CB Richard Ellis

CB Richard Ellis has recruited well-known land specialist Donald A. Moody, to help clients cut through the increasingly complicated issues involved with bringing raw land to market. "Raw land available for development within urban growth boundaries is extremely scarce," said Moody, who as the former owner of Western Pacific Properties Inc., has specialized in raw land transactions since the early 1970s. "The entitlement process has gotten progressively more complex over the last 25 years and now, with new Endangered Species Act rules about to be enacted, it is in danger of coming to a complete halt." More than ever, it is important to track those parcels of land within the urban growth boundaries and for sellers to take an active role in gaining the entitlements for development, added Moody whose new title is head of the CB Richard Ellis Land Brokerage Division in the Puget Sound region. When subdivision, zoning and permitting property can take 18 to 36 months, every month that can be saved means thousands of dollars to both sellers and buyers, he said. Moody has been involved with every aspect of land entitlement including solving wetland and hazardous waste problems as well as transactions ranging from selling a landfill to buying an airport. He has worked extensively with Puget Power as well as Puget Western, the Corliss Co., Gordon Trucking, Alaska Traffic, Northwest Forest Products, Pierre Enterprises and the Estate of James Stengel. Joining him at his new post are Teresa Patton as sales assistant and Nancy Moody as administrative assistant.
