VoteHere, a Bellevue-based provider of secure electronic and online voting systems, announced that Ralph Munro, former secretary of state for Washington, has joined its board of directors. Munro, who served as secretary of state from 1980 to 2000, has a background in legislative, elections and government policy. He was instrumental in developing and implementing progressive plans making voting more convenient for citizens and improving the administrative process for elections officials.

Milestone Technology

Effective immediately, Olympia’s locally owned and operated information technology firm, formerly known as Cotey Computer Services, is now Milestone Technology. This change was made both in response to a new marketplace and to expand lines of service in information technology consulting. While ownership and management of the business have not changed, Milestone Technology’s corporate identity, operating procedures, and service offerings have. Over the past five years, Milestone Technology has provided primary service offerings in management consulting and system delivery and integration.

McCann-Erickson Seattle

Advertising agency McCann-Erickson Seattle has hired several new members to its staff and promoted several others. New hires are: Anna Goheen as the human resources director; Stacy Truax as an account supervisor; Ryan Peterson as an account coordinator; and Kathy Bailor as a media buyer. Promoted were: Steve Johnston, senior vice president/creative director; Stacie McRae, junior media planner; Jenn Pennington, broadcast traffic coordinator; Chris Ophoven, assistant editor; and Sarah VanDevanter, media buyer.

Rainier Petroleum

Rainier Petroleum announced the hiring of Guy Butler as general manager of commercial marketing. Butler will be responsible for all marketing and operations in commercial and industrial fuels and lubricants, including Rainier Petroleum’s cardlock fuels operation. Rainier is a marketer in the Pacific Northwest for marine and commercial fuel and lubricants with operations in Seattle and Sedro-Woolley.

Creative Assets

Creative Assets, a creative placement agency with offices in Seattle and Portland, announced the appointment of Catherine King to president and Robin Reiners as marketing director. King comes to Creative Assets with almost 20 years of staffing experience. Reiners comes to the company with 15 years of credentials in marketing and design management in both traditional and e-commerce environments.

John Dern has been appointed director of media relations for The Boeing Co. Dern is responsible for the external communications of the aerospace company, including maintaining contact with print and broadcast journalists, serving as a company spokesman on corporate matters and coordinating media relations efforts of the company's business units. He was previously director of media relations for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, the business unit responsible for designing, building and selling commercial jetliners and servicing airline customers.

The Ackerley Group

The Ackerley Group, a Seattle-based media and entertainment company, announced the hiring of John Dresel to a newly created position at the company, senior vice president of mergers and acquisitions. The position is intended to assist the company in identifying undervalued media assets that fit with its core media operations. He is currently president of Full House Sports & Entertainment, the business arm of the company's NBA and WNBA basketball teams. He is a 15-year company veteran who has held leadership roles in the sports and entertainment and radio broadcasting segments of the company.

CapitalStream

CapitalStream, a Seattle-based provider of hosted e-commerce solutions for the commercial finance industry, announced the appointment of Walter Demaree to senior vice president of sales. Demaree brings more than 20 years of experience in the commercial finance industry, specializing in sales and marketing. He served as senior vice president and group manager of financial institutions for CapitalStream since joining the company last June.

Microsoft

Microsoft announced that Dan'l Lewin joined the company as vice president of .NET business development. Lewin, a 25-year Silicon Valley veteran, will be responsible for managing and expanding strategic business relationships in Silicon Valley around Microsoft's Next Generation Internet platform, Microsoft .NET. Lewin is based at Microsoft's Mountain View, Calif., campus.

WildTangent

WildTangent, a Redmond-based multimedia technology and content creation services provider, announced the expansion of its executive team with the appointment of Alec Hogg as vice president of sales and strategic relationships and Max Lakritz as vice president of systems technology. Hogg is responsible for maintaining and developing strategic relationships with corporations utilizing the company's services. He will also be driving sales efforts in conjunction with the company's new enterprise development team. Lakritz is responsible for the technical direction and strategy of the company, as well as the design and implementation of all production systems that support the company's users
