Financial Consulting Solutions Group

Tania Le has joined Financial Consulting Solutions Group, Inc. as a staff consultant. She is working on developing a conceptual model for forecasting reserve levels for the City of Bellevue. FCS Group is a management consulting firm based in Redmond which specializes in municipal financial management. The firm offers sewer, water, surface water, and solid waste utility financial planning and rate study consulting for its public sector clients, as well as special cost of service, performance auditing, cost containment, budgeting, and management studies for both general government and other special enterprise funded organizations.

InfoAccess

InfoAccess Inc. has hired Mark Craemer as product marketing manager and has promoted Brian Dirking to program manager. Craemer will oversee and execute all marketing activities for both the company's Transit and GUIDE family of products. Dirking will be responsible for managing all development and technical aspects of the product lines. Headquartered in Bellevue, InfoAccess Inc. develops electronic publishing software products.

YMCA

The YMCA of Greater Seattle has named Christy Lueders as vice president/chief financial officer. She comes to the YMCA with 17 years experience in business and banking, most recently as vice president and relationship manager for U.S. Bank.

Pacific Crest Securities

Pacific Crest Securities has hired Laura Richardson as a retail and consumer products research analyst. Previously, Richardson was director of research at Lake West Group, a Cleveland-based retail consulting group. Pacific Crest Securities provides banking services to corporations, financial institutions, government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, and individuals.

Westin

Westin Hotels & Resorts has announced that it will manage its first property in Guam, The Westin Resort Guam. The acquisition of the property is a result of a recently negotiated contract with MDI Guam Corporation, a Japanese development and real estate company. The 21-story Westin resort is located along Tumon Bay. Westin now manages 19 properties in the Asia-Pacific region.

Hammerquist & Saffel

Nine pieces produced by Hammerquist & Saffel Creative Services, Seattle, have been selected to appear in Creativity 26. Creativity 26 is an annual publication recognizing the best talent in the advertising industry. The pieces chosen are a combination of consumer, trade and public services advertisements.

Elliot Bay Design Group

Elliot Bay Design Group has named James Towers as senior marine manager. Previously Towers served as project manager at Dakota Creek Industries. Elliot Bay Design Group is a Seattle-based naval architecture and marine engineering firm.

Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland

Jerry Kindinger, litigation attorney at Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland, has been elected managing partner of the firm. He is the seventh person to fill the position in the 99-year history of the firm.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has names Stanley Stephenson Jr. as regional commissioner for the Pacific Region headquartered in San Francisco. He will direct the agency that collects, processes, analyzes and disseminates information relating to employment and unemployment, prices, compensation, and a wide range of other economic statistical programs throughout the region. These statistical and economic data are widely used by public, business, labor, Congress, and federal, state, and local governments. The San Francisco office covers the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington, as well as the Territories of American Samoa and Guam.

Alaska Housing Finance Corporation

Fairbanks accountant Michael Cook has been named to the board of directors of the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC). Cook has worked for various state agencies, cities, boroughs, banks, and other private sector companies including ANCSA corporations and charitable groups. AHFC is a public corporation that finances mortgage loans from private lending institutions in Alaska through the issuance of taxable and tax-exempt bonds. Governed by a seven-member board of directors, AHFC is also responsible for the state's rural, elderly, student and low-income housing programs.

Hoy Management & Investment, Inc.

Jack Bornstein has joined the Bellevue firm of Hoy Management & Investment, Inc. as the community sales manager for Alki Beach Towers, a condominium development in West Seattle. He previously sold new homes with Intacorp and Windemere Builder Services. Mark Bornstein has also joined Hoy Management & Investment, Inc., as director of sales and marketing. He is president of Marketing Decisions, a real estate marketing consultation firm. Mark will continue his consulting practice while working on all of Hoy Management properties.

1996 Nellie Cashman Award

Peggy Witte, founder and president of Royal Oak Mines, is the recipient of the 1996 Nellie Cashman Award. The award honors women business owners who have demonstrated leadership and innovation in developing and managing their business, and are active participants in community service. Witte founded Royal Oak Mines in 1989 after acquiring the Giant Yellowknife and Pamour groups. Based in Kirkland, Royal Oak Mines is a major North American gold producer with annual sales over $200 million an is considered a leader in the gold production industry. The company has over 1500 employees in Canada and the U.S. The Nellie Cashman Award is awarded annually and is sponsored by Women Business Owners.

ASCE

The Seattle Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) will install Mike Stansbury as president on October 9, during a section meeting at the Bellevue Hilton Hotel. He served as a director of the section for two years. Stansbury was previously the chair of the Water Resources and Environmental Engineering Group. He is a registered civil engineer and water resources section manager. He is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento. Other officers installed for 1996-97 are: John Hastig, president-elect; Diane Hilmo, secretary; Tom Armour, treasurer; Stephen Hart, 1997 director; Ron Leimkuhler, 1999 director; Tom McDonald, 1998 director; John Welch, immediate past president; and Monique Nykamp, associate member forum representative.

