Douglas Bailey, John Cuddy and Mark Dailey have been named principals in Integrus Architecture. Bailey has been with the firm since 1991, and his recent projects include a penthouse renovation for Greg Thomson Productions and designs for Meadowdale High School's Concert Hall and Experimental Theater in Lynnwood. He served as a national director of the American Institute of Architects from 1992 to 1994, and is also active in the U.S. Institute of Theater Technology. He will lead business development efforts at Integrus. Cuddy, who joined the firm in 1990, leads engineering efforts for the firm. He led design for the Washington State University consolidated Information Center in Richland and U.S. Embassy office building in Bogota, Columbia. Dailey, who has been with the firm since 1990, has been instrumental in the development of several award-winning design projects, including the Otis Orchard Library and a building at Spokane Higher Education Park.
William DeEiel and Scott Aishton have been named principals in the California office of Sclater Kimball Architects. They have nearly three decades of combined experience with the internationally known Jerde Partnership, a firm that DeEiel and Seattle principal Alan Sclater co-founded with Jon Jerde in 1977. DeEiel, Sclater and Seattle principal Alexander Kimball also worked together at Charles Kober Associates, Inc., Sclater Kimball's predecessor firm. DeEiel, who will emphasize international business development and project planning, has been on the design team for the Horton Plaza in San Diego, the Mall of America in Minneapolis and the Euro Disney master plan in France. Aishton spent eight years with DeEiel at Jerde managing a variety of retail/mixed use projects and serving as principal-in-charge of the firm's San Diego office. Most recently, he founded the Horizon Group, a commercial and real estate development company, and held senior management positions with Pan Pacific Development Corporation and The Hahn Company. He will direct business operations ad participate in project management and business development for Sclater Kimball.
Dale Poussier, a senior project engineer at HDR Engineering, Inc., received the 1996 Private Sector Service Award from the American Public Works Association (APWA) in August for his contributions as private sector consultant to public agencies. He received the award for his involvement on APWA's Washington Chapter Construction Standardization Committee, which developed and implemented a single document of specifications and standards that are used for both state and local agencies. This has allowed some manufacturers and contractors to submit lower bids on municipal construction. Kit Loo has joined HDR Engineering, Inc., as a bridge engineer in the company's Seattle office. Loo was a staff engineer for Meridian Engineers and Planners, Inc., in Chicago prior to joining HDR. His responsibilities included supervision of construction projects as well as design and detailing various types of railroad and highway structures. Loo earned a master of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Paul Crivell has joined ECS Engineering Inc., as project electrical engineer. He has worked on several large projects for Betchell Power Corp. and has led ECS' design efforts for electrical service upgrades to SeaTac Airport. He is now leading design on a new substation and utility paralleling power generation system design for the City of Everett. Martin Medak has joined the firm's control and software group. Most of his experience has been in the pulp and paper industry at ATT Rayonier and Weyerhaeuser. He will be involved in instrumentation design and control system software development. Paul Groschl has joined ECS as an electrical and control engineer. He has 15 years of experience in large industrial projects, including work in the Czech Republic. He is now participating in designs for new water pumping stations in Everett and on the Sammamish Plateau.
Douglas Maraist has joined the Poulsbo office of The Onyx Group, which is based in Alexandria, Va. Maraist worked for 10 years as a project architect at Myrvang Architects and has extensive experience in school design. He will now manage a two-year "indefinite quantity" federal design contract with the U.S. Navy.
Pong Jongjitirat has joined the firm Andersen Bjornstad Kane Jacobs, Inc. (ABKJ) as chief bridge engineer for international projects, and project manager responsible for management and design of transportation projects. Previously, he was the structural engineering manager for Entranco. Jongjitirat has more than 23 years of consulting engineering experience. He has been responsible for the design and management of multi-million dollar projects for various state transportation departments and public-works agencies in the western United States. His recent project experience includes the Allen Street Bridge Replacement in Kelso; I-405 Interurban Avenue Interchange in Tukwila; I-90 First Hill Lid on Mercer Island, and the seismic retrofits of a number of bridges on I-5 in Everett. Jongjitirat is a member of the Precast Prestressed Concrete Institute, Post-Tensioning Institute, and the American Institute of Steel Construction.
Howard Thomas has joined the Anchorage office of Redmond-based GeoEngineers, Inc. as an associate. With many years of experience as a civil engineer and geotechnical engineer, Thomas was named "Alaska Engineer of the Year" in 1986. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and is a founding member and past chairman of ASCE's technical council related to cold regions' engineering.
Deborah P. Lambert has joined W&H Pacific's Bellevue office as project manager in the land development group. She has more than 15 years experience in civil engineering design and planning, construction management, environmental compliance and permitting.
Timothy R. Springer has joined The McGranahan Partnership as a project architect. His experience ranges from education to detention facilities, and he is currently at work on the Auburn District Bus Maintenance Facility and Denney Juvenile Justice Center for Snohomish County. Garner F. Miller is an intern architect with the firm and 1993 graduate of Washington State University.
