Gary Watters has joined the staff of Peratrovich, Nottingham & Drage, Inc. (PN&D). He is working in the Seattle office as leader of general civil design and environmental permitting for the Port of Edmonds South Marina Improvement project. Watters has developed professional specialties water quality studies, storm water conveyance and treatment systems, pipe outfall dispersion zones, and hydraulic computer modeling.
BOORA Architects of Portland has added four new staff members. Stephen Gerber is a design assistant, and is currently a part of a team designing facility upgrades and improvements to more than 15 schools in the Portland School District. Gerber is a graduate of Oklahoma State University. James Harold is working on a new high school for North Clackamas School District and a feasibility study for a combination elementary school and a student housing facility on the Portland School District. Harold worked for 15 years in the construction industry before earning a degree in architecture from Montana State University. Kevin Nyhoff has joined BOORA's Nike Town Las Vegas after working for three years with Graham Edmonds Architects in Calgary, Alberta. John Sanford has joined the firm as director of information services. Sanford, a graduate of the University of Memphis, is responsible for automation management in the 80-workstation office.
Patti Fujii has joined Graphic Associates of Bellevue. A graduate of Art Center College of Pasadena, Calif., she recently held a position with Adobe Systems Inc.
Westin Hotel & Resorts have opened the Westin Resort, Guam, located along Tumon Bay. The 21-story resort marks the nineteenth hotel for Westin Hotels & Resorts in the Asia-Pacific region. The company has also acquired the Great Cruz Bay Resort Hotel (formerly the Hyatt Regency St. John) located in St. John, in the U.S. Virgin Islands. In addition, Westin and Signature Resorts, Inc. agreed to acquire the adjacent Virgin Grand Villas condominium development. Westin intends to own and operate the hotel as The Westin Resort, St. John, and market and operate the Villas as timeshare resorts under the company's Westin Vacation Club brand. The Westin Vacation Club Resort at St. John will be the first vacation ownership resort to be operated and marketed by Westin and Signature. Westin and Signature announced their agreement to acquire, develop and market four- and five- star resorts in North America and the Carribbean earlier this year.
The Frank Russell Company, a Tacoma-based asset strategy consultant and investment management firm, has offered its employees an additional 5 percent of company ownership. The new stock ownership program will allocate the shares to company associates based upon a formula that reflects the employee's current compensation level and past service with the company. The employee's shares are estimated to be worth several million dollars, but the specific value will not be determined until an independent appraisal is completed.
Five new volunteer members have been selected to serve on the King County Arts Commission, the nation's oldest county arts commission. The new commissioners are: Kathy Magicra, administrative director, Seattle Opera; Melissa Hines, managing director, Empty Space Theatre; Craig Williams, dancer/choreographer; Al McEachern, board member, Puget Sound Musical Theatre, and Jacqueline Lee Mok, educator, University of Washington. Two current commissioner, Katherine Evans-Race of the SeaTac Art Commission and Grace Hiranaka of Kent were re-appointed to three year terms.
JayRay, an advertising/public relations agency with offices in Tacoma and Seattle, has promoted senior copywriter Alec Lawson to lead the agency's creative department. Lawson will be in charge of setting the best creative course for each client and maintaining overall creative standards.
Pamela Cairns has joined the law firm of Graham & James/Riddell Williams as an associate in the firm's tax group. Cairns practices tax law and is a certified public accountant, and will also represent clients in business, real estate and international trade matters.
Owen Blauman has been named as the new marketing coordinator for the Seattle-based electronic information company Chase Bobko. Blauman was previously the vice president of Pleasant Sports in Phoenix, Arizona. Chase Bobko specializes in working with people that need to convert, organize and access large volumes of information.
