Parallel Communications has made the following additions to its office: Jody Huber has been hired as senior account supervisor. She will assist in new business development and supervise several of the agencies accounts. Mary Warsinske has joined Parallel as account coordinator. She will provide support for the account managers and coordinate project flow. David Pavelka will use his skills in graphic design and project management in his new position as senior designer. Faisal Jamal, Brent Krum and Dave Owen have all joined Parallel as software engineers. Jamil will serve in the area of multimedia development. Krum will be writing applications to create and support Web sites. Owen will work as a senior software developer. Alison King is Parallel's new receptionist. Parallel Communications, based in Redmond, is an integrated marketing communications agency. The agency specialized in traditional advertising, Web site development, identity programs, package design, online marketing/content development and interactive multimedia Adware.
Micki Dahl Christensen has joined Reed, Revell-Pechar Advertising and Public Relations as senior graphic designer. She will be responsible for creative design, web graphics and collateral pieces, in addition to providing advertising solutions for a variety of high-tech clients. Reed, Revell-Pechar, based in Bellevue, provides accessible, full-service marketing communications to the high tech industry.
Roger Riemath has been named vice president - information systems for Van Waters & Rogers Inc., a subsidiary of Univar Corporation. Van Waters & Rogers Inc. is a distributor of chemicals and allied products to industry.
Seattle-based XactLabs, Inc. has hired Kurt Baufield as vice president of sales. Baufield will oversee the company's daily sale operations. His primary responsibility is to provide the sales team with the leadership needed to increase sales for the next generation of XactLabs products. XactLabs develops advanced on-line backup and retrieval technologies. This advanced technology deploys the latest capabilities in virus scanning, encryption, compression and data transmission.
Kurt Baufield has been appointed to the board of directors at Peak Technologies. Baufield has been instrumental in developing and implementing the distribution strategy for Peak's newly announced WebPage Builder series and planned launch of new Internet Performance Products. Peak Technologies, Inc. is a diversified software company with offices in Vancouver, B.C., Bellingham, WA, and Boston, MA.
Diana Denham, environmental business group manager at David Evans & Associates, Inc., (DEA) has been promoted to senior associate. She specializes in environmental assessments and documentation and her recent projects include on-call services for the Seattle District Corps of Engineers and environmental documentation for the placement of more than 1,100 miles of buried fiber optic cable on routes in Washington Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Montana. Bart Cima has also been appointed a senior associate. Cima is discipline director for transportation at DEA. He as been active in the development of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) for state departments of transportation and toll authorities across the country. His recent projects include the Puget Sound Regional Mayday System operational test and Seattle's South Downtown Transportation Study.
Chris Mefford, transportaiton planner, has joined Parametrix, Inc. He is involved in developing the Kittitas County non-motorized system plan and analyzing highway improvements and expansions in Pierce County. Most recently, Mefford was an economic and transportaiton planning consultant with BRW, Inc. He has completed a variety of traffic studies on State Route 520 and the Evergreen Point Bridge, including extensive work with geographic information systems. John Toll, environmental scientist, has joined the toxicology and chemistry division of Parametrix, where he is at work on several domestic and international environmental risk assessment and management projects. Toll is recognized for his work on developing probabilistic risk assessment techniques and for environmental decision analysis. He is now working with the National Research Marine Council on assessing the risks and benefits of contaminated sediment management options. Recently Toll spent three years with Foster Wheeler environmental Corporation, and before that he was a member of the faculty of environmental and resource engineering at State University of New York.
June Cotner Graves has joined the Poulsbo office of The Onyx Group, an international architectural and planning firm based in Alexandria, Virginia, as marketing coordinator and business manager. She has 20 years of experience in marketing and business management, and is co-author of "The Home Design Handbook," which is in its fifth printing. David L. Nakhjovani has joined the firm as an intern architect. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Nakhjovani has worked in architecture for six years and has assisted Onyx in a planning capacity on Naval projects on the west coast and in Hawaii. Anita M. Hoyer has joined the firm full time after completing a degree in interior design, and will assist the firm in interior design projects. Tara M. Jennings an Scott L. Satter have joined the Onyx Group as CAD operators. Shawna Sitton is the new office manager, bringing over 20 years of professional office experience to the firm.
M. Scott Hayes has been promoted to production supervisor at Nies Mapping Group, Inc. in Bellevue. He will supervise digital mapping, CAD editing and digital orthophoto production. Current projects include digital mapping in South America, roadway mapping for Spokane County, and digital orthophoto mapping for the U.S. Geological Survey in Kentucky. R. Harvey Hughes has joined Nies as vice president of marketing. Harvey has a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University and an master's degree with emphasis in sales and marketing. He also has extensive background in geography, cartography, database development and raster imaging.
