Beck

Nicholas P. Guarriello has been named president and CEO of R.W. Beck, Inc. He joined the firm in 1977 after seven years with American Electric Power Co. Guarriello is focused on helping public power utilities through power supply planning and contractual arrangements. He played a key role in formation of joint-action power agencies such as the Florida Municipal Power Agency and the Municipal Energy Agency of Mississippi.

Bouillon

Doug Smith has joined Bouillon, Inc. as a project manager and mechanical engineer. He is working with the firm's biopharmaceutical group. Previously with Lockwood Green, Smith is currently working on projects for Bayer in Spokane and for Swedish Medical Center. Tom Kelleher, formerly Process Development Manager for ZymoGenetics, has also joined Bouillon. He is leading the group's development of "paperless" manufacturing systems for biopharmaceutical facilities. Don Renbarger, electrical designer, served in the facilities department for the University of Washington for 30 years. With Bouillon, he is currently providing electrical engineering services for projects at Valley Medical Center including a cogeneration plant study and Sleep Center relocation. Jim Sokol, mechanical engineer, brings to Bouillon 18 years of experience in the design of mechanical systems for industrial facilities. Previously with Chiyoda, he is currently working on projects for Swedish Medical Center. Robert Hatton, Mechanical Designer, has 30 years of experience in design of mechanical and energy systems. He is currently working on a maintenance hangar for Northwest Airlines at SeaTac International Airport.

Entranco

David Wong has joined Entranco as a structural engineer. Wong has served on the design team for large facilities in Washington, Hawaii and Guam.

BOORA

Audrey Carty has joined the staff of BOORA Architects in Portland, and is now at work on the design of the food services remodel at Portland Community College, Sylvania Campus. She has three years of experience in architecture. Francis Dardis is now on BOORA's design team for the expansion and renovation of the Cheney Cowles Museum in Spokane. His seven years of experience includes expansion projects at Nike. Ellie Gilbert is now working on improvements, and renovations to 12 facilities for Portland Public Schools. She is a graduate of the University of Oregon. A recent graduate of Portland State University, Bronson Graff is a design assistant for the Cheney Cowles expansion and renovation project.

Swenson Say Faget

Swenson Say Faget has added five to the staff. Scott Gilberts has joined the firm as CAD systems manager. He was previously with RSP/EQE and most recently owned his own consulting firm. Todd Valentine, a recently graduate of Florida State University, has joined the firm as a staff engineer, and will work with structural systems for custom residential and historic preservation projects. Greg Coons has joined the firm as a staff engineer. His projects include seismic analysis of the Washington State Capitol Building and the University Office Building. Andrew van Leeuwen, a graduate of Washington State University, has joined the firm as a draftsman and engineer in training. He has held positions with Olson/Sundberg Architects and with NBBJ. Mary Kay Rossman has joined Swenson Say Faget as a staff engineer. She has 11 years of experience in engineering, architecture and construction services, and formerly worked for Jacobs Engineering Group of Lake Oswego. Joseph Glaser is new project manager with Swenson Say Faget. He was recently employed by Victor Kimsey Consulting Engineers and taught engineering at the University of Washington.

AESI

Associated Earth Sciences, Inc. (AESI) has added six new members to the staff. Timothy J. Flynn is a senior associate hydrogeologist at AESI, now working in the Bainbridge office. Formerly a principal with Hart Crowser, he has served as program manager for eight multi-year environmental contracts with the U.S. Navy, covering the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Kurt Merriman, senior geotechnical engineer, has provided geotechnical services for over 100 new school and school modernization projects. He will work in the firm's Kirkland office. Bruce Guenzler has joined the Kirkland office as a project geologist with over nine years of experience in geotechnical site investigations, construction monitoring and environmental site assessments. Katie Cumming, staff geologist, joins the Bainbridge office after a year of experience with the King County Division of Solid Waste, where she dealt with the impact of landfill operations on water quality. Heidi Bennett, who interned with the firm as a student at Whitman College, has joined the Bainbridge Island office as a staff geologist. Ryean-Marie Woods, staff geologist, has joined the Kirkland office as supervisor of the geotechnical library. Several staff members have been promoted as AESI. Joe Clare, senior staff engineer in the Kirkland office, has been nominated by his peers as president of the Associate Member Forum of the Seattle Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Jon Sondergaard has been promoted to associate geologist. He oversees the management of the firm's soils laboratory. Otto Paris has been promoted to senior hydrogeologist. He is currently providing hydrogeologic services for the MountainStar development in Kittitas County. John Strunk has been promoted to senior geologist. He is the project manager for King County's South Park Landfill assessment, and also project manager for the Port of Seattle's ground water study at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Kennedy Jenks

