Boeing

The Boeing Co. announced the retirement of Bob Davis, vice president of engineering and technology, effective Dec. 31. Davis, 65, has served in this position since August 1994. He has been with Boeing for 40 years and worked on virtually every 7-series commercial airplane program.

Saint Martin's College

Ken F. Parsons Sr. has been elected to a two-year term as chairman of Lacey's Saint Martin's College board of trustees. Parsons is president and CEO of First Community Financial Group and First Community Bank, which he helped found in 1978. Parsons has been a board member for two years.

Pierce College

Elizabeth A. Willis has been appointed by Gov. Gary Locke to the Pierce College Board of Trustees, Community College District 11. Willis is owner of Willis Communications, a marketing and management consulting firm servicing clients in public affairs, research and marketing. Willis is also a principal and senior business analyst for The Freeland Group, a management consulting firm.

Smartstop

Smartstop Inc., a Portland-based provider of data and voice telecommunications for the transportation industry, has chosen Alan J. Beauchamp as its chief financial officer and vice president of finance. Beauchamp formerly served as vice president of finance at Data I/O.

Horton Lantz Marocco

Horton Lantz Marocco, a Seattle-based design agency, has added Diane Christensen as senior designer, Roseann Taculad as print production assistant and Katrina Seeley as receptionist and office coordinator.

Northwest Hospital

Barbara Ringhouse has been selected as manager of Northwest Hospital's Childbirth Center. Ringhouse formerly served as national director of a healthcare practice management and development firm.

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center

Lee Hartwell, president and director of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, recently received the 1998 Brinker International Basic Research Award. Hartwell was honored for his pioneering work in the use of yeast genetics to study the basic mechanisms of cell-cycle regulation. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation established the awards in 1992, which recognize leading scientists for significant work advancing research concepts or clinical application in the field of breast cancer research, screening or treatment.

Pacific North Equipment

Pacific North Equipment Co. of Kent has announced the following promotions and additions. Christian Davidson has joined PNE as manager, information technology, in the Technology Group. Davidson will engineer and protect the company's investments in technology infrastructure. He worked previously for a heavy equipment dealer in Phoenix, Ariz. Tom Tracey has joined the company as the rental coordinator, responsible for all rentals, machine movements and accessories for the expanding PNE Rentals Division. Doug Moschtti has been promoted to senior credit and retail finance manager. He originally joined PNE as credit manger for Oregon. Eddie Gibson has been promoted to Chehalis service manager, responsible for the daily operations of the Chehalis service department. Gibson has worked for PNE for 24 years, primarily as a field mechanic. Colvin Holm recently celebrated his 25-year anniversary at Pacific North Equipment, located at 22431 83rd Ave. S. in Kent. Holm started at the company as a parts counter person in 1973 and worked his way up to regional parts manager, a post he has held for the past 10 years. Pacific North Equipment of Kent has been chosen as the number one dealer for Moxy Trucks in the United States for 1998. Moxy Trucks presented its annual "President's Award" to Tim A. Hess, vice president of sales for Pacific North. The award is based on dealer practices, market share and creative marketing efforts.

Briggs & Stratton

Briggs & Stratton, Milwaukee, Wis.-based engine manufacturer, announced that Douglas Wills recently took and passed the Master Service Technician Exam. Wills, who works for Barnett Turf & Tractor of Snohomish, is one of only 2,800 engine technicians worldwide to have achieved Master Service Technician status.
