Larry Newton has joined Aon Risk Services Inc. of Washington as account executive and senior vice president, specializing in construction surety. Newton is affiliated with Aon's national construction practice group. Aon Risk Services Inc., based in Seattle, is an insurance brokerage and a subsidiary of the Aon Group.
Leisure Care Inc., a Bellevue-based retirement community management firm, has promoted Robert K. Barrett to vice president - treasurer. Barrett formerly served as vice president - controller.
The Economic Development Council of Kitsap County has selected Kevin Dwyer as its new director of business recruitment and marketing. Dwyer formerly served as the business writer for the Kitsap newspaper The Sun.
Woodinville's Western Marine Electronics (WESMAR) has appointed Stuart F. Platt president and chief executive officer. Bruce H. Blakey, founder and president of Wesmar, will become chairman of the board. Platt, Rear Admiral U.S. Navy, retired, formerly served as president of DRS Technologies Data Systems Group in Santa Clara.
Snowpoint Information Systems, an Olympia-based internet software development firm, announced their selection by Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson as one of the key developers of the Ericsson Global Partner Network. The network is a global internet-based dealer support system for Ericsson's cellular phone products.
Wells Fargo is opening a new branch office Sept. 2 inside the Issaquah Safeway Food & Drug at 735-B NW Gilman Blvd., operating from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Virginia Mason Medical Center has promoted Patti Crome, RN, MN, to vice president status. Crome will oversee the cancer care, diabetes, behavioral medicine, and physical medicine and rehabilitation programs. Crome formerly served as administrative director of nursing. Ruth Anderson, Lynne Chafitz, Darlene Corkrum, Pat Maguire, Sarah Patterson, Patti Sheehan, Scott Strandjord and Connie Winberry have all been promoted to vice president status.
Bentall Corp. of Vancouver, B.C., has announced the appointments of Dick Clofelter and Claude Legault to its Board of Directors. Clotfelter retired in April after a 36-year commercial real estate career that included a high-profile stint in Seattle. He founded and led Prescott, a Seattle development company from 1977 to 1993 and built such landmarks as Century Square and Bentall's U.S. Bank Centre. Clotfelter worked for CB Richard Ellis (formerly CB Commercial) where he was president of CB Commerical Capital Markets Advisory, Appraisal and Management Services, and president, chairman and CEO of Westmark Realty Advisors. Legault is president and CEO of SITQ Immobilier, a major Bentall shareholder. He helped found SITQ in 1984 and had been a member of its Board of Directors for many years. He also is deputy chairman of the board of the Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec and a director of the Caisse Real Estate Group and of the Services Financiers CDPQ. Betsy Sutherland has been promoted to vice president, regional manager for Bentall's Property Management Division. Sutherland has 15 years of property management experience, leasing and construction management. Before joining Bentall, she was vice president of property managment for CB Richard Ellis, senior property manager for Prescott and property manager for Rubloff in Atlanta.
Larry R. Palmer has joined the Eastlake office of Windermere Real Estate as a sales associate. Palmer had worked for five years as director of finance for Elder-Health NW. He also served as executive director of Chicken Soup Brigade, a community-based AIDS services organization. He is actively involved in the Pride Foundation and the Cal Anderson Park Committee.
HSC Real Estate Inc., of Seattle, has won the contracts to manage the 233-unit Elliott Bay Plaza Apartments, 2400 Elliott Ave., and the 173-unit Tower 801 at 801 Pine St. The Ohio Teachers' Retirement System owns Elliott Bay Plaza Apartments and Alper Northwest owns Tower 801. HSC manages 10,000 units in the Puget Sound area and has a total portfolio of 15,000 units in Washington, Oregon, California and Nevada.
Denis F. Mehigan has joined Colliers Internatioinal as director of the firm's Corporate Services Group, which is headquartered in Seattle. Mehigan has 18 years of corporate real estate experience having worked for Pacific Bell, Southern Pacific Financing, Blockbuster Video, Clorox and others.