James M. Wilder has joined Kennedy/Jenks Consultants as a senior associate engineer. He is an air resources engineer with chemical manufacturing, pulp and paper, power generating and oil refining industries.

Herrera

Linda Allen, Alex Murillo and Matthew Brennan recently joined the engineering group in the Seattle office of Herrera Environmental Consultants. Paul Chiechlowski has joined the firm as CAD manager. Allen is an environmental engineer specializing in water, wastewater, and stormwater facilities. She was most recently with the city of Bellevue Utilities Department. Murillo has joined the firm as civil engineer. He has worked in various capacities as an engineer for the Boeing Co., the city of Tacoma and WSDOT. Brennan is an environmental engineer with expertise in surface water quality, hydrology, and stream ecology. Chiechlowski is past president and owner of a small underwater construction corporation.

Walker Macy

Eric Shriner has joined Walker Macy in Portland as a landscape designer. With a masters degree from the University of Georgia, he is currently working on the Canby Regional Park Feasibility Study, and the Mt. Tabor Park Master Plan. Patrick Sweeney, and landscape architect with over seven years of experience, has assisted in the Orenco New Town Development, Downtown Silverton Parking Plan, and the Oregon Coast Aquarium. Anna Basargin has joined Walker Macy as accounting assistant.

BCE

Paul Songe-Moller has joined BCE Engineers, Inc. as a mechanical project engineer in the Seattle office. He comes to the firm from Holaday-Parks, Inc. mechanical contractors. Carrie L. Edwards is a new electrical designer in the firm's Tacoma office. She has eight years of experience with Tres West Engineers, Inc.

KPG

Richard Abe has joined KPG as a project manager. He was previously a partner with a Honolulu architectural firm. Other recent addition to KPG include Jeff Hamlin, project engineer; Donald M. Anderson, design engineer, Nandez Miller, design engineer, and James R. Raby, office manager and marketing coordinator.

Black & Veatch

Black & Veatch has added four to its Seattle professional engineering staff. John T.M. DeLorie is an analytical chemist and contract systems analyst. Nete Leth is a recent graduate of the University of Washington, where she was awarded the Society of Women Engineers "Outstanding Female Student" title in civil engineering in 1998. Alan I. Lord is also a recent graduate of the University of Washington, and was a summer intern for the Port of Seattle, where he inspected construction projects. Grizelda Sarria holds a bachelor's degree in civil and environmental engineering from Seattle University. She interned with Black & Veatch in 1997, and recently returned from Zambia, where she worked on power supplies, a solar-power cooker, mud-clay housing, and natural insecticide and pesticide programs.

Project Time & Cost

Project Time & Cost, an engineering consulting firm based in Kennewick, has named Matthew W. Strong as business development manager. He has been with the firm for four years, and was advanced to shareholder earlier this year.

Mactec-Meier

Jason Archibald, a recent Washington State University graduate, has joined the architecture group at Mactec-Meier Associates of Kennewick, and will work on the design of commercial and industrial projects.

Mead Gilman and Associates

Ed Anderson, Shana Barnes and Tim Griffin have purchased Mead Gilman and Associates, a 40-year-old land surveying company in Woodinville. Current projects include Redmond Library, U.W. School of Social Work and Wilmot Gateway Park in Woodinville.
