Girvin Inc., a Seattle-based strategic branding and design firms, recently hired Teri Bassett as a design director for television and film; Laura Gilbert as a senior designer; Chris Elliott as an associate designer; Alfred Astort as a senior interactive designer; Jeffrey Burk as a senior interactive designer; Ann Michelle Davignon as a digital production associate; and Jerrol Golden has been added to its marketing team.

Elgin DDB

Elgin DDB, a Seattle-based communications company, recently added Mary Ward-Smith as director of relationship marketing; Audrey Lincoff as an account supervisor; Cindy Riccardo as a media account manager for the Nordstrom account; and Erin Baebleras an account executive for the Holland America account. Ward-Smith formerly served as management supervisor for Bozell Seattle. Lincoff formerly served as national director of field marketing for Brueggers Bagels in Minneapolis. Riccardo formerly served as a media specialist for Nordstrom. Baebler formerly served as a product manager for WM Financial Service in Seattle.

Weber + Thompson

S. Jin Lee has joined Weber + Thompson as a project manager, and is currently overseeing construction of Water's Edge, a 25 million dollar, 13-unit luxury waterfront condominium project in Kirkland. He is also managing a 75,000-square-foot office building project in Eastgate. Architect Rick Nishino is now the firm's quality control manager and construction administrator. He is currently managing several multifamily projects under construction including the Uptown apartment project in Queen Anne, Shilshole Views Condominiums on Shilshole Avenue, and The Astoria at Meydenbauer Bay. Jillene Cochran is the new project manager for Weber + Thompson's financial and hospitality projects. She is currently managing a credit union project in Eugene, Ore., and two restaurant projects. Joe Kolmer has joined the firm as an interior designer and job captain and is working on numerous financial and retail projects located throughout Washington, Oregon, and California. Robin Grier has come from Montreal, Canada to assist in the design of a 25-story residential highrise and a commercial project in the Denver Technology Center in Denver. Cory Harris also came from Montreal, Canada and is working on an Eastside office building, a luxury condominium project in Kirkland, and a mixed-use project in Seattle for Weber + Thompson. The firm has added three interns to the architectural staff. Michael Abbott is assisting on multifamily apartment projects in Bellevue, Seattle, and Denver. Boyd Pickrel is currently at work on a single family residence in Laurelhurst and a 25-million-dollar luxury condominium. Leah Towne is working on a new fully-accessible single family custom residence on Orcas Island and several multifamily projects.

ZGF

Ken Sanders, partner and manager of informatiomn services for Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership, has been named by A/E/C Systems International as the winndr of the 1999 Ed Forrest Award for Excellence in Design/Construction Automation. Sanders developed the original software code behind ZGF's project specifid Web sites. He has been a featured speaker since 1988 at the annula A/E/C/ Systems national conference and trade show, and he has been featured in or written articles for national professional magazines.

KPG

Franchot Fenske has joined KPG as principal for municipal engineering services, with involvement in surface water management and utility system design and construction. He holds leadrship positions with te American Society for Engineering Management. He has been with R.W. Beck for 19 years. Brad Wakeman has joined KPG as a senior project architect for a variety of municipal and industrial projects. He has master's degrees in archtiecture and environmental engineering, and has been a project archiect with Mithun Partners. Justin Davis and Olivia Buban have joined KPG as engineering interns to provide support for a variety of roadway improvement projects.

DEA

Scott Thomas, who has owned and operated his own survey firm, Thomas Land Surveying, for 13 years has joined with David Evans and Associates along with two of his staff members, Brent Thomas and Ron Darling. Scott has 24 years of professional experience in Pierce County and will serve as as project surveyor in the DEA Tacoma office. The groups has added two new surveyors to the staff as well. Joe Alvarez has joined DEA Tacoma as a project surveyor. His current work includes project management of the survey for the Tacoma segment Commuter Rail for Sound Transit and project management for the I-5 high-occupancy vehicle corridor survey project from Tacoma Mall to state Route 705 for WSDOT. Bob Emerson has also joined the Tacoma office as a project surveyor, and is currently providing on-site oversite for the remediation of the Tulalip Superfund site in Marysville.

Notkin

Rod Sands has joined Notkin Engineering after a 15 year career at The Boeing Company as an aircraft environmental control systems engineer. Currently he is working on t Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital Renovation in Sitka, Alaska and on the Experience Music Project. Tom Bowman has joined the firm as a mechanicla designer with a specialty in CAD drafting. He is currently working on the Overlake School Performing Arts Center in Redmond, the Expericence Music project in Seattle and the Evergreen Hospital Medical Center parking garage expansion in Kirkland.

AHBL

AHBL of Tacoma has added three new principals to the firm. They are Doreen Gavin, Thomas Hicksa and Len Zickler. Gavin has been with the firm for nine years as senior project manager for the civil engineering depsrtment. She is currently involved in several Fred Meyer prjooects throughout the Northwest. Hicks joined AHBL nine years ago as a senior project manager for the structural enginering department. He has been involved wth the designe of teh Washington State Patrol Building in Yakima and seismic upgrades for Good Samaritan Hosptial in Puyallup. Zickler, who has been with the firm for five years as project manager for the planning and landscape architecture department, has been responsible fro planning projects for the city of Milton and the Spokane River Centennilal Trail. Dan Shaw has been promoted to project manager for AHBL's civil engineering department. He has been with the firm for five years, and his projects include several schools and post offices. Sharon Alvord was recently promoted to office manager. She joined the firm two years ago and specializes in human resources. AHBL has also added seven new members to the staff. Jungbum "JB" Hur joined the civil department as a design engineer. He has worked on the Tillicum Headstart Facility in Lakewood and the Enumclaw Fire Station. Kirk B. Morgan joined the structural department as design engineer. He has been working on the Sultan Community Center and the Puyallup YMCA. Michael Marshall and Mark Williams have joined the firm as a CAD drafters. Charly Rowe is a new receptionist, and Naome Martinez has joined the firm as an administrative assistant. Jennifer Fitzgerald has returned to the administrative department.
