Robert Feller, a commercial fishing specialist, recently joined the purchasing team at Fisheries Supply Co. in Seattle. Feller formerly worked for Marine Distributors Inc. John Rothermel was recently promoted to vice president of sales. Rothermel is the first non-family member to be promoted to vice president status.
Ryan D. Rein has joined Foster Pepper & Shefelman as an associate practicing in the estate planning and probate group in the law firm's Seattle office.
Stanislaw Ashbaugh, a Seattle-based law firm, has named Michael T. Zoretic partner. Zoretic will continue his practice in construction law, commercial litigation and employment law. Christopher Wright was recently hired as an associate in construction and commercial litigation. Diane C. Grauer was recently hired as a construction consultant, concentrating on litigation support, claims and preparation analysis, and alternative dispute resolution.
Charles D. Kee has been elected chair of the Edmonds Community College board of trustees and Karen Miller was elected the new vice chair. Kee, an insurance executive, is a partner in Unity Group Inc. in Lynnwood. Ronald M. Battles was recently named director of the Small Business Development Center at Edmonds Community College. Battles formerly served as director of the center at Grays Harbor College.
Kristen M. Bamford, Marya N. Cotten, Kenneth E. Payson, Judith H. Ramseyer and David J. Ward have been hired as associates in the Seattle law office of Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe. Bamford practices environmental law, Cotten practices business law, Payson practices general commercial litigation, Ramseyer practices commercial and general litigation, and Ward practices in the litigation department.

Johnpaul Jones has been awarded the 1998 Ellis F. Lawrence Medal from the School of Architecture and Allied Arts at the University of Oregon. Jones, a senior principal of Jones & Jones, Architects and Landscape Architects of Seattle, is a 1967 graduate of the University of Oregon. He is also a Fellow with the American Institute of Architects. He has made a career of integrating architecture with regional parks, zoological and botanical gardens, aquaria, urban waterfronts, streets, and restoration projects.
The 1998 Master Craftsman Award was presented by AIA Spokane, a chapter of the American Institute of Architects) to Les Albert, longtime masonry contractor in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. Albert became a bricklayer's apprentice in 1953, and the next year joined his brother's Spokane company, Albert & Leffler Masonry, where he worked for the next decade. He worked for another local company before forming his own partnership and then his own firm, Les Albert Masonry, Inc. Since his semi-retirement in 1993, his wife has been president of the firm. Albert, a three-time winner of the John Cunningham Memorial Award for Excellence in masonry construction, served as president of the Spokane Masonry Contractors Association and as secretary the Washington State Conference of Masonry Contractors.
The Society of American Military Engineers has given its annual Design Excellence Award to WPC, a Gig Harbor general contractor specializing in design/build construction. The winning project is the David L. Stone Education Center at Fort Lewis, a 70,000-square-foot facility on an eight-acre site.
Writer Robert Fulgham will present "You Couldn't Pay Me Enough to Do This" at the annual meeting of the Association of King County Historical Organizations on Tuesday, Jan. 26. The meeting is from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nordic Heritage Museum, 3014 NW 67th, and the cost is $20 per person, including speaker, refreshments and luncheon. TCI Media Services/Puget Sound has hired Tom Schaeffer as sales account executive in the company's Seattle office, and Scott Carey as sales account executive in Olympia. Tracey Wilson has joined TCI in Tacoma as account representative.
HR Northwest, a Bellevue-based human resource consulting firm, has added Pam Drotning as a senior consultant. Drotning formerly served as survey manager and compensation consultant with Washington Employers Inc.
Geoffrey Bridges, chairman of Bridges Worldwide, an independent global express consolidator, has been elected president of The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA). Other new officers include Guenter Rohrmann, vice president; George Johnson, treasurer; Garth H. Davies, secretary; and W.R. Christopher Foyle is the immediate past president on the council.
Safeco recently presented its annual Rudy Awards, along with a total of $90,000 in grants, to three leaders who have contributed to local non-profits and their communities. The awards were given to Dave Surface, executive director of the Snohomish County Campfire Boys and Girls; James May, director of the Bellevue-based Fathers Network; and Jerry Hurst, director of the Care Center domestic violence shelter in Indianapolis.
Schwabe Williamson & Wyatt elected Neal A. Hueske and Paul A. Stamnes as shareholders in the firm. Attorneys recently joining the Portland law offices include Donald C. Fuchs, Denise G. Tully's Coffee has hired Marc E. Patient as the new national sales manager for its wholesale division. Patient formerly served as national sales manager for Cascade Coffee and Seattle's Best Coffee.
Hawkins & Co., a Seattle-based public relations company, has hired Jennifer Duryee as an account coordinator. Duryee previously served as a field director for the Washington State Democrats.
Bo McFadden has been promoted to associate at GeoEngineers' Seattle office. He has been with the firm for 10 years, working primarily with architects and civil/structural engineering firms. Clients include the Department of Corrections, the Corps of Engineers and the city of Seattle. Other recent promotions at GeoEngineers include Lisa Bona to senior geologist, Dave Cook to senior geologist, Steve Woodward to project geologist, Paul Craig to staff geologist and Scot Overdick to lead environmental technician.
Marc C. Gleason has been named principal and stockholder at the McGranahan Partnership in Tacoma. He is director of design for the firm, and has worked on several award-winning projects, including the Department of Ecology headquarters, Fourth and Fawcett low income housing in Tacoma, and the Tacoma Housing Authority Family Investment Center. His experience also includes the Denney Juvenile Justice Center and the new Pierce County Jail.
Andersen Bjornstad Kane Jacobs has promoted Michael Bramhall, James Morris, and C. Stephen Yu to the level of associate and has appointed Pong Jongitirat, Ricky Langford and Amar Nagpal to the board of directors. Bramhall has been with the firm since 1989, and has worked as a structural engineer on a variety of major Microsoft projects, including the Augusta Campus. He is now working in the Enlisted Dining Facility at the Naval Station in Bremerton. Morris, who joined the firm in 1991, specializes in the design of retaining walls and sheet pile or soldier pile bulkheads, marine structures and industrial buildings. He is currently in charge of construction support services for bridges on the Alderwood Mall Boulevard connector project and marine structures for the U.S. Coast Guard in Bellingham. Yu is now working on the structural design of Lincoln Square in Bellevue, Harrison Memorial Hospital in Silverdale and Pioneer Grand Central in Manila. Jongitirat has 25 years of experience in engineering and is currently overseeing the seismic retrofit of several bridges, including the I-5 Ship Canal Bridge. Langford is the head of ABKJ's program management department. Her experience includes a broad range of project types. Nagpal is the controller of ABKJ. He has been with the firm since 1991.
Seong Shin has joined Merritt + Pardini as director of interior design for the company's Tacoma and Seattle offices. She has spent the last eight years as owner and operator of Seong Shin Interior Design. She has worked with Merritt + Pardini on several projects, including a new city hall for Lake Forest Park, the city of Edmonds Public Safety Complex, and the Lakewood Water District addition.
