Cinnabon

Cinnabon World Famous Cinnamon Rolls selected the Seattle-based advertising firm of Wong Doody to handle its national advertising. Currently the firm is opening a new bakery every week. Other Wong Doody accounts include the Seattle Sonics, Microsoft and Skipper's Seafood.

Summit Planning & Public Affairs

Summit Planning & Public Affairs, Inc., a Seattle-based firm providing public policy, community and transportation planning services in the Northwest, Alaska and Hawaii, has moved Kristine Hill into the position of president and CEO. Jennifer Schulstad is a new research associate.

Bank Northwest

Robert Olson has been named CEO and president of Bank Northwest, a new community bank being organized to do business in Bellingham and Whatcom County. Olson has been involved as president and CEO in developing other successful banks, including South Sound Bank in Olympia, Community Bank of Renton and Rainier Bank of Oregon.

Coinstar

Coinstar, manufacturer of coins-to-cash machines, has hired Dennis Johnson as director of sales and marketing promotion. Coinstar manufactures self-service machines that accept a consumer's stash of coins, automatically counts and sorts them, and then provides a voucher that can be exchanged at the checkstand for cash, groceries or other purchases.

Cort Directions

Cort Directions has formed a relationship with Payroll Online Corporations of Bellevue for sales of Cort's Windows-based software system. As a Value Added Reseller (VAR) for Cort's Payroll and HR system, Payroll Online will market Cort software in Washington state. The Cort Payroll and HR System for Windows represents the firm's entry into the user systems market.

Wing Luke Asian Museum

The Wing Luke Asian Museum received three awards for excellence at the annual recognition ceremony sponsored by the Association of King County Historical Organizations (AKCHO). The awards recognize outstanding exhibits and programs developed by historical organizations and museums. Helen Kay, co-president of the museum, received a certificate of recognition for her lifelong efforts to preserve the history and culture of Asian Pacific Americans in King County.

DEA

Charles Burnham and Terry Larson have been named associates with David Evans and Associates, Inc. Burnham, who has been with DEA since 1992, is a senior project engineer specializing in rail engineering. He recently completed work on the $25 million Banfield Light Rail Transit System project for Tri-Met in Portland. A professional land surveyor, Larson is the manager of DEA's Tacoma planning and natural resources group. He serves as the project manager for the 1,500-acre Sunrise master planned community. He is also involved in providing planning services for a 600-acre destination resort near Mt. Rainier.

Pacific Testing Labs

Paul Way has joined Pacific Testing Laboratories (PTL) as project manager for forensic engineering. He specializes in electrical system design, failure analysis and remediation, power plant engineering and wastewater treatment plant start-up.

Shapiro

Curtis LaPierre has joined Shapiro and Associates as a landscape architect, land planner and manager of the mitigation design department. He specializes in interdisciplinary design projects with complex permitting requirements. LaPierre is currently working on site plans for the Woodinville Red Hook Ale Brewery expansion; federal aviation administration housing in Bethel, Alaska; and a large-scale golf course and residential development master plan in Washington. In addition to project work, he supervises four landscape architects at Shapiro.

Sienna

Lisa Pearse has joined Sienna Architecture Company as a project manager for the interiors group. Her previous position was with Andrea Bainbridge Design, where she worked on projects for Nike and the Port of Portland among others. Sienna has added Heather Flegel and Scott Barton to the retail group. Flegel has worked with Industrial Design Corporation in Portland, and Barton recently relocated to Portland to pursue his interest in sustainable design. Robert Smith was selected to join the firm for the spring and summer as an intern.

Symonds

Symonds Consulting Engineers, Inc. has hired Jennifer Shields as marketing coordinator. Shields has over four years of experience in marketing for professional engineering and planning disciplines. She will also be serving on the Board of Directors for the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS).
