Burnill F. Clark, president and chief executive officer of KCTS Television, has been honored in March with a 21st Century Award by the Association of America's Public Television Stations, representing the nation local television licensees. The 21st century Award recognizes those who contribute to the public television system by creating and adopting strategies to manage change and address future needs.
G.W. Corby, president and owner of Simulator Training Inc., a transport category training center for airlines, corporations and governments, has announced his intention to retire and is offering both Simulator Training Inc., and a Yakima-based aviation facility, Noland-Decoto Flying Service Inc., for sale. Corby plans to finish his aviation career as an instructor at Northwest Airlines.
The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) and the American College of Endocrinology (ACE) will hold AACE'96, the Fifth AACE Annual Meeting and Clinical Congress from May 1st through May 5 in Seattle at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center. Approximately 700 endocrinologists are expected to attend the congress.
The Seattle Chapter of Women in Communications Inc. has selected Eddie Bauer as their 1996 Corporate Award Winner. The award, recognizing a company which has demonstrated an on-going commitment to women and family issues, will be presented at the 65th annual Matrix Table on April 16 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center.
The Seattle Industrial Rotary organizes a cleanup of Seattle public spaces on Saturday, April 13. This is part of Spring Clean '96, a volunteer effort involving more than 250 community groups and organizations which is scheduled from March 30th though April 28th. It focuses especially on Seattle Public Schools and their surrounding neighborhoods.
McCann-Erickson of Seattle has promoted Mary McDonald to production manager. McDonald joined McCann in 1994 as traffic manager, and was promoted to assistant production manager in 1995.

Flight Center, a Boeing Field-based air service operation, launched Flight Center Aircraft Sales, a new division that will specialize in the sale of corporate turbo-prop aircraft, helicopters and jets. Brad Wollen will be vice president of aircraft sales. He recently spent 12 years selling aircraft in Boise. The Flight Center is undergoing a major renovation including a remodeled terminal and pilot lounge.
Ackerley Outdoor Advertising has promoted Stacey McDonald-Chellis from local sales manager to regional sales manager and Kate Ivory from account manager to local sales manager of Portland. McDonald-Chellis joined the company as an intern in 1988. Ivory came to Ackerley in 1994 after nearly three years of working in print advertising sales.
The Northwest Minority Supplier Development Council, a non-profit organization that expands business opportunities for minority-owned business, has celebrated its 20th anniversary with a tradeshow and awards luncheon. Seafirst Bank was named Regional Corporation of the Year, the National Corporation of the Year went to US West Inc.. Four minority business owners were also honored: Rule1software, Vinson Bros. Corporation, Pyro Media, Supplier of the Year; and Multiple Zones.
The Museum of History and Industry of Seattle has given its 1996 History Makers Awards to: Arts and humanities: Peter Donnelly, president of the board Corporate Council for the Arts; Corporate Citizen: Roger Eigsti, president, Safeco Corporation; Heritage: Peggy Corley, former president of the board, Museum of History and Industry; Public Affairs: Cal Anderson, former state senator 43rd district (posthumously); Science and Technology: Walt Braithwaite, vice president, Information Systems Boeing Commercial Airplane Group. The History Makers Awards Dinner will be held on May 2.
The Mediala HealthCare Downtown clinic, a Seattle-based care clinic, is now offering walk-in care and same day appointments during workdays. The Downtown clinic consists of five board-certified family practice physicians, six board-certified internal medicine physicians, and a family nurse practitioner.
As part of a move into Internet services, Seattle-based Sorensen Roberts & Hansen, a firm which provides marketing communication campaigns, has named Michael Tardiff as technical resources manager. Tardiff comes from Internet service provider Northwest Nexus Inc.
ER Refunders has opened its first office in Bellevue for the purpose of auditing hospital bills and health insurance claims for errors and overpayments.
Dayna Grubb, owner of Ardour, a women's clothing shop located downtown Seattle, has opened a second store, selling home accessories and casual clothes, in Fremont. The new store, called Les Amis, is headed by Becky Buford.
