The Seattle law firm of Lasher Holzapfel Sperry & Ebberson, P.L.L.C. has made four additions to its office. Robert Henry joins the firm as of counsel. His practice focuses on commercial litigation in state and federal courts, including employment, real estate, and officer/director liability cases. Sonya Baker has been hired as firm administrator. Her responsibilities include long range planning, human resources, facilities management, and overseeing the efficient administration of the firm's business. Martina Van Wagenen has joined as a litigation paralegal to support the growth within the firm's burgeoning creditors' rights and bankruptcy department. Her primary focus will be on lien, bond claim, foreclosure and collection actions. Patrick Byers has been hired as the firm's director of client services. In addition to client development and public relations responsibilities, he will develop and implement legal education programs, client workshops, roundtables and seminars on legal issues that impact client's businesses.
Dan Youmans has been named media relations manager for AT & T Wireless Services of Washington. He will be responsible for all AT & T Wireless Services media relations programs for the Washington district.
American Insulated Wire Corp., a national manufacturer and supplier of electrical and electronic wire, cable and cord products, has hired Larry Beach as regional sales manager. He will be responsible for overseeing agents in the northwest and north central states including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Wyoming, Colorado and Alaska. American Insulate Wire Corp., a Leviton Company, is headquartered in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
Val Kiefer, president of Coyote Engineering Inc., an export management company located in Dayton, Washington, has received the 1996 "Chairman's Award of Appreciation" given by JETRO, the Japan External Trade Organization. The annual award is given to companies that are successful at promoting exports to Japan. Kiefer is the only U.S. citizen to win the award this year, and is the first Washington State resident to receive the honor. Coyote Engineering began as an engineering/machine shop then developed into a product exporting company after Kiefer provided technical assistance to a trading company in Japan on a product developed by Coyote. Kiefer realized there was a market for is specialty, outdoor equipment and began trading. The company now exports to 25 countries, representing some of America's and the Northwest's leading outdoor equipment manufacturers. Kiefer himself is generally acknowledged for introducing the sport of sea kayaking to the Japanese outdoor market.
Corporate Health Systems, Inc.(CHS), a Nashville, Tennessee based provider of workers' compensation and occupational health management services, has opened as office in Olympia. CHS will offer Puget Sound-area employers industrial medicine and workers' compensation services to help them secure the highest quality health care for their employees while more effectively managing their medical and workers' compensation costs. The Northwest division will be directed by vice president Brad Payne. Payne, a certified Functional Capacity Evaluator, specializes in evaluation and treatment of acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, functional assessments, work conditioning and work risk analysis.
For the second year in a row, Seattle's Daniel Smith Artist's Materials received a Gold Award for catalog excellence in the 1996 Catalog Age competition, in the category of Graphics & Art Supplies. Daniel Smith sells fine art supplies throughout the world and serves local customers at its Seattle retail store.
Bellevue pediatrician, Dr. Kathryn Mikesell, has received a national award for her outstanding contribution to help prevent child abuse and neglect. Mikesell was presented the award at the 11th National Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect, which is sponsored by the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect. The HHS Administrations on Children Youth and Families present the "Commissioner's Award" to an individual from each state and territory, who made a significant contribution to the prevention of child abuse and neglect, inspired others to join this significant endeavor and embodies the spirit of working selflessly to prevent child maltreatment. Mikesell practices at Medalia Healthcare and is the president-elect of the Medical Staff of Children's Hospital and Medical Center.
The board of directors of Paccar Inc. has elected Mark Pigott chairman and chief executive of Paccar Inc. effective January 1. Pigott joined the company in 1978 and most recently served as vice chairman with responsibility for Kenworth Truck Company, Peterbilt Motors, Foden Trucks, the Paccar Technical Center and Paccar International.
