Sandy Steele, executive director of Edmonds-based Stevens Healthcare, and Janet Wright, director of critical care and emergency services for the same facility, have been honored by the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society. Steele has earned fellow status and Wright has received diplomate status.
Attorney Carolann O'Brien Storli has joined Seattle-based Chism Jacobson & Johnson Lawyers, bringing an expertise in the fields of estate and business succession planning. O'Brien Storli was previously with Foster Pepper & Shefelman and Perkins Coie.
Metropolitan King County Council has announced that King County's first two youth computer centers are expected to open soon at youth clubs in Federal Way and in the Rainier Valley. Each center will have 10 work stations equipped with Pentium multimedia computers, Internet access and laser printers for use by students grades K-12. Three instructors will run the center. Up to 10 computer centers will be set up throughout King County as part of the Youth Computing Project.
The Home Depot, a nationwide home-improvement retailer, will open a store in Bothell on April 18. Located at 18333 120th Avenue N.E., this will be the company's ninth store in the Puget Sound region.
Seattle-based USTravel, a travel company serving large accounts and middle market firms, has promoted Alice Burman from director of operations to general manager of USTravel-Washington, and Jim Johnson from director of retail operations to general manager of Doug Fox Travel, a subsidiary of USTravel with 22 branches throughout the Puget Sound Region.
Washington Transit Advertising, a woman-owned business placing advertising on the interior and exterior of buses for 12 transit systems in the State of Washington, was presented a "Celebrate Success 1996" award by the Office of Minority/Women Business and Contract Compliance Division for King County.

Woodinville-based Prism Group Inc., a solution provider to the software publishing industry, has hired David Appel as vice president of Prism Group and president of Prism-Direct, and Philip Purdy as vice president of business development for Prism Group. Appel was most recently president of Adobe Plug-Ins Source. Purdy's most recent experience is vice president of sales and marketing at Quebecor Integrated Media.
Seattle-headquartered XYPOINT Corporation, a provider of wireless location applications, has appointed Terry Scott to its board of directors. Scott is presently the president and chief executive officer of Flash Comm Inc., which is developing a wireless two-way messaging and location service utilizing a unique terrestrial-based technology. Previously, he served as the president and chief executive officer of Paging Network Inc., a provider of paging services.
Seattle-based Mutual Travel, a travel management company of the Northwest, has entered into a partnership with a Russian-based travel company, Irkutsk-Baikal Intourist Inc. Together the two companies will offer tour packages for Russians to the United States, and offer Russian tour packages to Americans. Irkutsk-Baikal Intourist has opened an office in Seattle, at Sand Point Way NE, in partnership with Mutual Travel.
McCann-Erickson of Seattle won three 1996 national EFFIE finalist awards, presented by the New York American Marketing Association, and has been named as a finalist in the competition. Finalists will be awarded with gold, silver or bronze EFFIES at the June 5 awards show in New York City.

The 1996 Pacific Northwest History Award, given annually by the Pacific Northwest Historians Guild to recognize an individual who has made significant contributions to regional history, has been given to Ruth Kirk. Kirk is an award-winning author of numerous books on Northwest natural history, archaeology and ethnography, including the newly revised and updated edition of Exploring Washington's Past: A Road Guide to History.
Seattle-based Holland America Line-Westours Inc., offering cruises around the world, has appointed Frank Hesslein manager of incentive sales. Hesslein has served as regional sales manager with Royal Viking Line and Crystal Cruises and as vice president of Travel Plans International.
Brett Stav has joined Seattle-based Bob Walsh Enterprises as media coordinator for the Microsoft Grand Prix, the first event of the 1996 Olympic Team Trials-Cycling which will be held in May. Stav has worked with the Seattle Engineering Department, Sports International and the Bicycle Paper.
