Fluke

Fluke Corp. announced the appointment of David E. Katri to the position of chief operating officer and executive vice president. The company also announced that George Winn, current COO and president, intends to retire in 1997. Winn will continue to serve as president until May 1, 1997, and will remain a member of the board. Katri joined Fluke in 1975 in the finance organization and led Fluke's recent entrance into the fast-growing networking arena. The Everett-based company makes electronic test tools.Gordon, Thomas, Honeywell Gary Hood, Henry Webb and Timothy Ashcraft have been named as associates in the law firm of Gordon, Thomas, Honeywell, Malamca, Peterson & Daheim. Hood focuses on litigation and general practice, Webb concentrates on litigation and environmental and natural resources law, Ashcraft focuses on litigation. Gordon, Thomas, Honeywell has offices located in Seattle and Tacoma.

Bogle & Gates

James Tune, chairman of the Seattle law firm of Bogle & Gates, has accepted an additional role as head of the firm's Business Department. The business group handles complex transactions involving emerging companies, corporate finance, commercial banking and international issues as well as traditional business needs such as state taxation, estate planning and real estate.

Foster Pepper & Shefelman

The Seattle law firm of Foster Pepper & Shefelman has contributed $30,000, landscaping and construction expertise, as well as labor from attorneys, staff, and friends to help Zion Prep complete an addition to its Pre-School Village. Zion Prep is a private school in Rainier Valley which serves predominately African-American students from pre-school through eighth grade.

Kaufer Miller Communications

Bellevue-based Kaufer Miller Communications, a full service public relations, communications and marketing firm, has added Joe Auman, Erica Perez, Scott VanderLey, and Jessica Shapiro to its staff. Auman will act as a financial controller. Perez, assistant account executive, will serve as media relations support, account planning and event coordination to the telecommunications and wireless industry account teams. VanderLey, account coordinator, will support the Microsoft account. Shapiro, account coordinator, will work on the Onyx Software and Ark Interface II, Inc. accounts.

PhyCom

Julie Klapstein has joined PhyCom Corporation, the Bellevue-based software company, as chief executive officer. Allen Puckett, the company's former CEO, will act as executive vice president for strategy and business development, focusing on product research and the establishment of strategic partnership. Fran Massimiano has joined PhyCom as vice president of sales and Pearl Murray joins as CFO.

Salute' of Bellevue

Italian chef Raffaele Calise will open his third restaurant this month, Salute' of Bellevue. Calise founded the original Salute' restaurant at 3426 N.E. 55th St. in Seattle, and has since opened Salute' in Citta, located in Seattle's West Coast Vance Hotel, and LaBuca, in Pioneer Square. In preparation for his newest venture, Calise received a $541,000 loan from The Money Store Investment Corporation's Bellevue office to cover purchase of the real estate and construction improvements to the building.

Veteran real estate executive reorganizes Sound Ve

Veteran real estate executive Doug Klappenbach has reorganized Sound Ventures Inc., a Bellevue-based company specializing in the development of commercial, office, retail and industrial properties. The firm, already recognized as a build-to-suit specialist, will also provide brokerage and investment services for real estate clients. The company currently has $10 million of development projects in the pipeline. In addition to its development, investment and brokerage capabilities, Klappenbach says Sound Ventures Inc. will provide integrated construction management and design/development services. The establishment of Sound Ventures marks a "reincarnation" for the company. From 1986 to 1992, Klappenbach's firm developed over 800,000 square-feet of office, industrial and retail properties, primarily in South King County and the Eastside markets. From 1992 through 1996, Klappenbach was vice president/general manager for Opus Northwest, a national developer/contractor, where he directed that company's development and construction business for the Northwest which exceeded $70 million in value. The Opus group of companies was recognized by national Real Estate News as the largest developer in the U.S. in 1995.

Windermere

Jeffrey McLean has joined Windermere Real Estate's Burien office as a sales associate. McLean began his real estate career this year with MacPherson's Better Homes & Gardens, after eight years as a submarine sonar technician with the U.S. Navy.

Pacific Real Estate Advisors

Pacific Real Estate Advisors has announced the addition of mortgage banking capabililites to its core business of real estate valuation and consultation services. Craig Russell has joined Jon Willis and Brian O'Connor and will lead the company's expansion into real estate financial services for both proposed and existing rental housing throughout the Pacific Northwest. Craig was most recently with First Interstate Bank arranging construction financing for residential and commercial projects. He has extensive experience in the Pacific Northwest placing apartment term debt with Fannie Mae and life insurance companies. Pacific Real Estate Advisors also announced its association with TRI Financial Corporation, headquartered in San Francisco. TRI focuses on construction, renovation, acquisition, and refinancing loans for rental housing and senior health care facilities. The company specializes in arranging government agency (FHA and Freddie Mac) financing and is an authority on tax exempt and tax credit financing for affordable rental housing. TRI was the top originator of FHA products for rental and senior housing nationwide last year.

1997 Street of Dreams site announced

Stanwood Development Inc., the producers and organizers of the Seattle Street of Dreams has announced the location for its 14 annual event. The 1997 Seattle Street of Dreams will be held in Blakely Woods, located southeast of the Issaquah Plateau. The showcase of luxury homes will spotlight seven estate sized custom residences constructed by Puget Sound area builders. The homes will average 4,500 square feet on a large 1 to 3 acre lots and will be priced up to $1.2 million. The show will be open to the public July 12 through August 17, 1997. The 1997 featured builders are: Tom Braaten Construction, Classic American Homes, Inc., Encore Design/Build-A Division of Newhall Jones, Inc., Gregerson Custom Homes, Inc., MacPherson Construction and Design, Parkwood Homes, Inc., and Steven S. Smith Construction. Starwood Development has also announced the selection of Coldwell Banker Bain Associated as the exclusive Realtor representative for the 1997 show. Coldwell Banker Bain Assoc.

Coldwell Banker Bain has signed a new office lease and started ground-breaking on the site. Management targets grand opening of the 4,000 square-foot office for late Spring 1997. Located near Pickering Place Retail Center in Issaquah, the all brick building will accommodate ground-floor retail space and plenty of customer parking. The Coldwell Banker Bain office will have a western exposure, 14 foot ceilings, and space for 45 agents. Operating under the firm's pioneering Technology Partnership program, the new Issaquah branch will be equipped with state-of-the art technology, including networked personal computers stations, business software, digital cameras, and color printers. Scott Cameron and Ann Selover are managing brokers for the existing Issaquah office, which presently accommodates 20 sales associates. With the more, Selover and Cameron anticipate the addition of 25 more agents to the roster.
