Robert J. Berg has been promoted to senior vice president of Parsons Brinckerhoff Quade & Douglas, the U.S. infrastructure arm of Parsons Brinckerhoff. A 20-year veteran of the firm, Berg is the company's director of projects, including policies, procedures and operations. He is based in Seattle.
Robert M. Weaver has been promoted to principal at Hart Crowser. He applies his background in historical archaeology and architecture to complex site characterization issues and to finding the historic causes of contamination. He led historic research for the former DuPont dynamite works, now being redeveloped as Weyerhaeuser's Northwest Landing. He is also a recognized expert on the technology of historical coal gasification plants located in Seattle and Tacoma. He was co-principal archaeologist for the Metro transit tunnel project, and served for six years on the Seattle Landmarks Preservation Commission.
Jerry McDevitt has been promoted to the level of principal at Mithun Partners. In addition the firm has announced three new senior associates. They are Robert Deering, Elizabeth MacPherson, and Tammie Schacher. New associates at Mithun include Uwe Bergk, Kenneth Boyd, Nancy Carroll, Thomas Johanson, Cynthia Schmidt, Mark Smedley and Robert Trahan.
Ed Mah has joined EDAW as a landscape architect. He is project manager for the 40-acre Reebok One World Headquarters campus in Canton, Mass., and is also directing the construction document phase of the site improvements for the Sand Point Redevelopment Plan. Mah has over 20 years of experience ranging from urban design to wetland/stream mitigation design. Marc Diemer has recently transferred to EDAW's Seattle office from the Denver office. As a landscape architect and planner he is assisting on the Reebok One World Headquarters campus, Echo Glen Children's Center and the McCormick/ Calvinwood/Square Lake proposed state park in Kitsap County. Kyle Sasaki has joined the firm as a project landscape designer. A recent graduate of the University of Washington Department of Landscape Architecture, Sasaki has worked on numerous projects in the Northwest and Asia. He is currently working the East Capitol Campus Plaza, Pilgrim Creek Park and the Keyport Master Plan. Jim Keany has joined EDAW as a terrestrial ecologist emphasizing natural resource inventories and impact analysis. He is a project biologist on the Pelton Round Butte Hydroelectric Project Relicensing in Oregon and lead biologist for the McCormick/Calvinwood/Square Lake proposed state park in Kitsap County. Steve Bondi has joined the firm as a wildlife biologist. He is assisting with terrestrial resource studies on the Pelton Round Butte and Yale hydroelectric relicensing projects and the Columbia River Habitat Evaluation Procedure. Mary Heim has rejoined EDAW as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and information technology specialist. She recently prepared electronic integrated resource management plans for the Columbia Basin Scattered Tracts for the Bureau of Reclamation and the Westside Hydroelectric Projects for Portland General Electric. Donna Pedrera has joined the firm as financial manager. She was previously with EarthTech. Liza MacKinnon has rejoined EDAW as office manager. Kristen Karle is the new receptionist/office assistant, and will support all administrative functions.
Robert Louis Seay has joined Art Anderson Associates as vice president of business planning and development and as program manager in the facility division. An electrical engineer, and an employee of Chevron, Seay has managed capital projects around the world.
Bruce G. Alward has joined Bouillon, Inc. as principal electrical engineer. During the last 10 years, Alward has built and managed electrical engineering departments for firms in Orlando, Florida and Seattle. He has been responsible for the electrical design of numerous large power generation projects as well as numerous projects in the criminal justice, healthcare and industrial markets.
David E. Roberson has been appointed to serve as the national partner for SCS Engineers' Environmental Management Services. Roberson is a vice president and project director for the firm, which he joined in 1979 as an environmental scientist. Greg Helland has been promoted to division manager of the Environmental Services division in the Bellevue office. A professional geologist, Helland has been with the Bellevue office since 1989.
Notkin Engineering has added two CAD drafters to the staff. Jo Leah Parker, a graduate of ITT Technical Institute in Houston, previously worked for John Graham and Associates. She is now working on the Bremerton Naval Hospital addition, the Experience Music Project and the Overlake Hospital Medical Center projects. Justin Herrmann, a recent graduate of ITT in Bothell, is at work on Virginia Mason Medical Center's Benaroya Research Institute.
Hank Howard has joined Inca Engineers of Bellevue as senior project manager. He spent the last 14 years with the City of Bellevue, and was recently project manager for the Bellevue Downtown Access Study.
Scott Thomson and Rick Himmel have joined University Mechanical Contractors. Thomson is manager of design/build services and Himmel is engineering manager.
Barbara Shickich, an attorney with the Seattle law firm of Graham & James/Riddell Williams, was recently elected president of the Board of Directors for the Washington State Society of Healthcare Attorneys. Shickich has been practicing healthcare law for 18 years.
Metapath Software Corp., a Bellevue-based provider of integrated, real-time mediation, provisioning and subscriber information systems, has selected Kevin Niemi as its new vice president of engineering. Niemi will be responsible for strategic development and technology.
Robert J. Strayhan has been named vice president and general manager for Xerox of the Pacific Northwest. Strayhan will oversee all business activities in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, and Northern California.
Lloyd Herman, founding director of the national craft museum of the U.S., the Smithsonian Institution's Renwick Gallery, has joined the senior management team of the International Glass Museum as acting senior curator. Herman will develop policies and planning for exhibitions, public programs and the museum's permanent collection, paving the way for hiring a full time museum curator. The International Glass Museum, presently under final construction planning and design in Tacoma, is scheduled to open in 2001. The museum was designed by Canadian architect Arthur Erickson.
Northwest Hospital has added Susan B. Thomason, M.D., to the hospital staff at the Lake Forest Park Medical Clinic as a physician specializing in family practice.

Sunrise Assisted Living of Bellevue has appointed Ann Kusher to the post of Alzheimer's/Reminiscence Program Coordinator. The community is scheduled to open in summer, 1998.
Atlanta-based AFC Enterprises has signed a letter of intent to acquire the assets of Paradise Bakery & Cafe, a 49-unit fresh food bakery. This deal includes 15 company cafes, 34 franchised units and a commissary. In March, AFC purchased Seattle Coffee Company.
Parker LePla, a Seattle-based brand development and public relations firm, has added Cheryl Stumbo as director; Sarah Priestman as a writer; Sunshine Morrison as a consultant; and Nancy Robbers as office manager.
Weber + Thompson has been awarded architectural and interior design contracts for the flagship branch of Pacifica Bank, to be located in the lobby level of the Skyline Tower in downtown Bellevue. Pacifica Bank, which is now in organization, will serve small to medium-sized businesses, particularly in the Asian business community. It is comprised largely of a cadre of senior members of the Enterprise Bank, which was acquired by Washington Mutual three years ago.
