Shea Construction

Spokane's Shea Construction has hired Jenny Fechter as marketing coordinator and Brian Singer as a project engineer. Fechter has a background in marketing, journalism and communications, and holds a bachelor's degree in general communications from Whitworth College. Singer is working on the firm's $25.4 million Washington State University Health Science Building project in Spokane. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction engineering management from Oregon State University.

Economic Development Council

The Economic Development Council of Seattle and King County is recognizing its chairperson and executive committee members currently serving on the board of directors. Chairperson this year is Nina Odell, government and community relations director for Puget Sound Energy. EDC board members include Jeff Daggett, president and CEO of W&H Pacific; Frank Young Jr., chariman and CEO of GLY Construction Co.; David Mann, senior vice presdient and CFO, Immunex Corp.; Bill Urick, professional consultant; Sue Carlson, economic devleopment director, city of Renton; and Martin Neilson, western territory executive vice president, Bank of America.

The Rockey Co.

The Rockey Co., a public relations and public affairs consulting firm, has named Monica Roland account executive of its Seattle office. Roland was formerly assistant account executive and has been with the company for a year and a half.

Washington State Health Insurance Pool

Gov. Gary Locke appointed six individuals to the newly reactivated Washington State Health Insurance Pool: Bernandene Dochnahl, Renton; Patti L. Carter, Oak Harbor; Mark C. Adams, Bremerton; Robert A. Crittenden, Seattle; Sean P. Corry, Seattle; and Patricia M. Maddock, Kent. The pool is designed to provide health care coverage to residents of Washington who are denied health insurance. The board of directors represents healthcare users, purchasers, providers and insurers, and works to develop and approve a uniform screening mechanism for subscribers. The health care industry will also name four representatives to the board.

Moore & Associates of Bellevue announced the addition of Pam Gardiol as director of its Organizational Consulting Services Group. Gardiol will work with clients to facilitate organization change. She has more than 20 years experience in organization management, communication, team management and diversity management. Prior to joining the firm, Gardiol was an education and training consultant at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.

Girl Scouts

Ada Shen-Jaffe of Seattle, director of Columbia Legal Services, has been named the Girl Scouts' 2000 Woman of Distinction. The award is presented ever year to a woman in the Puget Sound area who has excelled in managing corporate responsibility, family and community. Columbia Legal Services is a state-wide civil legal services delivery network that helps low-income people.

Gray Line of Seattle

Gray Line of Seattle announced a new Airport Express summer schedule to offer motorcoach transportation between the Seattle-Tacoma Airport and downtown Seattle. The Airport Express will operate seven days a week from 4:50 a.m. until 10:52 p.m., departing every half hour from selected downtown locations and two locations at the airport. Prices are $14 round-trip, $8.50 for adults one-way, $10 round-trip and $6 one-way for children ages 2 to 12.
