Tina Pries has been named executive director of the new Stafford Suites assisted-living facility in Sumner. Pries was formerly community director of the Renton Villa assisted-living complex. At Stafford Suites, she will oversee management and staff.
The Bellevue office of Davis Wright Tremaine announced the hiring of Paula L. Lehmann. Lehmann moves from a private practice in California, and will continue to focus in wrongful termination litigation, discrimination claims, arbitration, mediation and negotiations.
InterKnack.com of Issaquah has named Cynthia Shannon as general manager. The company develops Internet software. Shannon has nearly 18 years experience in sales, marketing and management.
The Puget Sound Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America named Marilyn Hawkins as PR Professional of the Year for 1999. Hawkins is president of Hawkins & Co., Inc., of Seattle and has served the PRSA in many capacities for 15 years, including chapter president.
The Bellevue office of Moore & Associates announced the addition of Sylva Leduc as a director of its Organizational Consulting Services Group. The company specializes in change management. Leduc was a manager in Business Transformation for the Seattle office of Ernst & Young.
The Seattle law firm Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson announced the hiring of Howard F. Jensen. Jensen was an associate with Odgen Murphy Wallace and will continue to focus on land use and environmental law.
Frances L. Hume, CEO of Ryther Child Center, the oldest child welfare agency in the state of Washington, was chosen to head the Children's Home & Aid Society of Illinois. Hume has lead Ryther Child Center since 1991.
Financial Security Group, a Bellevue-based financial planning and asset management firm, has hired Bonnie DeCaro-Monahan as director of marketing. DeCaro-Monahan will be developing the firm's current client base, new business and strategic alliances.
Sandra Lynn Perkins announced the opening of her law office, Sandra Lynn Perkins, PLLC, on 1000 Second Ave., Suite 3500, in Seattle. Perkins is continuing to practice estate planning and probate law, including assisting clients with prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, charitable transfers and family issues. She was previously a shareholder at Stokes Lawrence, P.S. for eight years.
Mike Pace has joined Approach Management as a safety and health specialist and Luis Cadavid has joined as a retro coordinator. Both will help administer the company's retrospective rating groups -- a program set up by the state Department of Labor and Industries to keep workers safe and minimize workers' compensation costs. Pace will work with companies to keep their workers safe while Cadavid will manage workers' compensation claims.
Cindy Johnson has been appointed service center manager for CertainTeed Corp.'s Insulation Group service center in Portland. The 125,000-square-foot facility is under construction on North Lombard in Portland. In her new position, Johnson will be responsible for setting up the center, hiring personnel and developing operating procedures and policies. Prior to her new post, she was a shift supervisor for the past 12 years for CertainTeed's Chowchilla, Calif., manufacturing facility.
A presentation on wage and hour laws will be made at the Feb. 24 breakfast roundtable meeting of the ABC of Western Washington. Lawyer Mark A. Clausen of Linville Clausen & Linton will speak on these topics: what should be included in written offers; overtime pay requirements for salaried staff; when employees are required to get time off; when independent contractors are considered employees; when employers are liable for double wages; and if employers must pay for company meeting time and daily clean-up time.
