. The program provides refinancing to existing nursing homes and assisted living facilities for both profit-motivated and non-profit sponsors. The purpose of this new program is to provide attractive long term fixed financing to these types of facilities and interest rates lower than conventional sources of mortgage capital.
Della Sherwood, Jean Leeper and Randy Hicks have joined Coldwell Banker Plateau Real Estate in Enumclaw. Coldwell Banker Plateau Real Estate is moving across the street to a new building under construction at 2820 Griffin Avenue in Enumclaw. The move is expected to take place by the first of April.