AKB

Charles E. Bridges has joined AKB Engineers, Inc. as director of marketing. He recently served as marketing manager with Summit Technology. His background also includes service marketing and client relation spanning 15 years in both public and private sectors. M. Scott VanSchaardenburg joined AKB Engineers as senior structural engineer. A graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, VanSchaardenburg specializes in industrial design. A former resident of South Carolina, he is knowledgeable of the structural design criteria required to with stand hurricane force winds up to 125 miles per hour. VanSchaardenburg is currently at work on a $15 million, 150,000 square-foot distribution center for the State of Washington encompassing superflat slabs and coordinating with material handling systems.

Coffman

Kenneth "Dutch" Opdycke recently joined Coffman Engineers' Seattle office as senior project manager in the mechanical engineering department. He was previously employed by Hermanson Corporation. He specializes in the design of HVAC and plumbing systems for hospital, retail and office building projects, and is currently working on projects at Children's Hospital and Medical Center. Diana Dunkle has joined Coffman Construction Management as a construction accounting specialist. Diana has 18 years experience in the construction industry, managing cost accounting for residential and commercial construction projects. She is currently working on Sun Tower Piping System Removal, Northhaven Retirement Apartments Piping Replacement and System Upgrades, and Hawthorne Retirement Community Addition and Renovations. New to the electrical department is Dean Kandlik, a drafter with seven years CAD experience. Dean is currently working on the Northgate Mall renovation project, as well as various projects for Franciscan Health System and Microsoft Corporation.

BRW Group

Donald Samdahl has been named vice president and senior transportation engineer in the Seattle office of the BRW Group. A multimodal transportation expert with 20 years of experience, Samdahl has expertise in engineering and planning for corridor studies, comprehensive local agency transportation plans, statewide growth management studies, high occupancy vehicle (HOV) planning, and application of congestion management systems. He is a noted authority in the Northwest on transportation growth management plans and policies. Previously, he was a vice president of JHK & Associates and a transportation systems manager for the City of Bellevue Samdahl provides national expertise in HOV priority systems and transportation demand management. He is currently working on the Sea-Tac Airport Personal Rapid transit project, Southwest Washington Ports Study, and Freeway Interchange Traffic Studies in Bellevue.

BVT

Gerald Vammen and Daniel B. Taylor of Bittman Vammen Taylor (BVT), Seattle's second oldest architectural firm, have joined Mulvanny Partnership Architects, a Bellevue based firm with a multi-state practice of over 90 employees. Founded in 1906 by Henry Bittman, many of BVT's early buildings shapes the downtown core and have been designated as "Landmark Structures." These include the Eagles Auditorium, King County Courthouse, Olympic Life Tower, and the Terminal Sales Building. Recent restoration projects include the Securities Building lobby and exterior improvements to the Joshua Green Building. Currently BVT is focusing on retail and mixed use projects, and will continue its practice in Bellevue.

JGM

Jongejan Gerrard McNeal (JGM) has promoted Craig Lewis and Arthur Seidel to the position of associate. Craig Lewis has been with the firm since 1980. He has had extensive experience with park and recreation facilities, street improvement projects, and libraries, and specializes in water-conserving irrigation practices. Arthur Seidel joined Jongejan Gerrard McNeal in 1990. His experience during the past 24 years includes eighteen years of private practice in California and Texas, and his background includes corporate, commercial, office, urban spaces, city and state, multi-family, and private residential projects and interiorscapes.

HLA

Lee Boylan has joined HLA Infrastructure as senior highway designer in HLA's transportation group. Boylan brings to HLA over 30 years of experience in road and highway design including preparation of plans, specifications and estimated, construction and surveying. HLA has also added Susan Eubank as transportation design engineer and Tri Ong as an environmental engineer.

Giles

John Zipper has joined Giles Engineering Associates, Inc. as Northwest regional manager. Zipper has 17 years professional experience in the Puget Sound region, with a primary focus on geotechnical and environmental engineering for land development, public works/ infrastructure, industrial, and commercial projects. He was formerly employed by Rittenhouse-Zeman & Associates, Inc., which became AGRA Earth and Environmental.

Zervas

Zervas Group Architects has hired Leslie Stark as administrative assistant and marketing coordinator. A graduate of Washington State University, Stark has held similar positions with Botanical Laboratories and Associated General Contractors of Washington.

Sienna Architecture Company

Shauna Stinson has been promoted to marketing manager at Sienna Architecture Company in Portland. Stinson has been with Sienna's marketing department for seven years. Stinson is a member of Portland City Club and the Society for Marketing Professional Services. Blaise Kim brings her design strengths to the firm as job captain. Kim, whose experience is weighted heavily in medical facilities, will work with both the retail and healthcare teams. Kim earned her undergraduate degrees from Washington State University. Svetlana Astrakhan will provide drafting expertise for Sienna's corporate service group. Astrahkan received her Bachelor of Science from the Moscow Institute of Land Use Planning Engineers where she studied the architecture of rural settlements. Most recently, she worked with VanDomelen/Looijenga/McGarrigle/Knauf. David Waldow, a recent graduate of the University of Oregon, joins the firm's corporate services team as a drafter/designer. He brings computer aided drafting experience from Tomasi Lawry Coker DeSilva Architecture, Brackman Engineering and Lawrence Simons & James Brecht, Inc. Sienna has hired Jennifer Jenkins as an administrative assistant. Jenkins will work closely with the government team as well as the accounting department.
