Publicis, a communications agency, announced new hires and promotions in advertising, human resources and accounting in its Seattle office. Craig Kleber is senior principal, director of brand planning; Erin Hauck, media manager; Leslie Tweedle, broadcast negotiator; Silke Kiesewetter, broadcast production assistant and Jennifer Bailis, junior copywriter. Cynarah Alcanta was promoted to assistant account executive in the promotions department. Allison Hollis was hired as human resources coordinator and Brian King was hired as an account billing coordinator.
Best Cellars opened its second West Coast location in Kirkland at Kirkland Place. Best Cellars first store is located in the University Village shopping center. Best Cellars features an ever-changing stock of hand-selected wines, most of which sell for $10 or less. The new Kirkland location will host complimentary nightly wine tastings and complimentary Saturday wine-and-food events will feature local chefs and food purveyors.
Holland America Line-Westours, a Seattle-based cruise line company, has appointed Leilani Rodriguez to the product marketing team. Rodriguez will assist in marketing all of Holland America's cruise products outside of Alaska. The company has also promoted David Stockert to director, sales promotions. Stockert joined the company in 1983 in sales administration.
FastFocus Systems, headquartered in Bellevue, announced the sale of its Buying Decision System to Sharp Corp. in Osaka, Japan. Sharp will use the system to upgrade its business-to-business Web site, improving the ease of navigating the site for Sharp customers and sales staff. FastFocus, founded in 1997, develops software designed to ease purchasing decisions and allow a company to have sales and/or product managers update their online database in real time without any knowledge of programming or Web site design.
Business Marketing Group, a Kirkland-based provider of outsourced partner development and advisory services, announced the appointment of Jason Haggar as director of operations and Web services. Haggar's responsibilities include managing the company's finances, accounting, operations, information technology, legal issues and facilities.

GoAhead Software, a Bellevue-based developer of software for Internet infrastructure devices, announced three executive promotions. Jan Claesson, vice president of sales and services, has been promoted to executive vice president. Ken Hosac, director of product management, has been promoted to vice president of business development. Shannon Swift, director of human resources, has been promoted to vice president of human resources and corporate services.
SafeHarbor.com, a Satsop-based Web-focused customer service outsourcer, announced the appointments of Mike Taylor as chief technology officer and Scott Stebbins as chief operations officer.
REI.com, Recreational Equipment, Inc.'s online site for outdoor gear and clothing, announced the appointment of Joan Broughton as executive site producer for REI's consumer Web sites: REI.com, REI-Outlet.com, and REI Japan. Broughton will be responsible for defining and driving the design, content and community aspects of the e-commerce sites, focusing on brand vision and direction to ensure the highest quality customer experience. Most recently, Broughton worked in Office Depot's online division as the director of Web publishing. Previously, she was an executive producer at America Online.
