Department of Natural Resources

David Thorud, dean emeritus of the college of forest resources at the University of Washington, has ended his tenure on the state Board of Natural Resources. The board guides policies for the 5.8 million acres of state lands managed by the state Department of Natural Resources. The focus of Thorud's professional interests were on watershed management, forest hydrology, forest management and international natural resource policy.

Allrecipes.com

Allrecipes.com, an online meal planning resource, announced agreements with Nestle, Eaglebrand and Keebler. Nestle and Eaglebrand have each signed sponsorship agreements with Allrecipes.com. Keebler has agreed to share Web content with Allrecipes.com and post Allrecipes.com's linked logo on the Keebler party-planning site.

Evergreen Healthcare

Evergreen Healthcare announced the opening of its Parkinson Care Center in Kirkland.

Edmonds Community College

President Jack Oharah named Kathy Beem vice president for human resources at Edmonds Community College. An administrator at the college since 1987, Beem had served as interim vice president for 10 months, was director of human resources and employment services, associate human resources director and director of corrections education.

Seattle University

Seattle University President Stephen V. Sundborg, S.J, has appointed David Arnesenacting dean of the Albers School of Business & Economics. Arnesen, currently chair of the Department of Management, joined the Seattle University faculty in 1984. Mary Rivers, associate professor of economics and finance, has been appointed interim associate dean for the 2000-2001 academic year, and will assist Arnesen. She previously served as acting associate dean during the 1997-1998 academic year.

Crowley Marine Services

Repsol YPF, a worldwide oil, chemical and gas company, has awarded Crowley Marine Services de Venezuela a multi-year contract to support its Eastern Venezuela exploration and production operations. Crowley will provide storage and inventory control of oilfield equipment and coordination of all land services between the base and drilling and production areas. Crowley Marine has its West Coast operating headquarters in Seattle.

Shoreline Community College

Gary Oertli announced his resignation effective June 30. Oertli has worked in education for 30 years, with 23 years in the community college system including five years as the president of Shoreline Community College. He leaves the college to accept a position as senior vice president for out-of-state marketing and chief strategist for e-Workz, a new high-tech company helping colleges develop e-commerce bookstores. Vice President for Workforce and Economic Development Holly Moore will serve as interim president.

Evergreen Bank

Michael Mauer joined Seattle-based Evergreen Bank as executive vice president and chief credit officer. Mauer has more than 30 years of banking experience, including his most recent position as managing director at Bank of America Seattle.

Western Washington University

Robert Edie, currently director of legislative affairs in the office of Governor Gary Locke, has been named vice president for external affairs at Western Washington University in Bellingham. Edie will be responsible for legislative relations, public information and publications, and alumni affairs.
