Name change for Geraghty & Miller

DENVER, Colo. -- The parent firm of Geraghty & Miller Inc., Heidemij NV of the Netherlands, has changed its name to Arcadis. Geraghty & Miller officially adopted the new name Arcadis Geraghty & Miller on Jan. 1. At the same time, Geraghty & Miller completed integration of its operating companies, which include Piedmont Olsen Hensley, Acurex Environmental and Alternative Remedial Technologies. By renaming the global company, Arcadis is highlighting the firm's international scope. Arcadis has 6,500 employees around the world and a gross revenue level of about $600 million. Arcadis says its clients have increasingly called for cross-border services and assistance with larger-scale projects. This has triggered an exchange of technology and client contacts within the global firm and has created the need for integrated engineering services. The name "Arcadis" comes from Arcadia, known in ancient Greek mythology as one of the best places to live on earth. Arcadis' new logosymbol -- a salamander -- is designed to represent the amphibian that lives on land and in water, where Arcadis does its environmental consulting and engineering work. Arcadis says it plans to increase its geographical spread with a special focus on the United States, Southeast Asia and Latin America over the next two to three years. Arcadis is a public company traded on the Amsterdam Exchange and through NASDAQ.
