New associatesCarol Anne Kennedy, Sheryl Dorney, Kathe Dooley and Haidee Bristol-Horne have joined EMB Partners, a Seattle-based advertising and public relations firm.
Wells Fargo has promoted Wendell Coombs, Jr. to vice president in its Institutional Trust Group. Coombs will oversee the administration of employee benefit trust officers in Seattle, and the management of employee benefit plans for institutional accounts in the Northwest. Bruce Mandelhas been appointed vice president and division manager of the Northwest Premier Banking Division, based in Vancouver.
James E. Thompson has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Cymbolic Sciences, a manufacturer of digital imaging systems. Dr. Daniel Whittle has been promoted to vice president, product development and manufacturing. Dr. Horst Schaaf has been named vice president, advanced technology. Rob Tarnowski has been promoted to vice president, human resources. Cymbolic Sciences is a Delaware corporation with operations in Blaine, Canada, Singapore and the Netherlands.
Mary L. Pauly has been named manager of the human resources department for the Washington State Convention and Trade Center. Liane Orlob has been added as human resources assistant.
Sasaki Design, a Seattle-based graphic design firm, is a silver winner in the 1997 Summit Creative Awards competition for its outstanding creative work in designing a shopping bag for the Super Mall of the Great Northwest.
This week AAA Washington has awarded Sorrento Hotel in Seattle with its Four Diamond rating for the ninth executive year. Mobile Travel Services has also assigned the hotel a four star rating.
Thurston County Superior Court Judge Daniel J. Berschauer will take over as president of the Washington State Superior Court Judges' Association. The association, representing 163 judges, provides continuing judicial education, recommends changes to civil and criminal court rules, and promotes improvements in judicial administration.
Ricky Langford has joined Andersen Bjornstad Kane Jacobs, Inc. (ABKJ) as vice president in charge of program management. Some of the projects she has worked on include Harborview Hospital, the Rocky Butte Jail in Portland, Multnomah Courthouse in Portland, and Mahlon Sweet Airport in Eugene.
Herb Clough has been promoted to principal at Hart Crowser, Inc. He is a geotechnical and environmental engineer specializing in environmental remediation projects. He is the senior technical member of Hart Crowser's Oregon operations, and is currently overseeing a contract with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality to provide investigations and cleanup under its orphan site program. He also provides technical review for a three-year, $2.1 million environmental services contract for the Oregon Department of Transportation.
Hunter S. Fulghum has joined Sparling's Technology Studio as a senior telecommunications project manager. His experience in telecommunications includes cable television, fiber optics, telephone, LAN and WAN systems, security and instrumentation design. He is a regular contributor of technology and communications articles to the Seattle Times and also writes for ABC New On-Line and the Discovery Channel On-Line.
Dan Symonds has joined RSP/EQE as a senior structural engineer and project manager. He has previously been a senior project manager with ABKJ, technical director with KPFF and chief structural engineer with Anne Symonds & Associates and has worked on several downtown landmarks, including Harbor Steps residential towers, the Stouffer Madison Hotel, and 1000 Second Avenue. His current projects include Marriot on Lake Union, Centennial Court and City of Kent Water District.
Patrick Tilley has joined McGowan Broz Engineers as manager of the commercial design department. He specializes in advanced illumination, audio/video communication systems and low-voltage control systems.
Norm Petersen has joined Inca Engineers, Inc. of Bellevue as a program manager in the facilities management department. He will assume responsibility for building audits, cost estimating and control for construction and design projects. Petersen has developed computer systems for the monitoring and control of construction and bond funding for projects up to $350 million in scope. Debbie Wick has joined the firm as a project engineer for the transportation department. She spent four years as a civil engineer with the City of Bremerton and three years with C.B.I. Industries in the U.S. and in South Africa.
ECS Engineering has made four additions to the staff. Lee Mason is an electrical designer and is now working on projects for Boeing and for the cities of Marysville, Corvallis and Aberdeen. Leo Dixon is an electrical engineer with 23 years of heavy industry and commercial design experience. He has been working on water projects for the Cities of West Lynn, Duvall, and Chehalis. Ginnett Chin is an electrical engineer and is now working on the new Mattawa Waste Water Treatment Plant and modifications to the West Point Treatment Plant.
George D. Reynolds has joined the Lakewood office of Everett-based Perteet Engineering as office manager. He specializes in civil and transportation engineering and has worked with cities and with state and federal agencies on many projects in and around the I-5 corridor.
Charlie Wittenberg has joined Penhallegon Associates Consulting Engineers, Inc. (PACE) as director of business development and planning. He was previously director of community development for the City of Newcastle.
