PhotoDisc Inc.

Katherine James Schuitemaker has joined PhotoDisc Inc. as its vice president of sales and marketing. Schuitemaker will develop and implement marketing, sales, distribution and customer service strategies for the U.S. market. In addition to coordination of direct and indirect sales programs, she will be responsible for managing advertising, public relations, promotions and customer service.

Toll Free Cellular

Jurij Pikas and Jeff Chale have joined Toll Free Cellular as vice president of information systems and vice president of carrier relations respectively. As vice president of information systems, Pikas will develop and implement a comprehensive information technology strategy and direct information systems activities, including architectural design, application development and operations management. Chale's responsibilities as vice president of carrier relations will include developing and managing relationships with cellular carriers and other wireless service providers.

West Stock Photography

Semaphore Corporation has formed a strategic alliance with the principals of West Stock Photography to broaden Semaphore's capabilities in Internet services. West Stock principals will provide Semaphore with business consulting and investment, while Semaphore will share technology with West Stock.

First Choice Health

First Choice Health Network, Inc. has created the "Clayton S. Field Health & Public Policy Forum" as a memorial to its former president and CEO. Field, 50, and a national leader in health care policy, died peacefully at home with his family on April 3 after a long illness.

Museum of Flight

The following Museum of Flight Board of Trustees were elected officers of the 17-member Executive Committee for the 1996-97 term: James A. Curtis, chair; Mark E. Kirchner, president; Harold E. Carr, vice president; E.P. Swain, Jr., vice president; David C. Wyman, treasurer; and Brien S. Wygle, secretary. New trustees elected to the 48-member Board for the 1996-99 term are Robert Schultz and T. Wilson. Trustee H.S. Wright III will serve a one-year term.

Showplace Kitchens and Baths

Three employees of Showplace Kitchens and Baths of Redmond have received accreditation through the National Kitchen and Bath Association. Fay Liner, has added certification as a Certified Bath Designer; Marie Thompson, has been certified as a Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer and Diana Wogulis Keys, has received certification as a Certified Kitchen Designer.

Piper Jaffray Inc.

Michael McGree and Michael G. Miser have been hired by Piper Jaffray Inc.'s Seattle office as investment executives. Prior to joining Piper Jaffray, McGree was the Western Washington sales representative for ACE Tank and Equipment in Seattle. He holds an MBA in finance and economics from Seattle University. Miser, who has a bachelor of arts degree in international studies from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, was a sales representative with 3M in Seattle and Permacel in New York before joining Piper Jaffray Inc.

The Madison

Kelly Koon, a member of the concierge staff at The Madison A Renaissance Hotel, will represent the hotel as the "Renaissance Ambassador" during her tour of 10 other Renaissance Hotels around the world. Koon was selected from six finalists in a hotel-wide essay contest which asked why they should be chosen to represent the hotel as the "Renaissance Ambassador."

Innovations in government awards

The Ford Foundation and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University named four projects in Washington as semifinalists in the 1996 Innovations in American Government Awards program. Innovations Awards recognize programs and policies that represent creative, effective approaches to meeting public needs. The semifinalists in Washington are: Work Ethic Camp of the state Department of Corrections; "Get in the Loop" campaign for King County; Urban Rural Greenway: King County 4 to 1 Program, King County; and Eugene P. Tone School, Tacoma School District.

WHaM Communications

WHaM Communications has been awarded the 1-DAY ACUVUE account by Vistakon, a division of Johnson & Johnson. WHaM's first assignment will be to develop and conduct a national teen marketing campaign that includes special events, media relations, new media marketing and promotions.

FTZ conference postponed

The Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) Conference, sponsored by Yakima County Development Association-New Vision has been postponed to allow a foreign trade zone marketer to be hired by YCDA and be involved in the informational conference. The conference was scheduled for May 15. Now, the conference is expected to be held in mid-summer.

Thompson Vaivoda

Thompson Vaivoda of Portland has named two new principals in the firm. David P. Gellos has been with the firm since it was founded in 1984, and is team leader for cinema projects. Kurt Schultz, an eight-year veteran, currently leads the design team for the new East Portland Community Center. Thompson Vaivoda has also added four new members to the staff. Thomas G. Shaw is an architect with over 12 years of experience in a variety of projects. Tobin Weaver is licensed in the state of Massachusetts and has 10 years of project management experience. Tim Simpson and Montgomery Hill have been hired as intern architects.

Art Anderson

Art Anderson Associates has added three new staff members to the civil and structural division of the firm. Kourosh Sameni, a senior civil engineer, will be working on Dawn Place Business Center in Poulsbo and on parking at the Madigan Army Medical Center. Prior to joining Art Anderson Associates, Sameni practiced civil engineering at Hanford and in San Diego and Phoenix as well as the Puget Sound area. Eleanor Ranstrom has joined the firm as a civil technician. She will participate in design of a new passenger-only ferry terminal for Vallejo, Calif. Prior to joining the firm, she provided drafting support for numerous local school district projects, Costco stores and a fire fighters' training facility at the Naval Submarine Base, Bangor. Trudelyn Thuring has joined the civil and structural engineering division of Art Anderson as a civil technician. She is supporting the Sinclair Landing project, has recently completed working drawings for the Bremerton National Airport self-fuel facility for the Port of Bremerton and is assisting with design for the Family Service Center addition for Kitsap Community Action. Now in her fifth year with the firm, Thuring previously provided drafting support for the mechanical/electrical and marine groups at Art Anderson. Maria Campbell has joined the administrative staff. Prior to joining the firm she worked in contracts at Envisions and Martin Marietta. She is a graduate of Brigham Young University.

GeoEngineers

GeoEngineers has relocated its Tacoma office to 1101 Fawcett Avenue, Suite 200. The new office has more than 5,600 square feet of production and administration space. GeoEngineers will continue to operate its own on-site soils laboratory. The new telephone number is 383-4940; the fax number is 383-4923.
