Systems Interface

Systems Interface, a Bothell-based designer and manufacturer of industrial control systems, has added Antonio Giacobbe as sales engineer. Giacobbe formerly worked for Rockwell Automation's Seattle District office.

Virginia Mason

Craig S. Murakami, MD, recently joined Virginia Mason Medical Center's Section of Otolaryngology.

Fred Hutchinson

Ronald McDonald House Charities awarded the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center $50,000 for a one-year clinical research fellowship in pediatric oncology. The grant will cover the costs of training a young scientist in advanced treatment methods for childhood cancers.

The Ackerley Group

The Seattle office of The Ackerley Group has added Terry Macaluso as executive vice president of administration. Macaluso formerly served as head of the Lakeside School in Seattle. Macaluso will also join the policy-making body, the Office of the President. The Ackerley Group is involved in advertising, broadcasting, and sports and entertainment operations.

Anchor Marina renamed

The Port of Seattle has renamed the port-owned Anchor Marina on the Duwamish River in memory of Jim Clark, who passed away last year. Clark served as president of the Duwamish Waterway Association and secretary-treasurer of the Teamsters Local 882. Effective immediately, the 105-slip marina in Seattle will be known as the Jim Clark Marina.

Unico Properties

Chris Holden has joined Unico Properties as general manager of the 1.6-million-square-foot Metropolitan Tract in downtown Seattle. Holden, a 15-year real estate veteran, had worked as senior director of the Northwest region of CB Richard Ellis. The Metropolitan Tract is owned by the University of Washington and is comprised of the Rainier Tower, Rainier Square, Financial Center, IBM Building, Cobb Medical Center, Skinner Building and the Puget Sound Plaza. Polly McCarthy is Unico's new director of communications. She will lead and manage the public relations, marketing and advertising for every division of the company's offices in Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma and Renton as well as Unico Construction. She was the production manager for Westin Hotels & Resorts and has 15 years' experience in the hospitality and print media fields.

Lynnwood Mortgage

Lynnwood Mortgage has named Rhonda Baker senior loan officer at the Everett branch and Betty Hugel senior loan officer at the Silverdale branch. Also at Everett, Kim Newton was promoted to loan processor. Baker had been with Cornerstone Management in Everett where she was the top producing loan officer in 1997 and 1998. Hugel had worked for Washington Mutual in Silverdale. Newton was promoted after one year of providing administrative support in the Everett office.

Realty One/Keller Williams Realty

Realty One, an independent, full-service real estate brokerage in Gig Harbor, has affiliated with Keller Williams Realty, a national firm that is establishing itself in the Northwest. Realty One is owned by John and Carole Holmaas and Dave Morris. They have a total of 90 years of real estate experience. Keller Williams, which is based in Austin, Texas, has one office in Bellevue staffed with 30 consultants. It has plans for 40 offices in Washington, Idaho and Oregon.

Seattle Mortgage

Seattle Mortgage recently arranged $733,000 in permanent financing for the Air Van Building in Everett. The 25,605-square-foot building industrial building is owned by Paul and Constance Zimmerman and Anthony Kahmann and will continue with Air Van Lines as its tenant. Skip Slavin closed the deal. Seattle Mortgage also arranged for $1 million in permanent financing for the Fourth Avenue West Mobile Home Park, also in Everett. McLaughlin 4th Street Estates LLC owns the property. John Henkle closed the deal.

Windermere Real Estate

Windermere has launched a website -- seasunandsnow.com -- to help buyers and renters locate vacation and retirement homes in Northwest destination communities from the San Juan Islands to Sun Valley, Idaho. In March, Windermere plans to publish a magazine, Lifestyle Northwest, to showcase properties listed on the website. Windermere pioneered online real estate services in 1994 with the first searchable database of homes.
