Ferguson Construction

Seattle's Ferguson Construction has added two employees to its executive team. Chris Raftery is the new executive vice president and Don Surina is the new director of construction operations. Prior to joining the firm, both held senior management positions at Hoffman Construction. Raftery will put his 29 years of industry experience to work by overseeing all aspects of Ferguson Construction while expanding the company's activity in preconstruction services, and office and mixed-use developments. Surina, who has 25 years of experience, will be responsible for all construction operations in the seven western and southwestern states served by the company.

Trendwest Resorts Inc.

Timothy O'Neil has been named vice president of finance for Trendwest Resorts Inc., based in Bellevue. O'Neil formerly served as a vice president with Bank One Corp. in Detroit. Al Schriber and Gene Hensley were recently named executive vice presidents.

Primus

Primus, a Seattle-based company specializing in Web-based problem resolution and knowledge management software, recently appointed Michael Brochu chairman of the board. Brochu will continue his role as president and chief executive officer and is succeeding Primus founder Steven Sperry, who recently resigned. Skip Walter has been appointed vice president of product development and technology. Walter formerly served as chief technologist at Aldus Corp. Kim N. Nelson has joined the company as vice president of sales. Nelson formerly served as vice president of sales for Oracle Business Online.

Washington State University

Washington State University professor emeritus Lothar Kreck was recently awarded the Order of Merit, Germany's highest civilian honor. Kreck has taught several courses at the University of Munich and at the Fachhochschule Munchen and was a Fulbright grant recipient.

Card Capture Services Inc.

Card Capture Services Inc., an independent provider of ATMs, recently opened offices in Los Angeles, Denver, Tampa, Chicago and Portland. John Bunce will serve as business manager for the Northwest territory, which includes Oregon, Washington, Idaho and part of Canada.

Smart Trek

BusView, a free web-based project that allows people to view bus locations on a computer, has been installed by Seattle's Smart Trek program. The information is available to anyone with Internet access and the latest version of Netscape browser (4.06 or later) or Internet Explorer Version 4.01 with Service Pack 1 (or later). Information on how to access BusView is available on the Smart Trek website at http://www.SmartTrek.org. Smart Trek is a $17.9 million demonstration project funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Washington State Department of Transportation and private companies.

Publicis

Bill Penczak has joined the Seattle offices of advertising agency Publicis as senior principal and group managing director. Penczak formerly worked with Houston agency Fogarty Klein & Partners.

Professional Data Exchange

Steve Rhodes has been promoted to senior business developer for Professional Data Exchange, a Portland-based information technology company. Rhodes formerly served as corporate recruiting manager.

Bellevue Downtown Association

Alan Fulp, senior vice president at Charter Bank in Bellevue, has been named chairman of the Bellevue Downtown Association.

Advanced TelCom Group Inc.

Advanced TelCom Group, a Tacoma-based telephone and Internet service provider for the South Sound, has named Bruce Greene general manager of Pierce and Thurston counties. Greene formerly served as sales manager, major accounts for US West in Arizona.

Yaletown Technology Group Inc.

Yaletown Technology Group Inc., a Kirkland-based information technology consulting firm specializing in decision support systems and electronic document management, has hired Brian Austin as general manager. Austin formerly served as business manager at Carlson Architects in Seattle.

Seattle Weekly

George Howland Jr. was recently named news editor at Seattle Weekly. Fred Moody, former news editor, will become managing editor. Howland formerly served as news editor for The Stranger.

Gene Juarez Salon and Spa

Gene Juarez Salon and Spa has expanded and is now operating out of a new, relocated full-service spa at Southcenter Mall. Gene Juarez has a full day spa available in addition to hair styling services.
