Davis Wright Tremaine

Robert F. Porcarelli, formerly an officer in the U.S. Navy JAG Corps and special assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia, has joined the employment and labor department of Davis Wright Tremaine in its Bellevue office.

Seattle Association of Life Underwriters

Nora Dacus was elected president of the Seattle Association of Life Underwriters. Dacus is the life and health insurance manager for Physicians Insurance Co. in Seattle. Scott Green was elected vice president; Loren Davidson was elected secretary and Michael Simpson was elected treasurer.

The Fishin' Place

Wendy Starr has joined The Fishin' Place as marketing coordinator. Starr formerly worked at Northwest Lodging in Seattle. The Fishin' Place, based in Seattle, prepares and sells a line of fresh dinner products for at-home consumption.

March of Dimes

The March of Dimes Western Washington Chapter recently presented Volunteer of the Year awards to Pat Wearn, Bonnie Boyle, Wayne and Kathie Pritchard, Joe Zavaglia, Robert Strayhan and Robert Fineman. Wearn received the Jonas Salk Award for contributions to health programs and serving as a spokesperson; Boyle received the Basil O'Connor Award for chairing WalkAmerica in Pierce County; the Pritchards received the Eddie Cantor Award for communications; Zavaglia received the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Award for leadership as a board chair; Strayhan received the Rookie of the Year Award ; and Fineman received the Unsung Hero Award for work in program development and education.

University of Washington

Dr. William J. Bremner has been named chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Bremner formerly served as vice chair of the department.

Arden Courts ManorCare Health Services, a division of HCR/Manor Care Inc. in Lynnwood, has appointed Stephen Poulin as its new director. Arden Courts is an Alzheimer's assisted-living residence. Poulin formerly served as an executive director for a community mental health center.
