Dain Bosworth

Charles Pluckhahn and Diane Daggatt have been hired by Dain Bosworth as analysts to the equity research department. Pluckhahn will act as managing director, following telecommunications companies. Daggatt will be vice president, covering emerging Northwest companies. Glenn Powers, managing director and telecommunication analyst, is returning to Dain Bosworth's Seattle research office after spending two years working from its Minneapolis headquarters.

NW Christmas Tree Association

The Pacific Northwest Christmas Tree Association's annual summer meeting and farm tour will be held on June 14 and 15 at the Monarch Hotel in Clackamas, Ore. The two-day event will include educational sessions on Friday, addressing such topics needle blight on noble fir, harvesting costs, tree production in Norway, Oregon and Washington legislative issues and an update on US and Mexico regulations. Growers will tour several local operations. This event is open to members only, but membership information can be obtained by calling (503) 362-2942.

Emerald Heights

Philip Schroeder has been promoted from staff accountant to accounting manager at Emerald Heights, a continuing care retirement community in Redmond that provides residential living. Schroeder, a certified public accountant, previously was a senior accountant for Safeway, Inc.

Washington Academy of Family Physicians

Kevin Murray, MD has been elected president of the Washington Academy of Family Physicians (WAFP) for the year of 1996-1997. Murray has been practicing family medicine since 1981 and is associate administrator for Clinic Operations at the Providence Family Medical Center. WAFP is Washington state's largest medical specialty organization and represents nearly 2,200 active, retired and future family physicians. It is the state chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).

Cheshire Grin

Capitol Hill will house a new venture combining local designer fashions and a teahouse. Cheshire Grin, owned by Diane Stone, will serve pastries and tea by the pot and in bulk. Local designers will be featured offering an eclectic mix of fashions, hats, and jewelry. Cheshire Grin, located at 313 East Pine, opens at 8:00 a.m. Saturday June 8, and will celebrate with live jazz by the band House Blend during the afternoon.

SAFECO

Richard Graber has joined SAFECO Securities, Inc. as a vice president and will head the retail marketing department for SAFECO Mutual Funds. Formerly, Graber served as senior vice president of marketing at Jones & Babson Funds in Kansas City. Graver is also a director of the Mutual Funds Education Alliance and a director and executive vice president of the 100% No-Load Mutual Fund Council.

Cucina! Presto!

Stephen Scheder has been named the new general manager of the Queen Anne Cucina! Presto! His responsibilities will include overseeing overall operations and supervising the restaurant's employees. Scheder joined Cucina! Cucina!, Inc. in 1995 and has over seven years experience in food service management.

Hogue Cellars

The Hogue Cellars has promoted Dave Copeland to operations manager, Lorenzo Robledo to cellar master and Chris Robledo to assistant bottling line supervisor. Copeland has been with The Hogue Cellars since 1984, previously serving as the cellar master. As operations manager he will oversee the day-to-day operations of the cellars' production facility. Lorenzo Robledo's duties as cellar master will include overseeing tank room operations. He joined The Hogue Cellars in 1988. Chris Robledo has been with The Hogue Cellars since 1990. His duties as assistant bottling line supervisor include overseeing the bottling line and the sterilization process.

Reed Reinvald Johnson Willows

Brian Fitzgerald has become a partner with Architects Reed Reinvald Johnson Willows of Tacoma. Fitzgerald has specialized in educational facilities and elderly care facilities, and practiced in Oregon for nine years before moving to Washington, where he has practiced in Olympia and Tacoma for the last nine years.

RSP/EQE

John H. Riley has joined RSP/EQE's Seattle office as senior project engineer and project manager. With over 10 years of experience in structural engineering, Riley has developed expertise in the design of new buildings and in retrofit projects, seismic analysis, and cost estimation in connection with seismic events. Greg J. Gilda has joined RSP/EQE as a project engineer, with seven years of professional experience including building design and seismic analysis.

Bumgardner

Jay Magnusson has joined the Bumgardner Architects as a intern architect. He is currently on the design team for the Inn at Port Gardner. Magnusson earned his bachelor's degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1993. He also studied for one year at Helsinki University of Technology.
