Brendan Barnicle has been hired by the investment banking firm of Olympic Capital Partners as an associate. Formerly with the law firm of Bogle & Gates, he specialized in corporate finance and intellectual property law. With Olympic Capital, Barnicle will assist in the management of client assignments and performing due diligence activities.
Penny Taylor, regional vice president of TCI Media Services, has been named 1995 Person of the Year by the Seattle Chapter of the American Marketing Association. She will be honored at AMA's annual "Marketing & Media Hall of Fame" awards program. At TCI, Taylor is responsible for all ad sales operations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. She oversees the work of more than 400 advertising personnel in all of the Northwest's major markets.
Janell Steffey has joined Pacific Technologies, Inc. (PTI) as a consultant. PTI is a Bellevue management consulting firm that specializes in developing business-driven technology plans and providing related implementation services.

The Seattle Chapter of the American Society of Chartered Life Underwriters (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultants (ChFC) announced that Starbucks Coffee Company will be presented with the American Business Ethics Award. The presentation will be at the Seattle Chapter of CLU & ChFC monthly breakfast meeting at the Bellevue Conference Center on Friday, April 26.
Cho Yang Line announced that a new weekly container service linking the Pacific Northwest to the Far East will begin weekly westbound sailings on May 2. The new service, designated PDM, will sail out of Seattle and serve Tokyo, Osaka, Pusan, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong and Singapore. The addition of the Seattle service in combination with Cho Yang's weekly two-way round-the-world service brings to five the weekly direct, all-water sailings between the US and the Far East.
Megan Barnes has been promoted to account executive at Sorensen Roberts & Hansen(SRH). Barnes' current account assignments include Providence Health Plans and Web site marketing client, Northwest Nexus. In addition, Lesley Tarabochia, a former intern with the company, has been hired as an account administrator. SRH, a strategic marketing communications agency since 1983, is focusing its business development efforts on Internet services, with a specialty in NetNurturing.
Firmani and Associates celebrates its second anniversary with the addition of a new associate and three new clients. Christine Woffinden joined the firm as an associate and will provide public relations counsel to new and existing clients. The company's new clients are Quality Business Systems (QBS), Construction Industry Training Council (CITC), and Internet World Broadcasting Corporation (IWBC). Firmani and Associates is a strategic marketing and communications firm whose client base is comprised of health care industry leaders, law firms and various creative retailers.
Deanna Wilson has been named Director-Quality by Expeditors International of Washington, Inc. She is responsible for the reporting of more than 20 ongoing measurements which quantify Expeditors' service performance, the service evaluations of the company's global vendors and its customer surveys. Headquartered in Seattle, Expeditors is a global logistics company. The company offers air and ocean freight forwarding, supplier consolidation, customs clearance, cargo insurance, distribution and value-added logistics services.
Dr. Wade C. Boyd was promoted to vice president-timber for Longview Fibre Company. Boyd's responsibilities include overseeing Longview Fibre's eight tree-farm operations in Oregon and Washington, with other duties involving log sales, the company's Leavenworth solid-wood products plant, and representing Longview in various forest-industry activities.
Garry Horvitz has joined the board of directors of Hart Crowser, Inc. Horvitz is principal engineer in the firm's corporate headquarters in Seattle. Constance Taylor, a principal and manager of Oregon operations in the Portland office and Ron Elgin, president and CEO of Elgin/Syferd/DDB Needham in Seattle were also elected to the board. Horvitz is Hart Crowser's most senior principal engineer, and was lead engineer in many downtown Seattle commercial and industrial redevelopment projects, including the Port of Seattle's Bell Street Pier and Wright Runstad's Central Waterfront development. He provided project management for the design and construction of Interstate-90 between I-5 and the Kingdome, including the transit lanes leading to Union Station. He is currently involved in the development of Southwest Harbor Island Terminal 5 for the Port of Seattle.
Steve Pesce has joined the Bellevue office of W& H Pacific as a project designer. He is responsible for civil design and coordination of site development projects including plans, specifications and contract documents, and is responsible for overseeing survey crews and marketing the firm's construction services. Steve Adermann has joined the office as construction survey manager. With over 15 years experience in surveying, mapping and construction surveying, Adermann's projects include the Black Diamond Coal Mine, mapping the Port of Seattle Southwest Harbor project and construction of Kamiak High School, Mukilteo Middle School and Harbor Steps.
Chan Chou has joined Triad Associates as a project manager at the Tacoma office. Chan has 25 years experience in the land development industry and has been involved in the design of planned communities and residential subdivisions such as Sunrise, Grandview, Providence Point, Lakeland and Weyerhaeuser's West Campus. Mike Bowen has been promoted to office manager in the Tacoma office of Triad. He has been a project surveyor in the Tacoma office for almost two years. Mark Reeves, who has been with the firm's Portland office for 12 years, will be now be working as a project engineer in the Tacoma office. He is currently at work on The Ridge at Clearwater, a 65-lot subdivision in Tumwater. Martin Kalb has also been transferred to the Tacoma office from the Kirkland office of Triad. He is now working as survey CAD technician on the Intel microprocessor plant in Du Pont and the University of Washington Branch Campus in Tacoma.
Rolle Studerus has joined C3MG as a senior cost estimator. Prior to joining C3MG, Studerus was chief estimator for SDL Corporation and was also supervisory estimator and cost control manager for the Austin Company of numerous design/build projects. He is former president and current board member for the Seattle section of the American Association of Cost Engineers International (AACE). John Maki has also joined the firm as a senior cost estimator. Formerly with the construction management division of Boeing, he specializes in contractor negotiations, project monitoring, risk prevention and claims avoidance. Maki is also a member of AACE.

GeoEngineers has relocated its Tacoma office to 1101 Fawcett Avenue, Suite 200. The new office has more than 5,600 square feet of production and administration space. GeoEngineers will continue to operate its own on-site soils laboratory. The new telephone number is 383-4940; the fax number is 383-4923.
