Cascade Design, a Seattle-based manufacturer of outdoor, medical and travel gear, has named Lee Fromson as chief operating officer and Ann Dimond as director of finance. Fromson was formerly chief financial officer/vice president for Cascade. He will be responsible for daily control of the company as well as guiding the company's strategic direction. Dimond has been with the company for seven years, most recently serving as controller.

Laird Norton Trust Co., a Seattle-based investment and trust management company, has hired Lynn Thorburn as vice president and business development officer. Thorburn has 24 years of experience in the financial and wealth planning industries. Prior to joining Laird Norton, she worked for KeyTrust Co. for eight years, most recently heading its Northwest wealth management group.

GA Design

GA Design, a Bellevue-based graphic design firm, announced the promotion of Ross West and Jeff Welsh to senior designers. West, who joined the firm in 1996, and Welsh, who joined the firm in March, currently serve as an account managers and design managers for many of the firm's major clients.

Digeo Broadband

Digeo Broadband, a Kirkland-based provider of interactive television and other broadband services, announced that Carter Maguire has joined the company as vice president of sales. Maguire will lead Digeo's sales organization in expanding MSO cable system distribution of the company's upcoming interactive TV and PC portal services. Maguire comes to the company from Turner Network Sales where he served more than 11 years, most recently as executive vice president.

PaymentOnline

PaymentOnline, a Seattle-based provider of e-commerce solutions, recently announced the release of SecureGate, a new service that enables businesses to accept credit card payments quickly and securely over the Internet. Under development since the company's inception in 1997, the SecureGate service allows online businesses to authorize, process and manage Internet-based credit card transactions in real-time through an automated system.

Housing Partnership tackles parking issues

The Housing Partnership will hold a workshop called "Parking: Curbing a Housing Cost Driver, from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Nov. 29. The event will be held in the Union Square Boardroom, at One Union Square, Sixth and University. Organizers hope to build consensus around a series of actions to reduce the role of parking in the rising cost of building housing. For information, call (425) 453-5123.

Economist Mitchell will forecast for IREM

John W. Mitchell, economist with U.S. Bancorp, will be the keynote speaker for the Dec. 7 Institute of Real Estate Management Forecast Breakfast. The breakfast will be held at 7:30 a.m. at Meydenbauer Center in downtown Bellevue. Mitchell will discuss local economic. BOMA holds holiday gala

The Building Owners and Managers Association will hold its holiday reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11. The event will be held in the Grand Atrium of the Washington Mutual Tower in downtown Seattle. Costing $75 for members with reservations and $85 for non-BOMA members or those without reservations, the event will feature hors d'oeuvres and drinks. For information, call (206) 622-9824.

Ringer leaves Plenum

LION, Inc., a Renton online mortgage information provider, said Allen Ringer resigned as president of subsidiary Plenum Communications. Ringer has also left Plenum's board of directors. "Allen was instrumental in building LION, Inc.," said Jack McMillan, LION, Inc.'s chairman. "He took us public and contributed greatly to where we are today. We are grateful for Allen's contribution and support and would like to thank him for all of his hard work and dedication."

McMillan said he believes that with this change, combined with the recently restructured management team at LionInc.com, LION, Inc. will be able to exceed its company goals.

New associates at Prudential/Anchorage

Elena Novitsky recently joined the Anchorage office of Prudential Jack White Real Estate as a sales associate specializing in residential sales. Also joining the office were: Dennis Pitt, associate broker specializing in residential real estate marketing and sales; Gabe Stephan, associate broker and sales manager; and Vanton Pettigen, sales associate specializing in residential real estate marketing and sales. Jennine M. Smith, from the same office, was awarded the accredited buyer representative designation by the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council, Inc. of the National Association of Realtors.

Jessica Imm recently joined the Anchorage office of Prudential Vista Real Estate as a sales associate specializing in residential real estate. Also joining the office were: Bill Brady, sales associate specializing in residential and income property sales; Carolyn Hogan, sales associate specializing in residential real estate; David Rietze, associate broker specializing in residential, income and commercial real estate marketing and sales; and Ted Kuehn, sales associate specializing in residential and commercial real estate marketing and sales, as well as property management.
