University of Puget Sound

Edward Seferian, violin professor and conductor for the symphony orchestra and string orchestra for the University of Puget Sound for 40 years, will be retiring this May. Seferian also helped found the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra, and served as conductor, musical director and chief fundraiser until 1993. A concert honoring Seferian will be held April 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Puget Sound Concert Hall. Tickets are free; for more information, call (253) 756-3555.

Ross Litho-Flexo-Prepress

Ross Litho-Flexo-Prepress of Spokane recently added Mitzi Lutton to its sales staff. Lutton will service printing clients in the Puget Sound and Inland Northwest markets.

Laird Norton Trust

Laird Norton Trust Co., a Seattle-based private trust and investment management firm, recently hired Robin Ackerlund as vice president/account manager. Ackerlund formerly served as vice president and client service manager at Seafirst Bank in Seattle.

Puget Sound Blood Center

Mick Larkin has been appointed director of development at Seattle's Puget Sound Blood Center. Larkin formerly served as director of development for the Annie Wright School in Tacoma. The Puget Sound Blood Center is the primary blood bank in Western Washington and a national leader in transfusion and transplant research.

Horton Lantz Marocco

Horton Lantz Marocco, a Seattle-based design agency, recently added Tim Ross as an account manager and Michael VanSchepen as a senior production designer. Ross formerly served as a project manager with Landor Associates in Seattle. VanSchepen formerly served as an electronic production designer with Landor Associates.

West Coast Lumber Inspection Bureau

The West Coast Lumber Inspection Bureau recently elected Clement Frank president; Bob Waltz vice president; and Wayne Tjoelker secretary-treasurer. The Bureau is a Portland-based not-for-profit organization that writes and publishes lumber grading rules and provides lumber inspection services to 112 member sawmills across the United States and Europe.

Department of Public Health

The Seattle-King County Department of Public Health has changed its name to Public Health -- Seattle & King County. The name change is one part of a larger effort to help make Public Health more understandable and accessible to the residents of King County.

Stellar International Holdings

Paul B. Taylor, a veteran in domestic and international real estate, has joined Stellar International as vice president of business development. He will handle acquisitions at home and abroad. Taylor is a former U.S. Army intelligence officer, who speaks several languages. He had been handling acquisitions for the State Teachers Retirement Fund of Ohio. Stellar is a Seattle-based firm whose principals are major participants in Pine Street Development in Seattle. Last year in Tacoma, the company bought the headquarters of the Frank Russell Co. Stellar also is a prominent urban developer in Sweden and has investments elsewhere in Europe and in various parts of the United States.

Quadrant

The commercial real estate division of Quadrant has two new employees, Rick Libsack as senior development manager and Jeff Roberts as project manager. Libsack, who previously worked as an account executive for Evergreen Title Co., in Seattle, will be responsible for managing Quadrant's commercial development entitlements and will primarily work on the 100-acre East Campus Corporate Park in Federal Way. Roberts was a construction manager for Eddie Bauer. He now is responsible for commercial developments at Quadrant's Monte Villa Center in Bothell and East Campus Corporate Park in Federal Way.

Colliers International

Colliers has promoted Rich Mermelstein to senior vice president and Bob Bencze to associate vice president. Eric Larsen has joined Colliers as a commercial real estate agent. He previously was an account manager for The Domain Group, an advertising agency.

Marcus & Millichap

Kenny Dudunakis of Marcus & Millichap brokered two recent sales of multi-family properties to Commercial Ventures Inc., of California. Simpson Financing Limited Partnership of Colorado sold the 325-unit Crestwood Park Apartments in Renton for $16.63 million. Simpson Housing Group of Colorado sold the 192-unit Amberwood Village Apartments in Lynnwood for $11.37 million. Commercial Ventures plans to make cosmetic improvements to both properties.

North Coast Mortgage

North Coast Mortgage has arranged fixed-rate financing of $7.45 million for Pacific Place Apartments in Edmonds. Funding was provided through Lois Townsend for Pacific Park Apartments LLC. The loan subsequently was sold to Freddie Mac.

Sunbelt National Mortgage

Sunbelt National Mortgage has acquired Cambridge Mortgage Co., a North Seattle home lender. Cambridge principals will remain to direct the North Seattle branch. Rose Marie David is branch manager, and Gail Bean heads the operations department. Sunbelt, a division of FT Mortgage Companies, has more than 70 locations in 17 states and is headquarterd in Dallas. FT Mortgage is a division of First Tennessee Bank.

Mortgage Market

Willow Eskridge and Doug Frost have been named mortgage bankers at Mortgage Market. Eskridge worked in sales for Prestige Ford before joining the mortgage company's Southcenter branch in Tukwila. Frost, who works at the Northgate branch in Seattle, previously worked for Airborne Express as a customer service representative.

HomeAdvisor

Microsoft's HomeAdvisor online real estate service has added five national lenders to its site. Bank One Corp., Citibank Mortgage, GreenPoint Financial Corp./Headlands Mortgage Co., American Home Mortgage LLC and North American Mortgage Co., have signed alliances with HomeAdvisor.

Windermere Real Estate

Windermere has released statistics that show it was the leader in the greater Puget Sound area in 1998. According to the company, it led the way in volume by representing 32 percent of the buyers and 35 percent of the sellers. It also led in number of transactions, representing 28 percent of the buyers and 32 percent of the sellers. The numbers are based on the percentage of actual sold listings.

Coldwell Banker

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage now has the No. 1 market share in Clark County, Wash., thanks to its acquisition of ERA Expert Realty Associates. The acquisition takes Coldwell Banker from three offices with 75 associates in the greater Vancouver area to seven offices with more than 275 agents. This gives Coldwell Banker 21 percent of the Clark County residential market, according to the Daily Journal of Commerce in Portland.

Charter Bank

Kirt LeGrande has been promoted to assistant vice president and manager of information technologies at Bellevue's Charter Bank. LeGrande will be responsible for all technology-based systems including computer hardware and software and network and mainframe connections.

Miller Nash

Miller Nash recently added D. William Toone as partner and Valerie du Laney as an associate in its Seattle law office. Toone, who formerly served as corporate counsel for Cox Laboratories Inc., will focus his practice in the areas of intellectual property licensing and infringement litigation. Du Laney will focus her practice in the areas of trademarks, intellectual property licensing, litigation and business matters.

Foster Pepper & Shefelman

Allen D. Israel recently became the leader of Seattle law firm Foster Pepper & Shefelman's Business Practice Group. Israel has served as a partner since 1983. Israel is also president and founding member of the Northwest Museum of Natural History.

Peterson Russell Cofano

Patrick M. Moran recently became a member of Peterson Russell Cofano, a Bellevue-based law firm. Moran previously practiced as an associate with Williams, Kastner & Gibbs and has been with Peterson Russell Cofano since its inception in 1996.

EDC of Seattle and King County

The Economic Development Council of Seattle and King County recently named Jeffrey M. Daggett chairman of the board of directors. Daggett serves as chairman and chief executive officer of W & H Pacific, a Seattle-based consulting and design firm.

B&B Auto Parts

Tim Phillips recently acquired a 100 percent interest in Renton-based B&B Auto Parts from former CEO Rob Weinstein. Phillips has served as president and minority stockholder for 10 years.
