Frank Russell Co.

Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. has selected Frank Russell Co. of Tacoma as the best large family business in the National Family Business of the Year awards. Frank Russell Co. is an investment services firm, specializing in advising pension fund managers.

CTED

A new web page with over 300 pages of information about Washington state's international programs and international trade has been developed by the International Trade Division of the Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development.

Technology Fast 50 awards

Deloitte & Touche is accepting nominations for the third annual Washington Technology Fast 50 Awards, a ranking of the fastest-growing technology companies in Washington. Nominations will be accepted through May 22. To obtain nomination forms, contact Sarah Kim at (206) 292-1800.

REI

Recreational Equipment Inc., REI, will open two new stores in 1998, including one in Redmond Town Center, and move two stores to larger locations. Each of the stores will showcase interactive design elements that were first introduced at the Seattle flagship store.

Seattle Public Library

Gilbert W. Andersona past president and chief financial officer of the Physio-Control Corp., has been named to the Seattle Public Library Board of Trustees.

Helly Hansen

Ken Schrang has been hired as the U.S. market vice president of sales for Helly Hansen. Helly Hansen, is headquartered in Norway, with U.S. corporate headquarters in Redmond.

Horton Lantz Marocco

Horton Lantz Marocco, a Seattle-based marketing and creative services agency, has hired Kim Christiansen as a new systems administrator, managing web site development and new technology issues. Renee Porter has joined as an account manager.

Da Vinci Gourmet Ltd.

Seattle-based Da Vinci Gourmet Ltd. has appointed Natalie Dean as an international sales representative. Dean's responsibilities will include generating sales, managing the distributor base, conducting international market research, developing country-specific sales strategies and generating interest in new markets.

Microserv, Inc.

Microserv, Inc., a Kirkland-based hardware support services company, has hired Susan Williams as human resources manager. John Bender was promoted to vice president of service delivery from director of service delivery. Yuki Yang was promoted to inside sales/marketing communications manager from marketing communications coordinator.

Odyssey

The Seattle-based Odyssey, The Maritime Discovery Center, has named Sally del Fierro development officer. Matt Fikse has been named general manager, marketing; Melissa Knapp has been named office administrator; Rick Mazzotta has been named manager for interpretation; and Rob Walgren has been named manager for product development and merchandising. Odyssey, opening in July, is a maritime center devoted to contemporary trade, shipping, fishing, and marine recreational activities.

CH2M Hill

Michael D. Kennedy has been elected to the board of directors of CH2M Hill Companies Ltd. He is senior vice president of the firm and Northwest regional manager.

Kato & Warren

Russell D. Bauder has joined Kato & Warren Inc. as a senior project manager. Formerly with TAMS Seattle, which merged with Kato & Warren in 1996, he has 18 years experience in highway and street project for several states, counties and cities. Dustin Atchison has joined the firm as a civil engineer. A 1997 graduate of the University of Washington, he was previously with Nelson-Couvrette & Associates.

R.W. Beck

Charles Smith has joined R.W. Beck as a civil engineer specializing in solid waste design. He has experience in developing experimental processes used in remediation of hazardous and biological waste processes.

GGLO

Jamie Snyder has joined GGLO as a project manager, heading a team for Trammell Crow residential projects in Issaquah. He was previously a project manager at YNA. Jean-Marc LeRoy joins GGLO as staff architect after spending two years at small firms in Seattle. He is now working on a mixed-use project in Seattle and a housing project in Marysville. Peter Lorimer has joined the firm as a project architect, and is working on Molbak's at University Village. He spent eight years with Arai/Jackson. Andrew Lam is now a staff architect at GGLO. Educated in Hong Kong and at the University of Washington, he is now working on the Molbak's project. Tom Maul has joined the firm as a project architect. His experience includes six years at Starbucks. He is currently working on design concepts for Seattle's Best Coffee. Don Mackay is GGLO's new quality assurance director. He was previously with Bassetti Architects and Hamilton Architects. Sarah Deines has joined the firm as a human resources coordinator. She came from the Emeritus Corp., where she was human resources representative for three years.

GeoEngineers

Bob Metcalfe has been hired as a project geotechnical engineer in the Redmond office of GeoEngineers. He has worked with private and municipal clients on roads and bridges, all building types, retaining structures, pipelines and landfills. He is currently at work on three dams for the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife.

RoseWater

Tom McBriar has been promoted to engineering manager at RoseWater Engineering, Inc. He specializes in the design and management of water and wastewater projects, and is now working as project manager for the Denny Way combined sewage overflow project. Steven L. Godes has been promoted to project manager. He has been with Rosewater for eight years and is currently managing work on the new instructional technology center at Everett Community College, a modernization and addition to Olympia High School and the IMAX Theatre at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle. Dave Rhoades has been hired as a project engineer. He is currently working on projects for the Kent School District, Seattle Center parking facilities and North Seattle Community College. Nancy Caron has returned to RoseWater as an engineering technician and drafter. Jane Trancho is RoseWater's project administrator.

Meng

Catherine Kim has joined Meng as manager of marketing and client services. She has worked in business development for engineering, design and high-tech firms. Patrick Mahoney has joined the firm as an intern architect. Elizabeth Whiteford has joined Meng as a project assistant and will work on value analysis projects as well as marketing and other projects. As new office manager, Julie Beck is responsible for administrative support and human resource duties. Kim Trimiew will provide general office and marketing support as a new administrative assistant.

CDG

Cindy Kang has been named tenant improvements manager at Connell Design Group (CDG) of Mountlake Terrace. She has been with the firm since 1991 as a designer and project manager for tenant improvements, and will continue to develop space plans and construction documents for commercial, industrial and public projects. Lu Schildmeyer has joined CDG as interior design manager and will expand services for commercial offices and lobbies, restaurants and hotels. For the past four years, he has been Seattle director of interior design for Bargreen/Ellingson. Mel A. Maertz, who joined the firm in 1994, has been named architectural design manager and will emphasize services for office buildings, shopping centers, and institutional facilities.

Sider & Byers

Goren Hattatoglu has joined Sider & Byers as a mechanical engineer. He has worked on wholesale and commissary stores, and on the design of 12 military facilities in Italy and a hospital in Turkey. He is currently working on an elementary school in Bellevue.
