Arlen Savitt has been promoted to the newly created position of Kenworth director of fleet sales. In that role, he is responsible for overseeing Kenworth fleet sales program in the United States and Canada. For the past two years, Savitt served as Kenworth's quality assurance manager. He joined the PACCAR organization in 1989 has served in a variety of key positions in truck division operations and the parts aftermarket arena.
Deborah Seaney has been named to the Kenworth marketing communications manager. She is responsible for Kenworth's marketing communications program, including advertising, Internet communications, product literature, public relations, trade shows and event management.
Jim Strong was recently named as Kenworth medium duty segment manager. His responsibilities focus on Kenworth's T300 Class 7 conventional and K300 Class 7 cabover along with future medium duty product enhancements and marketing initiatives. Strong has more than 28 years of light, medium and heavy duty trucking experience.
Sean Redden has been named Kenworth medium duty sales manager for Canada. He comes to the position with nine years experience in the heavy truck industry. Redden was formerly with Cummins Ontario Inc., where he was mid-range sales manager.
Dan Purdy was named Kenworth's Southeast Region dealer development manager. Purdy is responsible for working with the Kenworth dealer organization in the Southeast .He previously served as a Kenworth district parts manager in the company's aftermarket organization.
John Luoma was named Kenworth sales operations manager. In his new position, he will be responsible for the direction of the Kenworth sales administration team. Luoma joined PACCAR in 1995 in the engineering organization and most recently served as design engineering supervisor over the electrical production group.
Seattle Coffee Co., an AFC Enterprise company, announced that Birmingham, Ala.-based Wall Street Deli is serving Seattle's Best Coffee throughout its 120-unit national chain. Wall Street Deli operates a nationwide chain of quick-service, delicatessen style restaurants in 19 major markets, from Chicago to Houston, D.C. to Dallas. Most of the restaurants are located in large suburban and downtown office buildings and are designed to serve the population in and around those buildings.
The University of Washington's Center on Human Development and Disability has received an unprecedented gift of $5 million to endow a new center for the treatment of autism, to encourage early intervention and to expand training of professionals. In what is believed to be the largest gift ever given to the university for a specific disorder, a personal donation of $5 million from Microsoft executive Richard W. Fade and his wife, Susan, is expected to be matched by a $5 million grant from an anonymous source. Fade is Microsoft's vice president of OEM Multinational accounts.
Publicis, a communications company with offices in Seattle, announced two new hires and one promotion in its U.S. information technology department. Debra Michaels joined the company as a technology training coordinator for its U.S. operations, Andrew Gunn joins the company as a network manager for the central region and Jeff Oler was promoted to network manager for the western region. Oler joined Publicis in 1997 in the help desk. He was network engineer and management information systems manager before being promoted to his new position.

Landor Associates, a Seattle-based branding and design firm hired Stephen Birkhold as client director and promoted Mary Lewis to naming strategist. Birkhold is the main strategic consultant for the company's Microsoft account and has 16 years of marketing experience. Lewis is a special team leader for verbal branding and naming issues.
Tidemark Computer Systems Inc., a software developer for state and local governments, announced the appointment of Daniel J. Evans as chairman of the company's board of directors. Evans, who was first elected governor of Washington state in 1965 and served three terms in office before joining the U.S. Senate in 1983, will use his years of experience to advise Tidemark as the company expands its suite of e-government products and services. Evans role is to ensure Tidemark helps local governments catch up with the technological advances made by their private-sector counterparts.
Gina Tomasi has joined Melby, Cameron and Hull, an Edmonds-based association management firm, as an account executive. She will serve as executive director for the Washington State Psychological Association and the Washington State Dietetic Association.
Zebra Hill Marketing, based in Bellevue, and Axis Promotions & Events, based in New York City, announced the joint acquisition of CoGear.com, a promotional product industry e-commerce solution. Purchased from Corporategear for an undisclosed sum, CoGear.com’s Internet technology significantly expands the bricks-and-mortar businesses founded by Peter Weinstein of Zebra Hill and Larry Cohen of Axis Promotions. By accessing CoGear.com, corporate customers are able to browse through thousands of products organized by categories, search for specific items by keywords, upload artwork, and place orders online.
