Lawrence J. Steele has been elected partner at the law firm Lane Powell Spears Lubersky in the Seattle office. Steele focuses his practice on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, securities and general corporate law.
The Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce has promoted Rachel Wong to membership development manager and hired Linda Jewett as a membership development representative. Wong will be responsible for the direction and coordination of committee management, customer service, dues collection and other activities to enhance the retention and recruitment of members. Wong previously worked as a program coordinator. Jewett will be responsible for membership sales and retention and customer service. Jewett previously worked as a sales and marketing manager for Spill Management and Response Training Institute. The Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization that serves as a resource for business, a public affairs advocate and a community partner.
Cascade Designs Inc. of Seattle, makers of Therm-a-Rest self-inflating camping mattresses and other outdoor recreation gear, has hired Rich Anton as director of marketing. Anton was previously a marketing manager for Eddie Bauer.
Pacifica Bank (In Organization) has applied with the FDIC and Washington state bank regulators for a state bank charter. When final approval is received, Pacifica Bank will establish its headquarters in Bellevue to serve small- and medium-sized businesses in the Puget Sound area. Pacifica Bank will open in the Skyline Tower Lobby at 10900 N.E. 4th Street in downtown Bellevue. An Offering Circular will be available to interested investors. Pacifica is planning to raise between $12 and $15 million in capital, making it among the highest capitalized new bank offerings in the state. Booth Creek Ski Holdings, Inc., promoted Laura B. Moriarty to corporate vice president of human resources. Moriarty will be responsible for the administration and strategic direction of Booth Creek's human resources function, including employee development, executive staffing, training, compensation, benefits, and internal communications for all of Booth Creek's resorts. Booth Creek Ski Holdings is comprised of eight resorts in California, New Hampshire, Wyoming, and the four Summit at Snoqualmie areas in Washington.
Metawave Communications Corporation, a Redmond-based provider of spectrum management systems for the wireless industry, has named Scot B. Jarvis to its board of directors. Jarvis is most prominently known for his work in acquisitions and development at McCaw Cellular Communications. Jarvis also serves on the board of directors for Nextlink Communications, Inc., PulsePoint Communications, Inc., Wireless Facilities, Inc., and Xypoint Corporation.

Joshua Reyneveld has joined Bassetti Architects as principal, with over 20 years experience in the design of commercial, corporate and public projects. He previously served as managing principal of Lionakis Beaumont Design Group, a 70-person design firm in Sacramento.
Charles "Bud" Juergens has been promoted to senior associate with Robert Fossatti Associates. His responsibilities include general office management for the structural engineering firm as well as project management and project scheduling. He is currently managing work on the Bothell Clinic, the Navy Child Development Center in Bremerton and the Cascade Assisted Living Center in Madras, Ore. Jim Johnston has been promoted to associate and is leading structural design work on the African American Academy and the Enatai Elementary School renovation. He is also managing construction administration at the Mt. Zion Senior Residence. Pete Pawlak has been promoted to associate. He is working on assisted living projects in Washington, Oregon and California and various renovation projects at Children's Hospital and Overlake Medical Center. Marshal Pihl has been promoted to associate and is presently managing structural design for Cherrydale Elementary School in Steilacoom, Madison Point Condominiums and various Magnolia Hi-Fi Stores. Blythe Meigs has been promoted to project manager. Current projects include the Redmond Regional Library and The Towers, an assisted living facility in Mesa, Ariz.
Jay Deguchi has been named an associate at George Suyama Architects (GSA). He joined the staff in 1992 and has worked on new and renovated residential and custom commercial projects, including the award-winning GSA office in downtown Seattle.
Mark E. Shaffer has been promoted to principal geological engineer at Associated Earth Sciences, Inc. (AESI) in Kirkland. He manages the firm's Bainbridge Island office, and specializes in water resource and waste management projects. Recent projects include water rights negotiations and resource development projects in Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California and Arizona. Erick W. Miller has been promoted to associate hydrogeologist. Recent projects include project management of landfill gas mitigation and groundwater monitoring at the Houghton Landfill in Kirkland, hydrogeological studies at the Duvall and Cedar Falls landfills in King County and groundwater development for the City of Tumwater. Joe Clare has been promoted from and engineer-in-training to a senior staff geotechnical engineer. Recent projects include shoring installation for the Courtyard Off Main Street in Downtown Bellevue and landslide mitigation at the Edgewood Villa Apartments in Bremerton. Steven Grupp, project geophysicist at AESI, recently became president-elect of the Northwest Geological Society. Carl Hadley has joined the AESI staff as a senior fisheries biologist, with 10 years of experience designing and permitting projects associated with sensitive fisheries resources. Jay Logan has joined the firm as a geotechnical engineer with experience in geotechnical studies for subdivisions, apartments and commercial buildings. Robert A. Smith has joined AESI as an environmental information manager. His recent project experience includes data management for the Sea-Tac groundwater study for the Port of Seattle and work on several Superfund sites throughout the country. Bobbie Burkholder has joined the Bainbridge Island office to provide CAD and computer services, including computer systems management and marketing graphics. Her recent project experience includes several large engineering projects.
Paul Cho has joined the Bellevue office of W&H Pacific as transportation designer, and will work on traffic and illumination systems. He was previously a transportation engineer for the City of Redmond and the Washington State Department of Transportation. Paul Harmsen has joined the firm as development services designer. He will work on site development design related to water systems.
Paul Wong has joined the staff of ALSC Architects in Spokane, with 15 years of experience in architecture and interior design. He is currently involved in master planning for the City of Spokane's Operations Complex.
Dennis Evans has joined Integrus Architecture as a project architect with 10 years of experience in a variety of project types. He is now at work on a special needs unit for the Washington Corrections Center for Women. Depak Gupta has joined the firm as an architectural intern with a master's degree from Kansas State University, and is also at work on the women's facility. Chris Taucher is also a new intern at Integrus, and has an undergraduate degree from Montana State University. He is working on the Tacoma pre-release prison facility for the State of Washington.

Lewis Health Center, the Olympus Hotel and the Ballarmine Religious Building. Andrew Pflueger, a recent graduate of California Polytechnic University, has joined the firm as a structural design engineer. He is currently at work on Fife Landing warehouses for Opus Northwest. Daniel G. Shaw has been promoted to senior project engineering in the civil department, where he is overseeing design of several schools. David Johnson is now business development facilitator for AHBL, and Sharon Alvord has been promoted to human resources specialist. Jeff Sherman has been promoted to structural CAD drafter.
