The Seattle firm of Imagio Technology Advertising and Public Relations has hired six new members to its PR staff. Kristiana Ellis, Anita Williams and Howard Barokas have all joined as senior account executives. Debbie Carey and Kimberly Saur have joined as assistant account executives, and Eva Doak joins as a marketing assistant.
Richard Sternberg has been named as acting director on the University of Washington's School of Oceanography. Sternberg is a marine geologist who studies how the world's rivers and oceans transport sediments. The School of Oceanography is the only U.S. institution to offer both graduate and undergraduate degrees in oceanography.
The Seattle Men's Chorus (SMC) will hold its 9th annual Christmas Eve Concert at midnight on December 24th at the Egyptian Theater in Seattle at Broadway and Pine. The concert will feature performances by SMC, the Seattle Lesbian & Gay Chorus, Pro Homo Voce, the Seattle Women's Ensemble and The Girlfriends. The concert is free to the public, with all donations benefiting the Pride Foundation. The Pride Foundation is a Seattle-based community foundation dedicated to strengthening the lesbian and gay community.
The Seattle Coast Guard Officers' Spouses' Club is working to sew and fill stockings for children at Seattle homeless shelters. Club members are working to sew the stockings and volunteers are working at finding donations with to fill them. KPFF Consulting engineers has named three new associates with the Portland office. They are each now authorized to act as principal-in-charge of KPFF projects. David J. Humber, a civil engineer, has been with the firm since 1991. His current projects include a waterfront park utilities project; Riverfront Park Development in Salem, the East Portland Community Center and Fox Block Office Tower. Nathan T. Charlton joined KPFF following his graduation from Portland State University. Over the past six years, he has worked on numerous micro fabrication facilities, long-span steel structures and fast track projects. Blake D. Patsy, who joined KPFF in 1989, has served as structural engineer on design teams for Century High School, Jantzen Beach Mall Renovation, Legacy Health Systems and the Pearl Court apartment complex.
Linda Stroud has been appointed marketing manager at David Evans & Associates (DEA). Formerly of Callison Architecture, she has more than 15 years of experience in marketing for A/E firms in the Puget Sound area. David Benson has joined DEA as a civil site manager. He has more than 25 years of experience with private consulting firms, government agencies and universities, and was most recently with Sverdrup. His primary focus at DEA will be municipal engineering. Ronald Bockelman has joined the firm as a senior ecologist. Most recently with EA Science and Engineering, has 20 years of experience managing natural resources, conducting environmental assessments and evaluating impacts of proposed actions and existing facilities. On of his present clients is the U.S. Forest Service. Ronald Topazio has joined DEA as environmental engineering manager. His 28 years of experience include water supply, wastewater, solid and hazardous waste management, and air quality projects. He was most recently with R.W. Beck. He will be the client manager for municipal water systems in Washington and Oregon.
Ten engineers and three drafters have joined Andersen Bjornstad Kane Jacobs, Inc. (ABKJ). Daniel W. Symonds, structural engineer, is currently working on two prison facilities for the Oregon Department of Corrections and Buendia Square in the Philippines. Douglas D. Huang brings 20 years of structural design experience to the firm and is currently working on the design of the North Triangle Building in Manila, Philippines. Adam Ludwig is currently working on seismic evaluation projects for the Corvallis School District and seismic upgrades for the Portland Public Schools. Scott W. Jacky has joined ABKJ's bridge division and is currently working on the Whittier Access Road project in Alaska and the Smith Parker Bridge for King County. Christopher J. Faul, Peter J. Krebs, Xenia Rofes and Robert R. Cruz have joined ABKJ's structural division of buildings and bridges. All are currently working on international projects.. Miguel (Jun) Audar has joined ABKJ as a CAD drafter. David A. Perry and William S. Burns have also joined ABKJ's drafting department.
Marty A. Lyon of Marty A. Lyon, Landscape Architects in Tacoma has been elected 1996-1997 president of the Washington Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (WASLA).
Alan Yee has joined Architects Kubota/Kato, Inc. as an apprentice architect and will assist the firm in CAD production. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, he will join the design teams for Kimball Elementary School Addition, Steilacoom's Police and Fire Station renovation, and the Seattle Keiro Nursing Home and Intergenerational Childcare Addition.
