Opus Northwest has promoted Tom Parsons to vice president. He will provide strategic direction and oversee operations of the company's Seattle and Portland offices. Opus Northwest is an affiliate of the Opus group of companies, a Minneapolis-based design, construction and development firm.
Ava Schrader has been promoted to the level of senior property manager at Norris, Beggs & Simpson. She joined the firm in 1992, and has been responsible for tenant relations, vendor selection and budgeting for highrise office buildings.
Oscar Uceda has joined the staff of Properties East, Inc., and will be active in the sales of residential and commercial real estate. Uceda was a real estate investor prior to becoming a full time real estate agent in 1995. Born in El Salvador, he studied engineering in college and has played on professional soccer teams.
Windermere Real Estate has been named the nation's largest independent real estate brokerage by Real Trends, a national real estate trade publication. The special report, called "Top 500," ranks the leading U.S. and residential brokerages that are also local or regional franchisors. Windermere was ranked first in sales volume (more than $13 billion), number of offices (173), and number of agents (4,184). Sales associate Tom Wilbanks has joined the Queen Anne office of Windermere. Wilbanks was previously with Cable Plus/Telephone Plus in Bellevue.
Coldwell Banker Bain Associates was named the number one commercial office in gross sales commission income in the state for Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corp. during 1998. Roger G. Schmidt earned the ranking of number one commercial producer for Washington state in 1998, and has been placed among the company's "International President's Elite." Coldwell Banker recently expanded its office on Everett Mall Way.
The 16-unit Casa Barbara Apartments, 730 N. 85th, sold for $1.4 million to Gary G. Kuhar. The seller was Gretchen Kaiser of Montana, represented by Bruce Kahn of Marcus & Millichap.
David Engelswas recently named vice president and relationship manager at Bellevue-based Charter Bank. Engels formerly served as senior vice president at Redmond National Bank.
Jody Rosentswieg was recently appointed assistant executive director for Girl Scouts Totem Council. Rosentswieg formerly served as program development director for Washington State's court-appointed special advocate program. Posy Gering was recently appointed to Girl Scouts Totem Council's nominating committee. Gering is the president of Brainwave, a communications firm specializing in service to the technology sector. Lisa Denis and Lisa Vernerwere recently appointed to the board of directors committee. Denis manages the purchasing and distribution center for AAA Washington. Verner owns Commercial Development Solutions, a real estate services consulting business.
John A. Roberts Jr. has recently been promoted to president of the Washington offices of Acordia West. Roberts formerly served as executive vice president and manager of the Seattle office of Acordia Northwest. Acordia provides insurance brokerage, employee benefits, worker's compensation programs, managed health care integration, consulting and other health care cost control services.
Roberta Farris has been appointed vice president of corporate affairs and Marsha Royer has been promoted to vice president of human resources at Olympic Resources Management, a Poulsbo-based timber management firm. Olympic Resources Management is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pope Resources. Farris formerly served as an attorney and real estate developer at Trillium Corp. Royer formerly served as director of human resources.
Alexandria Digital Literature, a Seattle-based internet publisher of digital science fiction, recently introduced support for Palm Computing connected organizers. The company has also reached an agreement with NuvoMedia to publish its catalog in the Rocket eBook format in June 1999.
