Jennifer Bucher, Robert Culver, Berrie Martinis and Andrea Orth have joined the Seattle law firm of Garvey, Schubert & Barer as associates. Bucher is a litigator whose practice focuses on professional malpractice, construction, insurance coverage and personal injury cases. Culver concentrates his practice on all aspects of consumer and Chapter 11 cases as well as litigating contract, tax and collection cases. Martinis has joined the firm's corporate practice group, and Orth joins the firm's litigation practice group.
Redmond-based AdCorp has hired Mark LaFond as production manager and Pamela Ridgway as account executive. LaFond will oversee scheduling and quality control in the company's design, photography, electronic pre-press and printing facility. Ridgway will over see client services for the company.
Hammerquist & Saffel Creative Services, a Seattle-based agency, has picked up four new clients. Joining forces with H & S will be companies Cascade Clear, Cascade Designs, Milgard Window and Mission Ridge ski area.
Tim Prather and Mike Morrison have joined the management team at Andover Printing. Prather will act as operations manager and Morrison will serve as prepress manager. Together they will share the responsibility for all production operations at Andover. Andover Printing is located in Seattle.

Sequel Technology Corporation has appointed Albert Behr as vice president, Cleve Adams as executive of sales, and Eric Peterson as chief financial officer. Headquartered in Bellevue, Sequel Technology Corporation develops solutions and technologies to manage Internet, intranet and online use.
Tillicum Village & Tours, Inc. has appointed Pat Villa to director of sales. Villa has over 14 years of experience within the travel and tourism industry. Tillicum Village & Tours, Inc. is a Native-American cultural center and restaurant located on Blake island, eight miles outside of Seattle.
Wade Leathers has joined the Seattle firm of Foster Pepper & Shefelman as "of counsel", and Christopher Emch has joined as an associate. Leathers concentrates his practice on federal tax planning for domestic and international corporate acquisitions, reorganization, joint ventures and divestitures. Emch's practice emphasizes business law, including commercial, corporate, and securities litigation.
The University of Washington Big "W" Alumni Club will hold its annual blanket drive for St. Vincent de Paul and the homeless and needy on November 4-10. The community is encouraged to donate blankets and bedding or make a monetary contribution. Husky fans can drop off blankets or make a monetary contribution at Husky Stadium before the Washington-Oregon game on November 9. Volunteers will be on hand at all entrances of the stadium. Other drop off bins will be located at the UW Alumni House located at 1415 N.E. 45th St. (November 4-8, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), area Thriftway stores, Washington's Food Store and SleepCountry USA locations, November 4-8. Color Marketing Group's (CMG) Fall International Conference, "Color Passages", will be held in Seattle, November 3-5. Members will participate in cooperative Color Workshops where Color Direction will be forecast for products appearing in 1999's Contract/Commercial markets -- Retail, Hospitality, Office and Health Care. CMG is a not-for-profit, international association of color design professionals, whose members forecast Color Directions one to three years in advance for manufactured products in all industries.

The Norman Company has hired Matt Sweeney in its Investment Services Group. "With more than a decade of experience in investment brokerage, acquisitions and other related positions in Puget Sound commercial real estate industry, his presence will enhance the expertise of our veteran investment services team," company president James M. Norman. Sweeney, who joined the group in September, has 13 years of experience in the commercial real estate field, including investment brokerage, acquisitions and dipostions, asset management, mortgage banking and appraisal. Before joining The Norman Company, Sweeney worked as an investment sales associate for CB Commercial, and as vice president of acquisitions, sales and asset management, mortgage banking and appraisal.
Ava Nelson was promoted to property manager in Norris Beggs & Simpson's Bellevue office and Dan Foster joined the Bellevue office to specialize in sales and leasing of industrial properties in the Kent Valley. Nelson has been an assistant property manager assisting with the management of Plaza Center and U.S. Bank Plaza for over five years. She joined Norris Beggs & Simpson four years ago when the company was awarded the management contract. Nelson will be responsible for the buildings' operations. Foster was previously a Demographics Manager for Northwest Atlantic Parnters, a commerical real estate company.
Jeffrey McLean began his real estate career this year with MacPherson's Better Homes & Gardens, after eight years as a submarine sonar technician with the U.S. Navy. Donna Lee Laue has joined the Windermere Real Estate's Yarrow Bay office as a sales associate.
The Skyview Motel in Shoreline has been given to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Seattle Council, to use for two years as a shelter for homeless families and individuals. Arnie Bergh, owner of the 16 unit motel, signed the agreement on Oct. 29 with the the St. Vincent de Paul Society which allows the Society to use the facility beginning Nov. 1. "This is the most wonderful and unexpected donation for us. There is such a critical shortage of housing available. It's exciting as we head into the Christmas season that we will have a place to provide housing for homeless families and individuals," states Barbara Carver, president of St. Vincent de Paul, Seattle Council. Painting, minor carpentry, decorating and landscaping is needed for the motel. St. Vincent de Paul asks local groups in the greater Seattle area to "Adopt a Room". "We want to make these units a beautiful place for homeless people. We want to uplift their spirits and give them hope," added Carver. Volunteers can help on Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 9 to 5 p.m. Financial donations and volunteer skills are needed to renovate the St. Vincent de Paul Shelter for the homeless. Coldwell Banker Bain Associates announced the addition of four new sales associates. The Issaquah office announced two new additions. Nina Alghemand comes to Coldwell Banker Bain after working with Prudential Preferred Properties for two years. Alan Berkwitt is the Issaquah office's newest associate broker. Berkwitt is formerly of Chapman & Associates, Inc., where he specialized in residential real estate appraisals for more than ten years. Lorene Martin has joined the Redmond office and Janice Warner joins the Capitol Hill office, both are new to real estate.

CB Commercial Real Estate Group has announced the promotion of Jerry McCormick to vice president. McCormick specializes in high technology and industrial building sales and leasing in the Bellevue office. McCormick has been with CB Commercial since April of 1985.
