Shandwick International, a Bellevue-based provider of public relations communications services, has hired Barbara Hanson as its new senior account executive. Hanson will be in charge of the reviews program for the digital media division of Microsoft. Prior to joining Shandwick she served in management positions for the Fluke Corp., an electronic test and measurement manufacturer.

Nicholson has portfolio management and client servicing responsibilities and specializes in fixed income. His equity research responsibilities include technology stocks.

Seattle Aquarium Society

Linda Dickson joined the Seattle Aquarium Society as capital campaign director for the Pacific Northwest Aquarium project. Dickson brings more than 16 years of professional fundraising experience to the Society, having served most recently as a regional vice president of major gifts and planned giving for a national health care organization.

Museum of Glass

Lisa Hehr has been named director of development for the Museum of Glass in Tacoma. Hehr has more than six years experience in fundraising, most recently at the University of Puget Sound. In her new position, she will lead the fundraising department and its local efforts. The Glass Museum, which began construction June 12, is scheduled to open July 2, 2002.

Vixel

Vixel Corp., a Bothell-based provider of storage area network solutions, appointed Joseph Colgate to the position of vice president, sales. Colgate is responsible for the company's North and South American reseller and distributor sales initiatives. He has more that 20 years of experience in the storage and information technology industries.

Washington Manufacturing Services

Washington Manufacturing Services, a Mukilteo-based non-profit organization dedicated to helping Washington manufacturers become more competitive, has announced that Rhea Wallace has been named its new account manager. Wallace will be responsible for manufacturers in the electronics and aerospace industries statewide. He is based out of the American Electronics Association office in Redmond.

Trust Company of Washington

Mellon Financial Corp. will acquire The Trust Company of Washington. The Trust Company specializes in meeting the needs of high-net-worth individuals, families and not-for-profit

organizations. Founded in 1993, The Trust Company will operate as part of Mellon Private Asset Management, a business of Mellon Financial Corp. Based in Seattle with offices in Bellevue and Tacoma, The Trust Company of Washington will add approximately $500 million in assets under management to Mellon Private Asset Management.

Getty Images, a Seattle-based e-commerce provider of imagery and related products and services, announced that Elizabeth Huebner has joined the company as senior vice president and chief financial officer. Prior to joining Getty Images, she was executive vice president and CFO for Primus Knowledge Solution.

RealNetworks

RealNetworks, a Seattle-based provider of media delivery on the Internet, announced that Richard Cohen will be joining the company as a senior vice president, overseeing media delivery service initiatives for the company, including the Real Broadcast Network. Cohen joins RealNetworks after more than six years at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, where he served as president of home entertainment and consumer products.

PCC Natural Markets

PCC Natural Markets, a Seattle-based chain of cooperatively-owned natural food stores, is seeking applicants to run for its board of trustees in the spring of 2001. Board candidates must be PCC members, able to commit to five to seven evening meetings a year, occasional task force meetings and two Saturday retreats a year, for a three-year term. Service Stop, a Seattle-based company providing Web-based employee incentive programs, has appointed Victor Cooper general manager of its new office in New York City. Cooper is responsible for establishing and managing the company's vendor relations and customer base in addition to expanding the company's New York team. The New York office is the company's third, including Seattle and San Francisco.

Food merchant applications are now being accepted for the 30th annual Northwest Folklife to be held May 25 - 28, 2001. Kirkland Art Center

The Kirkland Art Center announced the addition of Elizabeth Umbanhowar as executive director of the community visual arts school and gallery. Umbanhowar most recently was employed by the Seattle Parks and Recreation and has experience with non-profit management, grant writing, publications and arts and environmental education programs.

Wolfstone, Panchot & Bloch

Steven Ross has joined Seattle law firm Wolfstone, Panchot & Bloch as of counsel. Ross will continue his practice in labor and employment law. Kevin Hull has joined the firm as an associate and will focus his practice on all aspects of litigation and family law.

Karr Tuttle Campbell

The Seattle law firm Karr Tuttle Campbell announced that Kenneth Karlberg and George Treperinas have joined the firm as shareholders. Karlberg has an active trial practice that includes products liability and personal injury defense. Treperinas has a broad range of transactional experience including business and real estate acquisitions and sales.

The Rockey Co.

Patrick Bannon, a five-year veteran of the public relations industry, has joined The Rockey Co., a Seattle-based public relations firm, as senior account executive. Bannon will assist clients in building and managing stakeholder relationships through strategic public relations, and internal and external communications.

Western Washington University

Marguerite Hutton, chair and associate professor of Western Washington University’s accounting department, recently received the prestigious American Taxation Association/Arthur Andersen Teaching Innovation Award. Hutton was recognized for her instructional methods in undergraduate tax courses with a $2,500 award at the American Accounting Association’s annual national meeting in August

Fisher Properties

Kelly Dowd was promoted at Fisher Properties to property manager at Fisher Plaza. Fisher Properties earlier this year finished construction of the first phase of Fisher Plaza, a high-tech office complex near Seattle Center that's home to Fisher's KOMO TV. Dowd previously managed Fisher's marina and lake properties.

Colliers International

Steve Koon joined Colliers International as a downtown Seattle office leasing and sales agent. In addition, Kevin Fritz came from Norris Beggs & Simpson to Colliers' Bellevue office, where Fritz will work in office leasing and sales.

Windermere Real Estate

Windermere Real Estate hired the following new sales associates: Ken Blondin and Cheryl Whitener in the Eastlake office and Ami Wells in the Broadway office. Blondin was a software test engineer for the Redmond contracting agency Volt Computer. Whitener worked as an actress in Seattle and New York then went to the University of Washington. Wells worked in Portland for Windermere as an Internet coordinator.

Urban Land Institute

If you don't see the usual movers and shakers around in the first few days of next month, they may have gone to Chicago. The Urban Land Institute's fall meeting is scheduled for Oct. 31 through Nov. 4 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. See www.uli.org.

Session Six in NAIOP technology series

Three speakers will talk about development of biotech buildings at the next breakfast meeting of the local chapter National Association of Industrial and Office Properties. The Oct. 18 event is the sixth session in NAIOP's software/technology series. The speakers will be: Ruth Martens Scott, president of the Washington Biotechnology and Biomedical Association; Steve Gilbert, CEO of Shin Nippon Biomedical Laboratories and Biosupport and director of the Institute of Neurotoxicology and Neurological Disorders; and Jim Thomas, vice president of Immunex Corp.'s Process Sciences Facility in Bothell. The event is titled "The emerging and changing world of biotech/biomedical and the facilities the industry requires." The gathering is scheduled for 7 to 9 a.m. on Oct. 8 at the Bellevue Club south of downtown Bellevue. For information, call (206) 382-9121.
