MWW/Savitt

Dana Smith has been promoted to senior account executive at MWW/Savitt. Smith will manage the company's government relations campaigns, and work on high-impact accounts. MWW/Savitt, is the West Coast office of MWW/Strategic Communications, Inc., an independent public relations firm.

Lifestyles

Andrew "Andy" Kaltenbach has joined Lifestyles, one of the largest manufacturers of bathtubs and spas in the Northwest. He is the South Sound plumber sales representative. He will work with plumbers throughout south King, Pierce and Thurston counties. Lifestyles in located in Woodinville.

KeyCorp

Jean Miller has been named vice president and regional Structured Finance manager for Cleveland-based KeyCorp's Northwest and Rocky Mountain Regions. Structured Finance is a new line of business for KeyBank in both regions, focusing on the commercial finance market.

Metawave

Metawave Communications Corp. has hired James "Jay" Daley as senior vice president of sales and marketing. Headquartered in Redmond, Metawave Communications Corporation designs, manufactures and markets multibeam antenna systems and engineering services that enable wireless communications service providers to optimize call quality, coverage and capacity.

American Arbitration Association

The American Arbitration Association, the nation's largest provider of dispute resolution services, has appointed Sheri Raders to the position of Seattle regional vice president. Raders will assume responsibility for oversight of case administration, management of staff, marketing, training, public speaking and education on alternative dispute resolution.

Glumac International

Glumac International, a full service engineering firm, has added five new employees to its electrical engineering department. Matt Dorsey has joined as senior electrical designer. He will be responsible for creating detailed designs of electrical systems and equipment as well as for construction administration. Judy Ebmeyer has been hired as electrical project manager. Ebmeyer will work closely with clients by attending job meetings, designing electrical systems, supervising projects and installation and following up on projects. Dan Steinert and Tahir Khalil both join as electrical designers. Steinert will work with electrical design and coordination, and construction drawings. He will also specialize in lighting projects. Khalil will assist the project manager with designing electrical systems and the CAD team with drafting. Mike Hamrick has been hired as an electrical design technician. He will be responsible for project coordination, client and owner relations, compilation of design data and production of construction documents. Glumac International provides mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, energy and acoustical engineering services. The firm has offices in Portland, San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles and Madrid.

Journal staff

On the Boards, a Seattle theater and performance company, has purchased the A Contemporary Theatre (ACT) building at North Roy Street and First Avenue West. The price was $1.6 million. The company plans to replace the theater's thrust stage with a proscenium stage and revamp the building's street-level spaces on Roy to include 5,000 square feet of retail. It will take over the building when ACT moves this fall to the renovated Eagles Auditorium downtown. On the Boards' first performance season in its new home won't come until 1997.

Shannon & Wilson

Shannon & Wilson has added W. Paul Grant and J. Duncan Findlay to the board of directors and promoted Ron Salley to chairman of the board. Findlay was recently named branch manager of the company's corporate office in Seattle. In addition, Larry Peterson has joined the firm as business development manager. He has over 22 years of experience in environmental engineering and hazardous waste services. He will focus on expanding environmental services to private industry and Washington's public ports. Norm Dion has joined the hydrology staff at Shannon & Wilson. He recently retired from the U.S. Geological Survey as chief of the Water Resources Division in Tacoma, where he developed and supervised regional groundwater investigative programs on behalf of local county, state, tribal and federal clients. He has over 30 years of hydrogeologic experience focusing on groundwater resources in Washington. At Shannon & Wilson, he provides expert witness, groundwater supply groundwater quality and aquifer protection services. Scott Bender, principal hydrogeologist and manager of the hydrogeology group at Shannon & Wilson, is the seventh professional to be certified with the National Ground Water Association in the state of Washington. He is active in aquifer and wellhead protection in Washington and large-scale dewatering projects across the country. His recent efforts have included providing assistance to the city of St. Louis in converting a large percentage of the city's drinking water source from the Missouri River to a groundwater source.

Coffman

Jack Rogan has joined Coffman Engineers' Seattle office as a senior mechanical engineer. He previously worked for Jansen & Rogan Engineers in New York. He is currently working on the Stafford Creek Corrections Center and St. Joseph's Hospital projects. Wes Peper, an electrical drafter with Coffman, has been promoted to computer system technician.

DCI

Roger Heeringa has become a principal with D'Amato Conversano Inc. (DCI) He joined DCI in 1989, was promoted to project manager in 1993 and became an associate in 1995. Heeringa's experience includes the structural design of retirement and medical facilities and industrial projects and the analysis of ship structures. He has a strong background in masonry design and design of excavation shoring. Among the projects he is currently managing are additions to Calvary Temple, a private school in Modesto, Calif., and Bethany of the NorthWest, an eight-story post-tensioned concrete retirement center in Everett. Troy E. Bean has been promoted to associate at DCI, where he has been employed for seven years. He provided structural design for the Van Doren Sales complex in East Wenatchee, the West Coast Paper headquarters in Kent and the Shops at First Street in Bellevue. Bean is currently project manager for the Security Capital Industrial Trust at the Fife Corporate Center.

