Seattle's Ledcor Industries has added Larry J.R. Lunsford as senior project director, Mike Vowels as manager of special projects and Ken Lorenz as a senior project manager. Lunsford has over 20 years of industry experience, including fast-track, lowrise office, design-build retail, industrial and distribution warehouse projects. His role at the company includes subcontractor and vendor contract negotiations, daily construction operations, supervision of project management staff and superintendents, and oversight of the safety and quality assurance programs. Vowels has over 20 years of experience in commercial, retail and industrial projects. His duties include acting as a liaison between owners, architects and engineers; and providing technical expertise, field superintendent support, schedules, quality control and project management. Lorenz has over 17 years of experience in commercial and industrial construction. He also has a background in the project entitlement process that includes agency approvals and permitting, preconstruction services, and cost and schedule development and control.
Two new team members have joined RCI Construction Group in Sumner. Tom Nielsen is a project manager and Dennis Irick is a senior estimator and project manager. Nielsen has over 12 years of experience in heavy construction, including earthwork and underground utilities. He is a graduate of both the University of Washington and California State University. He is working on road projects at the East Campus Corporate Park and South 96th Street in Tacoma. Irick has 20 years of industry experience. His role at RCI includes large heavy civil projects involving concrete work and process piping and equipment systems found in hydroelectric projects and water treatment facilities. He also is working on deep, large-diameter pipe installations with RCI's utility division.
Modern Building Systems of Aumsville, Ore., has received the "Employer of the Year" award for 1999 from the Salem Chamber of Commerce. The maker of modular buildings earned the award for excellence in marketing, outstanding customer relations, promoting employee growth, contributing to the manufacturing industry, community service, and innovative products and services.

Parker, Smith & Feek has opened a new corporate headquarters. The insurance company purchased and renovated a 33,000-square-foot office building in Bellevue at 2233 112th Ave. N.E.
Bill Langford has been named manager of graduate services for Ashmead College-School of Massage. The college has campuses in Seattle, Everett, Fife and Vancouver. Langford will be located at the Seattle headquarters and focus on developing policies to support graduates. He is a sports massage consultant and therapist.
Metcalf Hodges & Co., a Bellingham-based accounting firm, announced that Sarah Papageorge has joined the firm as an enrolled agent, specializing in tax assistance for local businesses. Stephanie C. Artino has joined the firm as a staff accountant.
Thomas J. Smrekar has retired a vice president of the wood products group at Potlatch Corp. and will be replaced by Richard K. Kelly. Kelly has been Western Division vice president.
Brig. Gen. Carl A. Strock has taken command of the Northwestern Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was most recently commander and division engineer of the Corps' Pacific Ocean Division in Honolulu. From his headquarters in Portland, he will oversee all Corps water resource activities and military and environmental programs in a 14-state area with an annual budget of more than $1 billion.
Parker Services, a Seattle-based staffing firm, announced two appointments. Philip Reid was named technical support specialist in the Seattle office and Kay Fairbanks has been named direct hire and temp-to-hire specialist in the South King County office.
The Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants named its board of directors for the 1999-2000 term. Thomas G. Neill of Finney Neill & Co. is the new president. Incoming board members include: president-elect Bea L. Nahon, vice president Rachel M. Roberts, secretary Marvin D. Nelson, and treasurer Donald Aubrey. Thomas A. Pucci and Gerard Doblie were named directors.
On the Boards announced it has hired a nationally respected arts administrator as its managing director. Dan Mayer, a Seattle native who returned to this area last year from New York, has spent the past two and a half years as president of Parkway III Consulting. Among his leading clients is the National Performance Network, where he served as management and legal consultant. OTB is a founding member of NPN.
