Barbara J. Duffy has been elected partner at the law firm of Lane Powell Spears Lubersky in the Seattle office. Duffy concentrates her practice in the areas of complex commercial litigation and health care litigation.
Sophia Chrusciel has joined Foster Pepper & Shefelman as of counsel practicing ERISA and employment law in the firm's Seattle office. Chrusciel was formerly a partner at McDermott, Will & Emery, a Chicago law firm. Brian Danzig has joined the Seattle office as of counsel practicing real estate law. Danzig was formerly a member at Steefel Levitt & Weiss, a San Francisco law firm.
Robert R. Jammerman has been named general manager at the Ramada Inn Downtown in Seattle, operated by Seattle-based Northwest Lodging, Inc. Jammerman formerly worked for Ellensburg's Comfort Inn. The Ramada Inn Downtown is located at 2200 Fifth Avenue in Seattle. Northwest Lodging primarily operates Ramada and Howard Johnson nationally franchised hotels and motels. Michelle Fuller has been named regional sales manager for Washington at Northwest Lodging, Inc. Fuller formerly served as director of sales for the Ramada Inn Downtown in Seattle.
The Puget Sound chapter of the Public Relations Society of America has established a community service award in honor of Hugh A. Smith, a longtime regional member and activist, who died in June 1997. Smith was co-founder and chairman of Kraft Smith, a public relations and advertising agency. The award will be presented annually to a public relations professional who makes extraordinary community service contributions.

Jill Sterrett has been promoted to vice president of EDAW, Inc. She has been managing principal of the Seattle office since 1995 and is currently leading several major projects, including the Lakewood Comprehensive Plan for the City of Lakewood, cultural resource studies for hydroelectric projects, Sand Point design guidelines and an interpretive and historic preservation review for the City of Seattle. Charles (Chuck) Everett has been promoted to senior associate at EDAW. He specializes in providing recreation, land use and esthetics studies for relicensing hydroelectric facilities and also provides environmental services for Department of Defense facilities around Puget Sound. Peter Carr has been promoted to associate at EDAW. He is a technical writer and public involvement specialist in the environmental field, and is currently editing project relicensing studies for several hydroelectric projects.
Ernie Moffet has been promoted to the position of vice president at Harris Group, Inc., where he will continue to hold his position as industry manager for the Seattle office. Moffett has been with the firm for nine years. Glenn Swaim has joined the Seattle office, where he will be responsible for facility engineering projects and client development. Swaim has 30 years of engineering experience in the pharmaceutical, food and beverage, consumer manufacturing and general manufacturing fields.
Valerie K. Williams has been promoted to marketing principal at Sparling. She joined the firm in 1995 with 15 years of experience in marketing and business development for design firms in Seattle and Minnesota. In 1997, she received the Marketing Communications Achievement Award from the Society for Marketing Professional Services. Hollis L. George has been promoted to associate in Sparling's technology studio. She specializes in the design of research and laboratory facilities, and is currently managing electrical design for the University of Washington Fisheries Building, Corixa Phase Two, the Smith Tower Renovation and ATS Broadcast Tower on Tiger Mountain.
Denise B. Fong has been promoted to principal of Candela, Sparling's architectural lighting design group. She is currently overseeing Candela's work at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center, the Seattle Waterfront Marriott, Nextlink, and new Nike Store in Toronto.
Brian W. Rapalee has joined the office of W&H Pacific, Bellevue, as a project manager in the transportation department. He has previously been with Black & Veatch/TRA and with Reid Middleton, Inc. and recently worked on an airside design project at Bangkok Airport for Louis Berger International, Inc.
Norman J. Brown has joined CDi Mechanical Engineers of Lynnwood as senior project manager. He is currently working on systems planning and design for the University of Washington/Cascadia College Colocated campus in Bothell and the Seafirst Performing Arts Center in Wenatchee. Brown was previously an employee with Bouillon, Inc.
Adina Prisecaru has joined AKB Engineers of Bellevue as a senior structural engineer. She has specialized in structural analysis and design involving steel, concrete, masonry and wood. She is currently at work on the Coho Cafe in Redmond and te Seattle Aquarium Sound to Mountain exhibit. Lorene A. Hansen has joined the staff of drafting technicians at AKB. Using AutoCAD 14, Hansen is currently working on the Washington State Liquor Control Board distribution center, the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton and Crown Books Retail in Redmond.
William Bailey has been promoted to technical director at SERA in Portland. He joined the firm in 1989 and became an associate four years ago. He is currently managing the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral renovations. Lisa Sloop is now project assistant at SERA, having spent a year as an intern with the firm. She is on the designing team for the master plan of the Fred Meyer Corporate Headquarters. Nick Hodges has joined the SERA team on the Portland Public School renovations. He comes to the firm from West Virginia. Ariana White has joined the firm's marketing department as marketing coordinator. She is a graduate of Linfield College and previously worked for the Portland Rose Festival Association.
Pedro DeGuzman has joined Bush Roed & Hitchings as a design engineer. A graduate of the University of Washington, he has three years of civil engineering experience for commercial and industrial facilities. DeGuzman is now at work on a Safeway store in Duvall, the Sierra Suites Hotel in Bothell, and the North Meridian Center in Milton.
Jill Elliott has been named marketing manager of the Portland office of Waterleaf Architecture and Interiors.
Eric Guion has been promoted to senior associate of Group West Associates, Inc., in Lynnwood. Raymond M. Hart has joined the firm as manager of the development strategies division.
Christopher J. Webb has joined Ayers Professional Group, Inc. of Bellingham as a project engineer. His professional background includes structural design, waste treatment system design and civil engineering. Mark S. Buehrer has joined Ayers as a senior civil engineer.
Priscilla Lisicich was appointed to serve as chair of the Governor's Council on Substance Abuse. Lisicich is the executive director of Safe Streets, the Tacoma-Pierce County citizen action campaign to combat violence, drug abuse and gangs.
The Puget Sound Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America has named Erik V. Peterson, principal in Reis Endicott Peterson Inc., the public relations professional of the year. Peterson is president of the state chapter of the American Lung Association. Paige Ziegele has been awarded the new member of the year award. Ziegele is account manager for MorseMcFadden Communications.
Williams, Kastner & Gibbs, a Northwest law firm, has hired Teena M. Killian as of counsel in the Seattle office. Killian concentrates her practice on employment litigation. Killian was formerly a partner at Lane Powell Spears Lubersky.
The Seattle Chinese Garden Society has hired Christine Stollery to manage a $6 million capital campaign to build a classical Chinese garden in Seattle. The Seattle Chinese Garden will be the first of its kind in the United States and the third in North America. The garden will be built on a six-acre site on South Seattle Community College in West Seattle.
Siemens Medical Systems Inc. has expanded its worldwide marketing team and appointed Marcus Kirchgeorg, M.D., as vice president of marketing and sales worldwide. Kirchgeorg was formerly director of marketing for Siemens Medical Engineering's Computer Tomography Group in Germany.
Daniel's Broiler in Leschi has hired Douglas Metzger as executive chef. Metzger will maintain all culinary operations of the restaurant, menu development and staff supervision. He was formerly executive chef at the Doubletree Hotel in Los Angeles.
Darrell E. Bryan, vice president and general manager of Clipper Navigation Inc., Seattle, and president of Victoria Ferry Ltd., has been named secretary-treasurer of the Passenger Vessel Association, headquartered in Arlington, Va. Clipper Navigation operates four high-speed catamarans and one monohull.
