Karl Johansen has joined Triad as a GIS project manager. He is responsible for finding solutions to land development and management needs using geographic information systems. His specialties are GIS implementation, map data quality control, cartographic design and application of spatial data technologies. Sonia Binek has been hired as a planner/GIS technician to provide technical support on planning and GIS projects. Jerry Reed joined Triad as a project surveyor with 25 years of experience.
he will manage a variety of projects including topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, cadastral surveys and airborne GPS surveying. In the Puget Sound Region, he has done surveys for Nextel Communications, residential developments and business parks.
Lani Gallegos has joined Bohlin Cywinski Jackson as West Coast marketing manager. She will aid the firm in pursuing projects in niche markets, which include museums, public facilities such as courthouses and libraries, educational and lab work, and private residences. Previously, she worked as marketing coordinator for Architectural Resources Group, a historic preservation firm in San Francisco.
Pacific Engineering Design, LLC, has expanded its land development consulting services to include survey and mapping. Thomas S. Barger. will manage the new survey and mapping group to complement Pacific Engineering Design’s civil engineering and planning groups. Barger has more than 18 years experience with public and private sector survey projects. He is a member of the Land Surveyors’ Association of Washington and the advisory board for the Surveying Engineering Program at Renton Technical College.
MulvannyG2 Architecture recently hired Leslie Dickinson as marketing manager in its Seattle/Lake Union Office. Dickinson will be responsible for managing marketing activities and business development of MulvannyG2's commercial, interiors and international studios. Dickinson has more than 13 years of marketing and business development experience in the architecture, engineering and construction industry.
Baylis Architects has added a new marketing manager, Ginny A. Boon. Boon brings more than a decade of experience in marketing communications and graphic design. Boon studied art, communications and business administration at Seattle Pacific University. Prior to joining Baylis, she worked in the high-tech industry.
David Bick recently joined Berger/ABAM Engineers Inc. in the Portland office. He is a professional engineer registered in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Bick has more than 20 years of experience in design and management of both public and private sector engineering projects. His background encompasses water resources and hydroelectric projects; municipal utility and street design; residential, commercial and industrial site development; bridge design; and drainage and irrigation system design.
Mark Temple has joined the Portland office. He is a structural engineer registered in Oregon. Temple has more 15 years of professional experience in design of building structures and management of structural engineering projects. His design background includes buildings ranging in size from 40 square feet to 1 million square feet, and up to 50 stories. He is knowledgeable in the use of structural steel, reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, precast concrete, and reinforced masonry and timber.
Laura Cociasu recently joined the Portland office. She has more than two years of engineering experience in the field of civil design. Cociasu’s background focuses on water resources and wastewater treatement projects.
URS Corp. announced several additions to its Spokane office: Mark Young has joined the firm as a senior architect. Young has practiced architecture in northern Idaho and Montana for more than 20 years. He provides design services for Copper Basin Developers, Versacold, Eastern Washington University and the United States Postal Service. Shawn Conroy, a senior mechanical/fire protection engineer, will provide design services for a number of regional projects at Hill Air Force Base, Utah; University of Washington and Washington State University; and Sea-Tac International Airport. Daniel Watterson, a senior hydrogeologist, will study remediation alternatives at Fairchild Air Force Base. He is also responsible for leading soil and surface/groundwater investigations for the Environmental Services Department.
Brian Peterka and Anthony Coyne have been promoted to project managers in GeoEngineers' Seattle office. Peterka, a geologist, has experience with site assessments, subsurface investigations and remediation, hydrogeology and geophysical studies. He is managing a remediation project for a proposed commercial development, and an environmental and geotechnical Phase I/Phase II ESA project for a proposed residential tower. Coyne, a geotechnical engineer, has experience including deep excavations, landslide stabilization and site development. Coyne is project manager for the geotechnical design for a new Costco facility and the University of Washington law school building
Planet 7 Technologies, a Bothell-based provider of e-business integration software, announced that it has added three tech executives to its leadership team. Laurent Vernhes joined the company as director of engineering. Most recently, Vernhes led Microsoft's XML services group. Jeffrey Smoll, director of strategic alliances, is responsible for building new business relationships with industry partners and negotiating strategic transactions and agreements. Prior to joining Planet 7 Technologies, Smoll was global alliance manager for Avaya. As director of human resources, Sue Dunn oversees human resources, benefits, payroll, recruiting, facilities management and office management functions.
John Trent, director of public works and utilities for Pierce County, has been selected by the American Public Works Association as one of its Top Ten Public Works Leaders of the Year. Trent is recognized for being instrumental in the initiation, development and implementation of the regional Geographic Information System. He oversaw compliance programs for the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits for storm water and wastewater treatment programs and directed development of the Chambers Creek Properties Master Site Plan for long-range development on 950 acres of marine waterfront properties