Dees

Shawn A. Jensen CAD manager at the landscape architecture firm of Bruce Dees & Associates, has been promoted to associate. He joined the firm in 1991. Jensen is currently coordinating the CAD work for design of the University of Washington's East Campus Athletic Fields, which include the new Husky baseball and soccer stadiums.

W&H Pacific

Rob Millar has been selected as an associate in the Bellevue office of W&H Pacific. After graduating from the University of Washington in 1988, Millar joined W&H Pacific as a civil engineer specializing in airport design. Paul Lee has joined the firm as a CAD technician. He has more than 13 years experience providing technical and design support in the civil engineering industry.

Art Anderson

Nancy K. Raty has joined Art Anderson Associates as an intern architect. While previously managing her own firm in Alaska, Raty prepared designs for a $1.2 million addition to the Seventh Day Adventist private school in Anchorage. At Art Anderson she is participating in ongoing design for the new Port Orchard City Hall and the Moanalua Terrace multi-family housing project for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Pinnacle

Steve Fisher has been promoted to project engineer at The Pinnacle Consulting Group Inc., where he will design industrial facilities layouts and material handling/storage systems. Some of the clients he will be working with include Adams News, McCallum Envelope, Quebecor Integrated Media, an McKay Truck Lines, Inc.

Parametrix

David Jennings has joined Parametrix, Inc. of Kirkland, where he will focus on hydrology and hydraulic modeling and permitting as a project manager and project engineer. Jennings was with the city of Renton for five years, where he was a project manager in the Surface Water Utility. He managed the Cedar River and May Creek Basin Plans.

NBBJ

Barbara Breckenfeld has joined the marketing department of NBBJ as health care marketing manager. She will oversee the marketing activities of one of the firm's strongest markets. Breckenfeld was previously marketing manager for Artech Fine Art Services. She holds a fine arts degree from the Philadelphia College of Arts and has completed the University of Washington Extension Certificate Program in Integrated Marketing Communications.

Virginia Mason

Sandy Novak, administrative director of eight Virginia Mason satellite clinics, has received the Terin Guinn Management Award. The award recognizes those who demonstrate an outstanding capacity for leadership, courage, vision and team-building in their profession or department.

Imagio Technology

Imagio Technology Advertising and Public Relations has hired Bradley Holst as art director. Imagio, headquartered in Seattle and with offices in the San Francisco Bay Area, offers advertising, PR and marketing services.

Skagit Women's Alliance & Network

The Skagit Women's Alliance & Network (SWAN) is seeking nominations for the 1996 Business and Professional Woman of the Year Award and for the New Lifetime Achievement Award. These awards recognize two outstanding women in the community who have demonstrated excellence in their work and have made contributions to Skagit County. Jane Wells has been named manager, planning and business development for Van Waters & Rogers' pest control supply business, Professional Products & Services. Van Waters & Rogers Inc., a subsidiary of Univar, is a leading distributor of chemicals and allied products to industry.

YMCA

The YMCA of Greater Seattle has selected Monica Elenbaas as its new director of communications. She previously served as community relations director for the South Sound YMCA in Olympia.

North American Energy Services

North American Energy Services has appointed Stan Bump to vice president, power plant operations and technical services. Bump will be responsible for overseeing operation and maintenance of all domestic and international plants under contract to North America. Headquarted in Issaquah, North American is owned jointly by Continental Energy Services, (a subsidiary of the Montana Power Company) and Illinova Generating Company (a subsidiary of Illinova Corporation). It is one of the leading providers of third party power plant operating services in the world.

Klein

The Henry Klein Partnership has completed design on the largest construction project ever approved by the Mount Vernon school board. It includes Mount Baker Middle School, Little Mountain (K-6) School and several shared facilities. The board recently accepted a $12.64 million bid from Heritage Construction of Everett. The two schools are expected to house between 550 and 600 students each, and the construction project will total about 135,000 square feet. The buildings will be built on land now being readied at the intersection of Section Street and LaVenture Avenue. A Commons building between them will house shared athletic facilities, a library, cafeteria and music functions. The building will be connected but open to the public during evening hours when the classroom buildings are closed. The K-6 school is located in a quiet part of the site near an existing stand of trees. It allows for clustering of students in "schools within schools." The Middle School is a two-story structure located near the intersection. A covered walkway links it to the Commons.

WaterLeaf

WaterLeaf Architecture & Interiors is teamed with Lorentz Bruun Construction to design and build the three-block King Taylor Business Center. Initiated under the Portland Development Commission's Central Eastside urban Renewal Plan, the light industrial sanctuary has the potential to evolve into pedestrian oriented business space. The design include simple concrete tilt-up structures which are embellished with form articulation, curtain wall glazing and cantilevered steel canopies.

Thompson Vaivoda

Thompson Vaivoda and Associates of Portland is currently involved in the design of the Nike North Campus expansion, the 28-story Fox Tower in downtown Portland, the Steinbeck Museum in Salinas, California, Kimbrough Hall and the Washington State University Campus an several cinemas throughout the Pacific Northwest.
