The Pacific Building Group of Kiewit Construction has hired Christine Skemp as marketing coordinator/business development. Skemp will be responsible for database management, implementing marketing strategies, business development coordination, newsletter production, maintaining marketing materials, advertising and preparing proposals. She has over 15 years of marketing, advertising and public relations experience.
Spokane-based Baker Construction announced Don Schelling, a business development specialist, has joined the firm. Schelling has over 15 years of experience in business development and previously served as vice president and director of business development at Washington Trust Bank.
Allwest Underground has appointed Rebekah Blackburn coordinator of sales and rentals at its Vancouver, Wash., office. Allwest provides protective shoring and confined space safety systems as well as pipeline testing equipment for utility contractors and municipalities.
Gregory Farrar has joined Unimark Construction Co. as a project manager for tenant improvements and special projects. Farrar has 17 years of construction experience and has specialized knowledge in asbestos removal. He is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound.
The Puget Sound Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction announced Cynthia Miller and Webster Bergford have won scholarship awards for the 1998-99 school year. Miller has supported herself and her two children working as a tradeswoman while pursuing a construction management degree at the University of Washington. She is now an intern at M.A. Mortenson. Bergford is a construction management student at Central Washington University and has been involved with community outreach programs such as food distribution programs in Olympia, participating in humanitarian teams to Yugoslavia, building homes in Guadalajara, and coaching youth soccer and high school wrestling.
Paul Elliott has been named geotechnical services manager at PSI, an independent engineering testing firm. Elliott will be responsible for overseeing geotechnical services operations within the state. He holds a geology degree from UCLA and has over 15 years of industry experience.
Construction management consultant FMI Corp. has had several staff changes. In its Raleigh, N.C., headquarters, Lee D. Smither and Landon R. Funsten have been elected directors. In its Denver office, FMI has hired Stephen A. Runkel as a client services manager.
Jonathon Diamond has been named president of Seattle-based Diamond Parking, Inc. His father, Joel Diamond, the former president, will become chairman and chief executive officer. Josef Diamond was elected to serve as chairman emeritus.
Color Service Group, a visual communications company in Seattle, has promoted Bob Michels to president. Michels will oversee operations for all four of Color Service Group's affiliated companies: Color Service Inc., E.pr, On-Demand Digital Printing and Michels Advertising Photography.
Jason Glover has been appointed graphic artist at Seattle-based Baron & Co. Glover formerly freelanced various art projects for DesignSmith Studio in Seattle.
Moore & Associates, a Bellevue-based change management consulting firm, has hired Kathy A. Lysen as marketing director; Jerry J. Martin as senior consultant; Susan L. Hoberecht as senior consultant; Rebecca A. Uribe as administrative manager.
