the Seattle Home Show has announced that the management team has been joined by the fourth generation of the family that founded thw show in 1939. Tara Jean Kalian, daughter of current managing director Mike Kalian, will be assisting in marketing and sales management of the show. The show runs from February 14 through February 22 at the Kingdome and Pavilion.
The 405 Industrial Association, sponsored by the Woodinville Chamber of Commerce, has hired Jerry Coleman of PIP Inc., as its 1998 president. Coleman will head up the Association Management Team, focussing on company direction setting, planning, organizational change and development and human resource management. Transportation is the subject of the next general meeting, on January 20 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Seattle Times, Bothell Building.
Eric Brian Johnson has joined the Seattle law firm of Lane Powell Spears Lubersky as counsel to the firm. Johnson concentrates his practice in the areas of products liability, construction, professional liability, and insurance litigation.

Phil Bannon was sworn in recently as the Port of Everett's newest commissioner. Bannon has worked as the executive director for the Port of Everett, the executive director for the City of Everett, and developed the local brewpub "Scuttlebutt Brewery."

Washington Law & Politics, a new monthly magazine covering legal, governmental, and professional beats in Washington, has hired Mary Lou Cooper as its political gossip columnist. Cooper fornerly served as editor and writer for the Council of State Governments in Seattle and San Francisco.
The Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce has promoted Michael Wu to director of information technology. Wu will be responsible for computing and telecommunications systems that serve the Chamber and its 2,700 business members. He will supervise a staff of four technical professionals with disciplines in database administration, internet and web technologies, and advanced and enterprise technology.
The Northwest Venture Group, a network comprised of entrepeneurs, investors and service providers, is sponsoring a Venture Breakfast on Jan. 16, from 6:30 to 9 a.m., entitled "How to Build and Sustain Value in Your Company." The speaker will be Lorraine Ruff, president of Milestones, a critical thinking company. The breakfast will be located at the Bellevue Conference Center, 121 107th Ave. N.E. in downtown Bellevue. Rodney C. Tullett and Chun M. Ng have become members of Christensen O'Connor Johnson & Kindness, a Seattle-based intellectual property law firm practicing in all areas of technology and business. Tullett joined as an associate in 1990, and will continue his practice of intellectual property law, focusing on high-tech system/software and electrical devices. Ng joined as an associate in 1991, and will continue his practice in intellectual property law, focusing on semiconductor and telecommunications technologies.
US Bank announced that its Spokane Student Loan Center will remain open to serve university and college financial aid programs throughout the area. The center, which had been scheduled to close in the first quarter of 1998 as part of a previously-announced merger combining US Bancorp and First Bank System, has instead been targeted for enhancement.
The Washington Society of CPAs Continuing Professioanl Education Committee has chosen Mark Hugh, CPA, MST, and principal in the tax department at Clark Nuber, to receive the 1997-1998 Discussion Leader of the Year Award. The award is given to the discussion leader who provides the highest quality of professional education to the members of the Washington Society of CPAs.
