Salish Lodge & Spa

Salish Lodge & Spa has appointed William Belickis as executive chef. Belickis formerly worked at Fullers restaurant in the Sheraton Seattle Hotel and Towers. Carol Gallagher has been appointed general manager of the Lodge. Gallagher formerly served as executive assistant manager.

Regence BlueShield

Regence BlueShield, a non-profit health plan, has promoted Margaret J. Lane to vice president of strategic planning and public policy. Lane formerly served as manager of public policy and compliance. Lane will lead the company's long-range strategic planning and annual operational planning programs.

Hunt Marketing Group

Hunt Marketing Group, a Seattle-based independent direct-response advertising agency, has named Bruno Gralpois director of database and new-media strategies. Gralpois formerly worked at Seattle-based Visio Corp.

Hotel Edgewater

Hotel Edgewater has named Diane de Valck director of sales. de Valck formerly owned and operated DDV Travel Representation, a sales and marketing consulting firm in the Netherlands.

Lane Powell Spears Lubersky

Paul V. McCarthy has joined the law firm of Lane Powell Spears Lubersky in the Seattle office as counsel to the firm and will concentrate his practice in the areas of real estate, commercial transactions, trust and estate administration issues, and banking law and regulations.

Kaiser/Group Health

Dorothy Mann, senior fellow in the Institute for Public Policy and Management of the University of Washington's Graduate School of Public Affairs, has been named to the Kaiser/Group Health board of directors.

Bright Trading

Bright Trading, Inc. is opening a new location in Seattle, the 17th location for the nationwide stock trading firm. Robert Bright, president, and Edward Franco, managing partner, will be participating in an "Investor Awareness" seminar on June 27 and 28 in Seattle. Admission is $300. Notkin

Sandy Bonderman and Larry Swartz have been advanced to ownership positions in Notkin Engineering, Inc. Bonderman has managed many of the company's recent high-profile projects in the arts, research and higher education markets. She currently manages mechanical engineering work on the Experience Music Project, the International Glass Museum in Tacoma and the Virginia Mason Medical Center's Benaroya Research Institute. Swartz has led some of the firm's most successful military and federal projects. He currently leads the mechanical teams for an open-ended contract with the Navy and the General Services Administration and the addition and renovations to the Bremerton Naval Hospital.

Northwest Architectutural Co.

The Seattle office of Northwest Architectural Co. has recently promoted three staff members to associates. Kevin P. Flanagan, who joined the firm in 1989, has been involved in several educational projects and recently managed design for Tyee Middle School and Sunset Elementary School in the Bellevue School District. Marc J. Oplinger ha also managed several school projects, most recently the Lake Stevens School District Educational Service Center and the new Lake Stevens Elementary Number Six. He joined the firm seven years ago. Steven M. Shiver, who joined the firm in 1990, has worked on educational buildings, justice facilities and special project types. Recent projects include the new Intermediate School for Woodland School District, a major elementary remodel for the Auburn School District, and the recently completed Ahtanum View Correctional Complex in Yakima, a geriatric facility for the Department of Corrections.

W&H Pacific

Mark Van Wormer, a project engineer in the Bellevue office of W&H Pacific, has recently been named an associate. He has been with the firm for seven years, working on design for highway and bridge construction, subdivision, commercial site development and airport improvement projects. Norma Samis, controller for the Bellevue office, has also recently been named an associate. Currently, she is managing the conversion of the accounting information management system from Alpine to Harper & Shuman. Bill Nims has joined the Bellevue office as municipal grant manager. He has worked for the City of Issaquah for the last 13 years in grant funding development of public works transportation projects, and has prepared grant applications for other municipalities. Kenneth K. Watanabe has joined the Bellevue office as a project manager for development services, including residential and commercial development. He has more than 30 years of experience in these markets and in military, educational, city halls, police facilities and urban renewal projects. John R. Jorgensen has joined W&H Pacific's Bellevue office as a planner. He previously worked for the road division of King County as an engineering technician and for JGM as a CAD manager. Michal A. Wert has been named an associate in the Portland office of W&H Pacific. She is a transportation planner. Prior to joining the firm, Wert was the transportation development branch manager for the Oregon Department of Transportation. Karen L. Siegel, who joined the Portland office three years ago as a project administrator for the planning services group, has also been named an associate. Before joining the firm, Siegel spent 12 years as the assistant to the director of Kent's public works department. Kristina M. Rogers has joined the Bellevue office as an administrative assistant.

Triad

James M. Swann has joined Triad Associates as project surveyor. He is currently at work on several development projects, including cellular communication sites. David A. Robertson has also joined the firm as a project surveyor. He was formerly general manger of Weiner-JCL Associates in Leavenworth. George Buell has joined Triad as a senior planner. He is currently working on planning documents for the East Village development in Issaquah.