Carrie Adams has joined the staff of Hansen Design Company. A computer production specialist, she is a graduate of Cornish College of the Arts and also studied at Barnstone Studios in Coplay, Pa.
Carmen Cook has joined the Seattle firm of Betts Patterson & Mines as an associate. She will focus her practice in the areas of bankruptcy and real estate law. Cook previously was with the Bellevue office of Williams, Kastner & Gibbs.
Tom Knowles has been appointed restaurant manager of Andaluca, located in Seattle's Mayflower Hotel. Knowles was formerly with Cucina! Italian cafes. Andaluca features Mediterranean food with Pacific Northwest ingredients. Don Curtis is chef of the restaurant.

Portland-based U.S. Bank has named Mark Dean senior vice president in its Seattle Public Finance Department. Dean has served as manager since 1992, overseeing the department which provides investment banking services to municipalities and businesses in Washington, and specializes in tax-exempt, private activity bond financing.
The Salvation Army will serve Christmas dinner for 500 of Seattle's hungry and homeless people. Your help is needed to put food on the table. Turkeys, homemade pies, dinner rolls, breads and cookies are needed at the William Booth Center. The Salvation Army also needs fresh oranges and apples, frozen mixed vegetable, canned fruits and vegetables, butter and coffee. Daypacks, gloves, sleeping bags and winter coats will also be accepted and given out to the homeless. Donations may be delivered from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 23 and Tuesday, Dec. 24, to The Salvation Army William Booth Center, 811 Maynard Ave. S., Seattle. The Metropolitan King County Council has appointed former ombudsman Rella Foley as the interim Ombudsman/Director of the Office of Citizen Complaints. She will serve as the interim until the Council appoints a permanent ombudsman. Foley replaces Don Ecklund who will resume his full-time duties as county auditor.

The Bumgardner Architects has completed design for a renovation of and addition to Congregation Beth Shalom synagogue at 6800 35th Avenue NE. Areas of renovation and expansion include worship, social and educational spaces and sitework. A new Beit Midrash will be added to serve as library ad worship space, and extra classrooms as needed. The renovations and addition will help accommodate the increased attendance at Congregation Beth Shalom's educational programs and services. Formed in 1969, Congregation Beth Shalom is an egalitarian synagogue, affiliated with the Conservative movement, and led Rabbi Dov Gartenberg. It is made up of more than 370 families. In addition to the Bumgardner design team, which is lead by Donald Brubeck, consultants for the project include: Chalker, Putnam, Collins & Scott, structural engineer; Sider & Beyers Associates, Inc., mechanical engineer; Travis, Fitzmaurice and Associates, electrical engineering; J. Miller & Associates, lighting designer; Michael R. Yantis Associates, Inc., acoustical designer; Oakrock Landscape Architects, landscape architect; Rosewater Engineering, civil engineer; Robert Bernstein, traffic consultant; and Ackroyd Inc., cost estimator.
Broweleit Peterson Architects were recently selected as architects for the new worship center for St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Lakewoood. The project includes a 600-seat worship space and a budget of $1 million. The firm is also designing addition for Creator Lutheran in Sumner, a new sanctuary for St. Marks Lutheran in Tacoma ad interior renovations for University Presbyterian in Seattle. Kelogg Middle School in Shoreline and Grace Community Church in Auburn are also on the boards.
New projects for Hansen Design Company (HDC) include identity development and marketing materials for CNA Companies and Polaris Venture Partners and a newsletter for The Rainier Club. HDC has assisted Teledesic Corporation with multilingual collateral materials for presentation at the United Nations's recent World Telecommunications Policy Forum in Geneva. Special 3-D graphics were created to illustrate the vision of extending telecommunications infrastructure into developing countries.
Creator Lutheran Church has announced the completion of its new multi-phase facility at 13250 S.E. Sunnyside Road, Clackamas, Oregon. The project, designed by FWL Architects of Portland, includes a sanctuary for 200 with a cruciform ceiling.
