Debra L. Friedman has joined Seattle's Children's Hospital as a pediatric cancer specialist in the division of hematology and oncology. Friedman also serves as an assistant professor with the department of pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Richard W. Grady has joined as an attending physician in urology and an assistant professor with the department of urology at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
Michael A. Hart has joined Salomon Smith Barney as a financial consultant in the Federal Way office. Hart formerly served as a manager at US West Communications in Seattle.
Washington Supreme Court Justice Barbara A. Madsen, incoming chair of the court's Gender and Justice Commission, will be participating in a national conference on gender fairness at the University of Georgia.
U.S. Bank has named Teri Tseng vice president and retail sales manager for its Seattle Metro market. Tseng formerly served as a small business banking officer at the First Hill branch office.
Bonnie Barnard has been appointed director of operations for the new Institute on Technology and the Economy at Everett Community College. The institute is being developed as an interdisciplinary focal point for the interaction between education and the local, state and regional economy. Elizabeth Olson has been appointed director of human resources/affirmative action. Olson formerly served as director of human resources at the Purdue University North Central campus. Mike Kolosseus, economics instructor, recently spoke about an economy at risk at the Snohomish County Economic Development Council.
Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, a Portland-based law firm, has promoted Donald W. Williams to chief operating officer. Williams formerly served as business manager.
The Senior Services Volunteer Transportation Program needs volunteer drivers to transport and escort frail elderly living throughout King County to medical appointments, to hot lunch programs and to other essential appointments. Simpson Tacoma Kraft, Pierce Transit, REI's Sumner facility, Port of Tacoma, Randall Stearnes of Tacoma Public Utilities and Merle Carlson Jr. of Simpson Tacoma Kraft were awarded Summit Awards recently. Summit Awards were created to honor those employers and individuals in Pierce County that effectively seek solutions to the problem of traffic congestion through their corporate and individual efforts.