Russ Gaston has joined Otak, Inc. as a project manager in civil engineering. He has over eight years of experience in site development, stream improvements, street and roadway improvements, preparation of plans, specifications, reports and cost estimates for public and private projects. Gaston is currently working on the University of Washington, Bothell/Cascadia Community College Campus development in Bothell. He was previously with the Alpha Engineering Group in Bellevue. Katy Hayes has joined Otak as the receptionist. Hayes was previously employed by the Labateyah Youth Home of United Indians of All Tribes Foundation in Seattle. Alfonso (Butch) Manalo has joined Otak as a survey party chief with over 19 years of technical experience. Manalo was previously employed by White Shield Inc. in Bellevue. Jeff Johnson has joined Otak as a survey party chief with 17 years of technical experience. Johnson was previously employed by Pac-Tech Engineering, Inc. in Bellevue.
Tung T. Ho has joined Weber + Thompson Architects to contribute computer-aided drafting and project management skills for financial, residential and commercial projects.
John Plump, Jr. has recently joined INCA Engineers, Inc. as a senior project manager. He will assume project management responsibilities for several of the company's projects involving heavy civil and water resources design. He will also be responsible for marketing INCA engineering services, with special emphasis on Department of Defense and Corps of Engineers clients. Prior to joining INCA, John was with Harza Northwest in a similar capacity. He also spent 19 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the St. Paul and Portland Districts overseeing the design and construction of numerous Corps' flood control and navigation projects.
Landscape architects Theodore Wall and Len Zickler have been named principals at Jongejan Gerrard McNeal (JGM). Wall, a graduate of Rutgers University and the University of Pennsylvania, joined the firm in 1983. Zickler has returned to JGM after several years of work in general comprehensive planning, park and trail design in the public and private sectors.
Thomas Grindeland has joined West Consultants, Inc. as senior hydraulic engineer. He is a registered professional engineer with over 16 years of experience in water resources and hydraulic engineering. Prior to joining WEST, Grindeland was employed as the senior office leader for EA Engineering, Science, & Technology.
Tracey Simpson has joined Fletcher Farr Ayotte (FFA), Portland, as director of interiors. She currently working on interior design projects for the Greenwood Inn, PERS Corporate Headquarters and Capital Consultants. Bob Boileau has joined FFA as a project architect and designer. He is currently working on the Village at Lovejoy Fountain and a mixed-use project at Orenco Station. Don Arambula joins FFA as senior urban designer. He is currently working on the Oregon City Regional Framework Plan and the Albany Square Plan.
George Hallowell, principal of Studio Pacifica Ltd., has accepted appointment by Seattle Mayor Norm Rice to a two-year term on the Mayor's Small Business Task Force. His partner, Karen Braitmayer, was appointed to the Washington State Building Code Council last year.
AAA Washington, a not-for-profit travel services organization, has appointed Charles Liekweg as president and chief executive officer, effective December 1. Liekweg replaces retiring CEO Paul Herron. He will be based at AAA Washington's corporate office in Bellevue.
Lane Savitch has joined Stevens Healthcare as senior executive director. He will be primarily responsible for providing leadership and direction to outpatient services at Stevens Hospital, located in Edmonds.
William Pope has joined Bellevue-based Vulcan Northwest Inc. as general counsel. He will be responsible for legal matters concerning The Paul Allen Group, the Allen Foundations and the Experience Music Project. Vulcan Northwest Inc. was founded by Paul Allen in 1986 to manage his personal and professional endeavors.
Seattle-based Columbia Resource Group (CRG), an event and meeting planning firm, has hired Joe Hunt as manager of CRG's Destination Services Division and Jennifer Bowman as program assistant. Hunt will be responsible for planning and implementing activities such as regional and local tours, theme parties, receptions, spouse programs and other special events. Bowman will be handling logistics in planning events such as registration, venue location, hotel accomocations, and banquets.
Joel Bailey, Jr. and Fred Morley have joined Tacoma's Mountain View Funeral Home as funeral directors. Bailey recently moved to Tacoma from Portland where he worked as a funeral director. Morley previously worked with Piper-Morley-Mellinger Funeral Home in Tacoma.
For the second consecutive year, the Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers has been awarded Meetings & Conventions magazine's Gold Key Award. The award recognizes hotels and resorts that provide outstanding service to the meetings industry.
Michael Hoover has become of counsel to the Bellevue law firm of Vance & Romero, P.S. He will continue his business litigation practice with an emphasis on alternative dispute resolution and negotiated settlement in the areas of construction, commercial, real estate, and intellectual property.
Oceantrawl, Inc. and American Seafoods Company (ASC), two commercial fishing and seafood companies, have entered into an agreement whereby ASC will assume management of two Oceantrawl vessels, the Northern Eagle and the Northern Hawk. The parties have agreed that management of the third Oceantrawl vessel, the Northern Jaeger, will also be assumed by ACS as soon as the necessary approvals of that vessel are received. Under the terms of the agreement, Oceantrawl will retain ownership of the vessels and will bare boat charter them to ACS. The vessels will continue to supply product to Oceantrawl's new venture, The Fishin' Place, a retail store soon to open in Redmond, and a flagship store and processing facility opening next spring at the Bell Street Pier.
Seattle-based Vinson Brothers Corp. recently won a National Minority Supplier Development Council Supplier of the Year award. The firm also was honored with a regional supplier award. For the regional award, the council selects 12 minority businesses each year out of 15,000 minority firms across the country which are eligible to be nominated. Three of the 12 regional winners are awarded the national honor. Winners have distinguished themselves and their businesses by successfully demonstrating sales and employment growth while overcoming significant obstacles.
