Werner Janssen has been named manager of the Sleeping Lady resort and conference center in Icicle Canyon near Leavenworth. He was a member of the construction management team for Sleeping Lady and has over 20 years experience in management and operations. He was formerly project, business and facility operations manager at Holden Village on Lake Chelan and also worked as a research engineer for Boeing.
Steve Burkhart was promoted to vice president of the food and beverage division at WhaM Communications. He was formerly account supervisor.
William C. Smith of Seattle was one of 15 Armstrong World Industries Inc. employees to be honored with the President's Award. He is territory manager of the West Region for the Floor Division.
Bill Grinstein, chair of the Museum of History and Industry, won a 1996 Evergreen Award in recognition of his work to preserve and enhance the quality of life in the state.
Kobasic Hadley has realigned its management team. Dick Hadley is the new president and Cam Green is vice president, executive creative director. John Kobasic is chairman and chief executive officer. He will be in charge of business development and Hadley will devote full time to client service, strategic planning and account management.

MetaInfo, the Seattle -based developer of Internet messaging software, has hired Scott McFarlane as Chief Operating Officer and Katharine Petersen as Marketing Director. McFarlane will oversee the daily operations of MetaInfo and his primary responsibility will be to ensure that MetaInfo's staffing levels, information systems and internal policies can support the company's expansion. Petersen's responsibilities will include the development and execution of product introduction strategies for MetaInfo's growing line of software applications, in addition to the management of all marketing communications and user education activities.
Redd, Revell-Pechar, Inc. announced that Karrie Overby has joined the advertising and public relations agency as an Assistant Account Coordinator. Her responsibilities include project trafficking, press/client relations, web page development and client account support for the public relations team.
On May 30, the building that houses the Washington Technology Center will be dedicated John M. Fluke Sr. Hall. The dedication ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. in the north plaza entrance of the building, located just east of the Faculty Center on the University of Washington campus. A reception and open house will follow from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. With John M. Fluke Sr. championing the cause, the Washington Technology Center was created by the Washington State Legislature in 1983. The center builds partnerships between universities around the state and industrial partners to conduct research and technology development in advanced materials and manufacturing, biotechnology, computer systems and software, human interface technology (virtual reality) and microelectronics. It has played a major support role in 15 start-up companies and has co-sponsored research and technology development in partnership with more than 70 Washington state firms.
Jean Wrona has been appointed to the position of vice president and commercial loan officer of First Heritage Bank. Wrona has 30 years of banking experience in the Snohomish area. She will be responsible for business development and commercial lending.
After a national search for an executive to lead Cole & Weber's integrated marketing group, the agency announced that Brian Ribbey has been hired as Group Director, Integrated Marketing. He will manage the agency's interactive, design and direct marketing divisions. Ribbey will partner with agency CEO Austin McGhie and Creative Director Ron Hawkins as part of the senior management team at the Seattle-based shop.
Koll's property management division has hired John Sullivan to serve a director of new business development in the northwest region. Previously, Sullivan was a senior site acquisition representative for JM Consulting Group and served as a sales associate with CB Commercial Real Estate Group for over six years.
Howard Morris has recently joined Around-the-Clock Inc., Property Management, as a property manager. Morris will be responsible for home rentals, apartment rentals, condo rentals and home owner association management covering Gig Harbor, to Federal Way, and all of Pierce County.
Conner Development has hired Connie Heppenstal to represent View Pointe -- the firm's newest condominium site -- and an upcoming townhome project -- Kirkland Creek. Both sites are located in downtown Kirkland. Heppenstal brings 15 years experience in the real estate industry to her new position.
Windermere has announced the addition of three new sales associates. Joining the Bellevue Commons office is Joseph Reilly who has over three years of real estate practice. New to real estate are Jonathan Savage who joins the Wall Street office, and Patrick Corr who joins the Wedgewood office. Windermere has also announced the opening of a new office in Yakima. The office opened on May 15, with a dozen agents. The Yakima office is located at 201 North 40th, Yakima, WA 98908. Hallow Reality, a real estate firm in Twin Falls, Idaho, will affiliate with Windermere Real Estate, announced owner Steve Hallows. The affiliation is effective June 1. The Twin Falls office, located at 1061 Blue Lake Blvd. North, is the third Windermere affiliate in Idaho
Commercial Real Estate Women-Northwest will feature the major downtown retail changes, headlined by the renovation of the Frederick & Nelson store, at its June 12, luncheon. The feature speaker will be Matt Griffin, partner and co-manager of Pine Street Development, which is renovating the Frederick & Nelson Store, reconfiguring the current Nordstrom building, and developing a new retail complex at Sixth and Pine. Griffin will discuss the project in detail, particularly the joining of city government, commercial enterprise, and private development. The luncheon will be held at the Harbor Club, with registration starting at 11:45 am and lunch beginning at noon. The cost of the lunch is $22.50 for members, $30 for non-members. CREW will also be hosting a how-to-session on cold calling at its June 28 lunch. The presenter will be Jerry Hocutt, a leading salesman and the creator of the "Just a Thought..." cards, a networking program designed to establish and build relationships with prospects and customers. His presentation teaches simple strategies for cold calling, how to create a prospect list, and how to identify types of prospects. The breakfast will be held at the Broderick Building, 615 Second Ave., 6th floor conference room. The cost is $15 for members and $17.50 for non-members. Local real estate speaker and writer Carla Cross's best-selling program, Up and Running in 30 Days, has been chosen for international publication by Chicago publisher Dearborn Financial Publishing, Inc. The Publisher's research department has determined that real estate sales as a profession is growing in importance in the international market. Dearborn has selected Cross's book/tape program as best in its category. Translation into Spanish and distribution through the International Division is planned for the book in 1997.
